ONE SQUARE MILE

There's a place, that holds my heart
Where my life journey, once did start
Crossing a nearby bridge, I would feel
Soon I'd be home, my security seal

All I believe, about a special place
Now a memory, not eyes will trace
Stands majestic, and powerful too
On river's edge, bridge holding clue

Over the ages, inspired images hold
Gifted moments, historically bold
A wharf carried, my family's name
Part of a business, in family fame

Barges would carry, to London's larder
Dry Goods and wet, supplier to a wider
Community-clients, in lifestyle lived
Imported goods, or what they'd fished

From Whitstable down river, was shipped
To wharf now forgotten, in city picked
Supplying shellfish-oysters-wet fish
London's residents, could sample dish

Tower Bridge, Gothic Victorian masterpiece
Awe inspiring, iconic power never cease
By London's Tower, prison-castle that stands
Guarding London City, its historical land

No longer a prison, or where kings live
To lovers of history, it continues to give
Inspiration and magic, from all that past
Preserved-protected, so the icon must last

what others see as a tourist icon, I will always associate with going home.....raised just a few miles down river, I even lived close to the city for a few years.....

Carnac

Menhirs here, stand erect like obelisks of fire,
evoking immortality of man's prehistoric desire,
rising proud conveying faith's silent devotion,
in stately awe, everlasting as the ocean,
Thus, amid Carnac's antique landscape's scene,
listened I, to time's long forgotten paean
relate ancient stories, its well spun tale
of captive lyrics, e'er weave woven magical,
lilting soft the voice, its powered store
ply, hypnotic mists that floating soar
in graceful waves to kiss high elysian heaven,
lingering long as twilight's embroidered even'
of star freckled fire erupting sky,
captures sweet the faith by ear and eye,
rising here in all its historic scenery,
nestle the lowland plains of noble Brittany,
time etched, secluded in unfathomable antiquity,
wave vapourous washed by climate changing sea,
yet, still honoured bright, erect and still,
breathes immortal breath's unmolested thrill,
a monument of time in stone unquivering line
through proud radiant centuries, here recline,
'gainst winds, rains, winter's flood e'er rude,
conquer time's harsh odds, stands man's tribute.

About this poem:
Recently, I had Phyllis from America and Tess from Switzerland both contributers to this poetic corner, stay with me, I took them to visit the Carnac Alinement, some 4000 standing stones in lines and circles, believed to be in excess of 4,000 years old, this poem written to remind them of a happy occasion, it will be difficult to relate this poem unless one made a visit in person or via the internet.

The Impossible Dream!

The Dream

As old age progresses

I do not want to walk alone,
In front of, or 3 paces behind

I would like to walk side by side
Through life’s ebbing journey

To hold hands in fond embrace,
Touching hearts with the deepest of feelings within

Wanting an entwinement of happiness
A happy companion spirit with a person
Of desire!

To be smiled upon while looking into the depths
Of endearing eyes.

Is it still possible to share the bounty of one’s fading days?

To win
The Impossible Dream!

Confused Poet
Dream not of the Past!

honestly...

The pull is sronger now, ive aged just like preference of my drug of choice.
The numb, the feeling of ignorance, the bar stool man, the drunker he gets, the louder the voice,
The internet’s changed me, it is not the pub and silence now goes there,
No, its social media, its plenty of fish or connecting singles that they should beware,
Heroin I wont touch but ive done the rest, truth is, one likes but f*ck it, arseholes blame society
Some f*ck heads blame the area, then blame creed, color with no sense of morality,
It’s the them and those….watching the rain come down my bedroom wall,
The driblets…the pans catching it and some plastic, its some photos id like to show you all

Ticket To Yesterday

I was born with a ticket to yesterday
Tomorrow came along and life sailed away
Who created such a work of art
The treasure was mine and then we had to part

Then the shoes I walked in were made for me
The eyes I looked through could really see
Can't get it back no matter how much I pray
What happened to my ticket to yesterday

How fast I was walking just to go sit in a chair
Could you explain it to me if you were there
Tomorrow came along and life sailed away
Lord knows I was born with a ticket to yesterday

Past

I am always alone looking in from the outside
Do not really belong to this world that’s around
I belong to the times and the lives of my past
My bones are buried in so many graves
I walked throughout history and the times of yore
The savagery of men was a sight to behold
Lived the life of a master and the life of his slave
Lived only for violence and the thrill of the chase
…and now I do wonder from time to time
what is for me to do in this life ?
So I’m just waiting at the gates of dawn
for kingdom without borders and city’s of ashes to come.

"Self Pity"

"Self Pity"

How much can we bare?

How much turmoil and stress
heartbreak and duress,
Can our minds and bodies tolerate
before our insides explode?

How much can we endure
before we lose our mind?

Would it not be nice if we could alleviate
all those negative thoughts of kind?

To think only good thoughts.
To banish the negative.

To be thankful for the good
and not dwell on the bad.

Woe is me~
What an awful person I must be

To wallow in this self pity
of my own making!

He aprendido

I HAVE LEARNED

To love my freedom
To feel the wind
To appreciate the sea

To see the people and bring saberle
See my chances and knowing grasp
See my goals and achieve reach

A not hurt anyone but difficult to
For real

A walk on the grass and feel the softness
To be integrated with principles and values
That's my world proposal

To tell the truth without hurting
A react with injustice
To feel really
To see things discernidad
A appreciating and is in the distance
And my life transform

A smell the flowers and feel the natural aroma
To keep our feet on the ground but still
dreaming

A direct path reciprocate
To have the best of me and give community
Think big and act with fairness ..

He aprendido

HE APRENDIDO

A amar mí libertad
A sentir el viento
A apreciar el mar

A ver la gente y saberle llevar
A ver mis posibilidades y saberlas captar
A ver mis metas y lograrlas alcanzar
