Birds

At dusk
the birds come alive
companions of loneliness.
I'm smiling
rays
the setting sun.
I put my forehead on
to the glass
seeking relief.
At dusk
car sound
louder
they stopped singing
birds
Just an eagle owl
is not afraid
the hustle and bustle.
At dusk
I shut up
in cocoon heat
woven
from spider thread.
suspended
between waking up and sleeping.

OLD FEELINGS

This is why Time Machine is only fiction

You can only look back
to search for what you've lacked:

Words you should've said…
Love you should've shared…
The lost moments…
No second chances…

Only memories return
with regrets that burn
Sometimes they can all come again
only to relive all the days when…

This is why Time Machine is only fiction,
because some people leave you behind
for some new chapters
episodes without your part
while you remain outdated
with old feelings and ideals inside your head…

About this poem:
This pandemic has given us more time to look back and reflect on the past. Sometimes, there are people and things that we must let go of because they're just not meant to be the permanent part of our journey ahead.

Memories of Dad

Why don't you use your head for something other than a hat rack!
Which way is the tree going to fall?
I'm missing 35 dollars in change, you know anything about that?
I'm going to give you my car, but after that, you're on your own.
You need to work all the overtime you can, that's what built this house.
I'm missing a gun and a lot of money, it's really bad.
Are you going to come back next year and fish with me?
What are you looking at?(after hitting his truck door into a post)
Back up the truck.(Backed it over a log, he spent three hours cutting it out)
You knew that vine was going to break, didn't you?
Free the raccoon? You stick your hand in there and then tell me how many fingers you have left!
I told you to get rid of that car after 100,000 miles!
Come again when you can stay longer.
You leave Mike alone! He's enjoying himself! (Me singing and annoying Deb)
Quit yelling, you're upsetting Mike!(After my hook accidentally hooked Rich)
45 fish huh, what are you going to catch your pecker size? And you're cleaning them when we get back to the cabin.
Are you OK Mike?(After I fell on the ice while ice fishing sitting on a bucket)

The Burdens Of My Life

From the day I was born as a baby to the present day
Growing up as a child I discovered various difficult tasks
Including learning the English language also maths and
Other subjects. Things became harder during my teen years
Pubity and love, I knew nothing about, high school I left when I
Was sixteen then looked for work it was not easy but managed
To handle it well. I played sport like Squash, ice skating, and
Others, money was hard when I received my first credit card
It was not long before it was a test of nerves using it as the debit
Was building up. Eventually getting married in the late 1970’s
We had two girls. Problems of raising them I realised, organising
The family was a big responsibility for us both, The children
Went to school, purchasing school clothing stretched the budget
As time went on the children grew up and eventually left home in
The 90’s, living in government housing helped us but other pressures
Crept in I was out of work, getting the dole while trying desperate
Finding work to no effect as later I retired living to survive in 2000.
Divorce followed and then the dreaded Diabetes which claimed
My left leg. 2018 I was in hospital recovering from my injury
Then physiotherapy training me with a prosthetic leg, all the pain and
Suffering, everything was almost normal, in 2022 in February my
Glucose level was very high, the Ambulance took me to hospital
Where I was later put in various nursing homes. It was very hard for me
To adjust to being enslaved in these homes, as I suffered traumatic
Experience beyond belief being starved regularly, I could not adapt
To these circumstances, this is were I am staying living with no hope
Of having no quality of life hardly seeing family members. A terrible
Epitaph for me victim of bad doctors, their medication and amputation
Which has robbed me of a normal life, I am sitting in my bed now
Writing this. My future is uncertain, nothing to look forward to
My life what’s left of it, when I sleep I think of things that I loved to do
My family, friends it makes me want to cry, Where do I go from here .?

Winter Evening

Cold,silent dusk
Gold tints west,
Birds fly to rest.

Steaming broth
Warms the insides
Cosy evening fire burns.

Nostalgia takes over,
Sweet & bitter plays
The scenes on blank wall

Wintry days,silence reigns
Brings to mind
Sweetness or sadness.

About this poem:
Just sweet & sad thoughts of home fill my mind as I sit alone looking out of the window, watching the few sparrows braving the cold ( past their bed time ) to eat the crumbs.

Murphy's Lens

Sideshow attraction
cold clever pieces
from Murphy's pages
we were estranged
in the east
where once I told you
I loved you
the boys on the front
ease the hours
writing home
my cigar winters
summer port
give time to remember
when your figure
and spirit
were vaguely lost
beneath the sails
I tell you this
yesterday's blue hue
gave no more
honeysuckle reason

Words

You said
so many desires in us
longings.
And I believed in every word.
You said
your appearance
deep in my eyes
sunk.
I gave in to feelings.
You said
so many emotions, desires
I can not sleep at night.
I haven't slept with you
But that day has come
and everything you wrote about
run out
and my eyes remain
wide open.

Loneliness II

Loneliness takes on a taste for me
red Sophi semi dry
tested to kill thoughts.
Loneliness,
it's a return to the apartment,
where nobody waits.
Loneliness,
It's a morning look in the mirror
where do you see the signs
passing time.
Loneliness,
is the empty bed you are going to.
Loneliness,
they are relationships that they only took
giving nothing
Loneliness,
this is the moment when you ask yourself a question
what's wrong with you
Loneliness,
it's internal pain.
Loneliness,
is a pillow in which you shed tears.
Loneliness,
is the time when you realize
that you love her
and that scares you.

Ah nature
take my lonely hands
let rains wash away spots of past
let breeze touches my skin
**
Ah nature
let butterflies cuddle my heart
take me away from false colors of this world
take me to the land of honesty
**
Ah nature
take me to the world of peace
let me be a part of grandma's tales
hug my emotions
**
Ah nature
remove my tears
calm my soul
i wish to be a soulless statue
Ah nature
