What's Love?

When you look at someone sweet,
Whom you're sure you'd like to meet,
Could it be love?

Should that someone touch your heart,
And it hits you from the start,
Maybe it's love.

If the things they say and do,
Trap you up and capture you,
It could be love.

If the two of you connect,
And your souls then intersect,
Then that is love.

Where Once Was Love

A teenage wedding, Halloween,
A Pagan priest, an ancient rite.
There was no one to stand between,
The two of them that autumn night.

He had a job, they got a place,
A second story three room flat.
What otherwise would go to waste,
They furnished their new home with that.

And then there came a baby boy,
Their blessing and again their curse.
He brought into their home such joy,
But finances became much worse.

So there were fights and arguments,
She cheated then and he did too.
The vows that they had never meant,
Were cast aside and they were through.

This happened all so long ago,
The baby boy is now a man.
The teenagers, now gray and old,
Where once was love, now nothing stands.

Nature's Calm

The sight of white velvet stretched across the land,
A breath frozen in midstream.
A calming quiet is at hand,
The day is such a wondrous dream.

People pass by, steady and slow
With a greeting, a smile, or a look.
And children excited with faces aglow!
A night's snowfall was all that it took.

The world seems purified from all of its sins,
A magic that only Nature provides.
It seems to promise anew, to begin,
Through the cold, a warmth born inside.

No man could hope to create an event,
With such an awesome affect.
Though some would try hard to their fullest extent,
Nature's ability commands a respect.

Not only just in its most powerful state,
But in its most gentle, too.
It has strength in its gentle, that all can relate,
Changing conscience which no human can do.

About this poem:
This poem is under my © Copyright 1999-2010 by HMc . . I Wrote this piece after a Blizzard, While I watched how the attitudes of people became kinder, calmer, and more caring after a snow storm . . Your grumpy neighbor comes out, smiles, and he/she gladly helps you clear the snow from your driveway . . . yet on a sunny day he would be his/her grumpy neighbor self . . . An Amazing thing, Snow!. . I wonder if in a place where it snows quite frequently, if it has the same affect, as in places where it doesn't snow as often. ? . . . Be Blessed Always Everybody and thank you again for your reading my work.

Promises Kept

Promises kept, are more priceless than gold,
and gems that are found in the ground.
Promises kept, to the young and the old,
sends the world turning round and around.

Promises kept, in the light or the dark,
are important nevertheless.
Promises kept, even on Noah's ark,
can help all to pass the test.

Promises kept, will with stand all of time,
for the time it has no end.
Promises kept, by church bells that chime,
and hearts they help to mend.

Promises kept, in good times and bad,
builds trust in those who keep.
Promises kept, may be happy or sad,
From the keepers caring 's deep.

Promises kept, should be taught to the child,
for in his later years,
'Tis promises kept, all of them compiled,
that will halt the endless tears.

Intimacy

I want to know you so complete,
Explore each lovely inch of you,
With lips and tongue and fingertips,
Until I know you through and through.

And would you do the same to me?
To leave no part at all untouched,
While loving me so thoroughly,
This is the love I need so much.

Sharing our thoughts and how we feel,
As we nestle in love's embrace.
Telling each other all details,
While our whole lives to here we trace.

This is the way I see our love,
How I would have our life to be.
Nothing held back to stand between,
Intimacy of you and me.

A Time for Letting Go

My one constant companion,
Throughout my adult life.
But soon to be abandoned,
One dark and dreary night.

Been through almost ev'rything,
Together thick and thin.
I can't begin to tell you,
The places we have been.

I know that I will yearn for,
This friend that I have loved,
Time has come for moving on,
Now push has come to shove.

What must be will be, although,
I'll miss my friend, you bet.
Now at last the time has come,
For my last cigarette.

Honey, I'm Feeling Lonely, Honey, I'm Feeling Blue

Hey there, Baby, I'm all alone now, the kids are tucked in bed.
When you left just a few days ago, I remember what you said.
You said, "Babe, I really love you, the time will go by fast.
Before you know it, I'll be back and the future will be the past.
So keep your chin up and hold the fort down, give the kids a kiss each day.
Tell them, I'll bring them back a special gift, from a land quite far away."
Well, I've tried to take these words to heart, but the time is going slow.
I know you think that I'm real strong, but there's something you don't know;
And that is,

Honey, I'm feeling lonely, Honey, I'm feeling blue.
I wish that you were here with me, or I were there with you,
But what can't be, can't be, me with you, you with me,
So take my love into your heart and hold it tenderly.

Well, now Baby, in the daytime, the loneliness hides away.
But when the sun goes down and the lights go out, that's the loneliest time of day.
I can't help but want you near me, your warm touch and gentle kiss,
The pillow talk that we'd have each night is what I mostly miss.
I overheard our children praying, saying bring my Daddy home.
So tonight I felt it right to just sit down and write this poem.
We can't wait for you to come home, it'll be a special day.
It seems to help to write it down, and to say what I have to say.
Except for tonight when,

Honey, I'm feeling lonely, Honey, I'm feeling blue.
I wish that you were here with me, or I were there with you,
But what can't be, can't be, me with you, you with me,
So take my love into your heart and hold it tenderly.

Please, God, Bring Them All Home Safely!

Friends and Lovers

You don't have t'sleep on that ol' couch,
My bed is soft and warm.
Not tryin' to put no moves on you,
Don't mean you any harm.

But as they lay there side-by-side,
Him with his back to her,
There came a soft and timid voice,
That caused in him a stir.

"Can we cuddle?" she sweetly asked.
"Well, sure," came his reply.
And as her breasts pressed to his back,
He stopped to wonder why.

Does she want me or is this just,
A crying out for touch?
He pondered for a lengthy time,
Their friendship meant so much.

He fin'lly turned to her and kissed,
His need he did not hide.
They did not stop until they both,
Were fully satisfied.

So now they're friends with benefits,
I tell you that it's true,
You can be lovers and be friends,
This is my gift to you.

From the Heart

Some things come straight from the brain,
Some come from the heart.
And then there's stuff from lower down,
At least that's where they start.

No matter where it's comin' from,
Still goes through your head.
Yeah, sometimes that's a problem, too,
Get tangled up in threads.

But other times there is a need,
Give a little thought,
To what you write or what you say,
Before you throw it out.

Now some folks go a diff'rent route,
Always off the cuff,
And that's okay, if that's their way,
But can be kinda rough.

Well I prefer to run 'em through,
Whole chain link by link.
I ask my heart and ask my my mind,
"Hey gonads! What you think?"
