Emily Youcis

I first saw you on Steven Colbert
You were the pistachio girl
You delivered Cracker Jacks too
And you yelled out PISTACHIO!
You were good at your job
Giving not only nuts but joy to the game of baseball
The Philadelphia Phillies was you home
You ruled that ball park
Making it fun to go see a game
Then someone got political and fired you from your job
Too bad
We lost another fun soul that was good at cheering up a crowd
I don't care what they say about you Pistachio girl
Emily Youcis
You rock!

The old town

All quiet the light of the old town
earthern rusted verandahs
iron balustraded conversations
of men of youthful daring
long forgotten
sons lost to the sea

Of hooves and parades and produce filled wagons
of wild-eyed dogs in the doorways of an afternoon

All this held fast in the silence of old men
who hobble in the winding lanes of the cobbled night

The British Isles

I’ve travelled all over England
From Land’s End to Carlisle
From Lowestoft to St Leonards and
I’ve seen the dales and the Fylde

I’ve been to the Isle of Wight,
And Whitby has its charms
I’ve lived and worked in Blackpool
I’ve visited cities and farms.

I’ve seen those lovely Welsh valleys
And climbed their mountains tall,
I’ve climbed to the top of Snowdon
Just three times in all.

I've never been to Ireland
Though its beauty I have seen
But alas it was through the pages
Of my favourite magazine.

I’ve been to bonnie Scotland
From Jedburgh to Inverness,
But the days I spent in the Highland
Were the ones that I loved best.

We Brits have four lovely countries,
And there are parts that I hold dear;
But my heart is in the Highlands
Among the majestic deer.

ChasingDestiny

Sighs

For what its worth those star too far
The things to never find
For every heart I've chafed and led to chase
During my shaded divide --
Pale this print of sunshine skin
Envelope another mind that is eager within.

And now the day turns into night
The Storm that dances towards this hill
Shall lend its light and strike in fright.

Imperfections reign on this surface of man
A brother to the secreted thoughts that lie beneath
A wanderer drinking the wanderlust
Of the poets curse
Seeking perfection within imperfection.

Composing this upon the fly
Brooks and Dunn the ballads-bye
Back to the world and its boring pace
Traffic congestion and bills to pay
If only to survive just one more day
So I might find that tender hand
Sublime the contours within her sighs.

the model

Porcelain skin
Smooth to touch
You stand on high for all to see
Figure 10

Features less
face hidden
You look from monuments high
On folk below
No one knows who you are
Your past hidden future unknown
drapped in your best
For all to see
you are
the woman of desire
For men to desire

show them your not cheap
Your the seller the buyer
The porcelain figure
The model

The doll
The manuquin

The Gong Show

The Gong Show
Is my favorite show on TV right now
A dad and his daughter clogging to Dueling Banjos
This week a man playing the piano with a cello balanced on his head
There's the man who uses his fifth sense of smell to predict what you ate
There's the man who tells jokes and then yells Scooby Doo!
Acting out the video game Street Fighter
A pretty girl looking like Marilyn Monroe twirling inside a metal hoop
Hotdogs and Applesauce
The cackling witch
The man trying to juggle chairs
A woman playing the harmonica with a tarantula in her mouth
jumping rope
telling jokes dressed up as a huge bunny
and the comic with a paper grocery bag on his head

About this poem:
This is my favorite show so far this year. It dates back to the 70's and I watched it back then too, though I only remember the Unknown Comic.

Deja Vu

Each day I wake up
it’s the same as before.
I learn new skills
share and give more.

Every time I wake up to a new dawn
I feel the same as when I was born.
My heart begins to ache as I learn who I am,
the pain I can fight, I’m sure I can.

I face the same things without a clue,
But repeating each days mistakes that’s not new.
I have been here time and again
it’s called Deja Vu.

Meager Reason ND

I took a trip to Meager Reason, ND
A place where the gold shore meets the pale Tasman sea
There the deep ocean fills with synergy
And tides crest just for me
Until the edges of the beach are left foaming.

In this great place of Meager Reason, ND,
Melodies played and all the dances were free.
Eager punters shouted "Five on the three!"
Lazy days began and ended happily -
Born of greetings, smiles and spontaneity.

Not really a place, but a space, between we
Of like-mindedness, shared interests (so far, three)
I'm waitin everyday to see if you and me
Can go back to the place, can get back in that space
Oh! Meager Reason ND.

Mmm, Mmmm oh where can you be?
Can the weeks you've been gone be an eternity?
I know you're real - Google searches told me
Of the times you were a boy, drummin, banging keys
And that song that you sung? My smile is all teeth!
I've got the giggles...'cause I loved it.

So, when's the next trip to Meager Reason ND?
Space in your mind, for a time, just for we
You know it will do until I can come see
If those eyes are true green,
And those lips that look sweet,
Are all that I hope they can be
Say soon! Meager Reason ND.

Grizzly Adams

Hi
My name is Grizzly Adams
I have a very simple diet
Roots, berries, and bark
Old Mad Jack has hundreds of different recipes
From these three simple ingredients
Sometimes it's gooseberries
Sometimes it's mullberries
Sometimes it different bark and different berries
I don't believe in eating meat because all the animals are my friends
Especially my best friend Ben
He's a grizzly bear
I also have an Indian friend called Tacoma
We're blood brothers
So if you happen to become lost in my mountains
I'll help you out
And give you a yummy meal of roots, berries, and bark

A King Unprotected

Rook sits, forgotten

Bishop sweeps to capture queen

Knight seals trap. Checkmate.
