Still Clueless

"This is Cher and this is Inga."
Diver Dan said to me.
Two lovely girls, one short one tall,
A welcome sight to see.

The short one, Cher, was dark and cute.
Inga was blond and tall.
I set my sights on Cher at once,
Knowing that I might fall.

Café Benet in Vieux Carré,
In early morning light,
Our crullers dunked in chickory,
We'd all been up all night.

I talked and talked and tried to win,
The heart of that brunette.
To no avail, I tried and failed,
And nowhere did I get.

I later asked if Dan might know,
Her number or last name.
He told me no, and then he said,
That I'd misplayed the game.

He said that I'd caught Inga's eye,
For me her heart had yearned.
But sadly I'd found out too late,
To Sweden she'd returned.

And so it is with guys like me,
We always miss the train.
I didn't have a clue back then,
And clueless I remain.

On Sensuousness

A sensuous experience,
Can rise in many ways.
Delicious taste or setting sun,
Can each our senses raise.

But a sensuous encounter,
Between two loving souls,
Can light a fire within their loins,
And stoke the glowing coals.

As passions rise, the feelings grow,
To such intensity,
That they may tend to overwhelm,
In sensuous degree.

So when the passion's all been spent,
And breathing starts to slow,
Then what could be more sensuous,
Than love's sweet afterglow?

Finally comes the cuddling,
The sensuous embrace,
Entwined as one in soft repose,
Our senses face to face.

The Perfect Art

In humid gloom
she weaves her doom;

by moon's faint rays,
she spins to lay

her silken trap
of which one snap

will bring to naught
what she has sought:

namely a fly
that has to die

so that it can
perfect her plan.

Flawless her art,
weaving one part

of subtlest doom
in fetid gloom.

Earth Angel

She's was an angel in heaven, she was watching from afar.
She was his lucky seven, his bright and shining star.
She watches him when he sleeps at night, and comes to him in dreams.
She holds him in her wings so tight, she loves him to extreme.
She'll stay with him 'til the end of time, hand in hand she'll light his way.
The steepest hills she will help him climb, each and every day.
An order came from up on high, an answer to a prayer.
It was her charges heaven sent cry, needing her to go down there.
She was sent down to earth this day, to meet her special soul.
To guide him when he went astray, to fill his empty hole.
To bring him joy and happiness, that he prayed for every day.
To give him hope for his success, come rain or shine what may.
He passed her by a time or two, she'd smile and say hello.
This busy man had not a clue, yet he noticed her soft warm glow.
Then one night a guiding hand came down, and placed him in a room.
There she stood in evening gown, he could smell her sweet perfume.
They met each other once again, and danced the night away.
His life seems now not so mundane, prayers answered that he prayed.
Now little angels heaven sent, are at their feet at play.
Rocking on the porch content, their dark hair has now turned gray.
And when the children left that night, he reflected upon his past.
And he looked at her with eyes so bright, and then he had to ask,
"Whatever did I ever do, to have you in my life?
When you smiled and said I do, you became my loving wife.
And you were always there, to love and comfort me.
You took such loving care, you full filled my every need.
So now I'm going to ask, something I think I always knew.
So please remove your mask, and tell me 'Who ARE you?' "
About that time she looked at him, smiled, and her wings began to grow.
Sporting a halo bright and golden trimmed, she said "I'll have you know,
I am your angel from heaven, I was watching from afar,
I am your lucky seven, your bright and shining star.
I watch you when you sleep at night, and come to you in dreams.
I hold you in my wings so tight, I love you to extreme.
I'll stay with you 'til the end of time, hand in hand I'll light your way.
The ladder I will help you climb, for we're Heaven bound today."
As she took his hand in hers, and they lifted off the ground
You could hear him softly whisper, "There ARE Earth Angels to be found"

Song For You

A gale is raging.
Raindrops thrash
our blue-black
windowpanes.

Don't fear, love:
soon morning will
come like a flower
with petals of light.

Night Fight

'Twas in the darkened shadows,
Which were blacker than the night,
I heard the sounds of howling strong,
Two felines in a fight.

A neighbor from a window shouting.
"That's enough, go home!"
A quiet came upon the night,
And never did I roam.

But 'twas only a few minutes past,
The brawl began again,
And in the eyesight of my mind,
I wondered who would win.

A whine, a howl, a howl a whine,
Went ripping through the air.
'Twas not 'til morning would I know,
Just how the two would fair.

I thought I'd see in early light,
The victor or his foe,
But if 'twas not for the night before.
No signs were left to know.

About this poem:
I was just thinking about some things that we hear in the night. How in the morning, if we had slept through it all, often times we would never even know it happened at all.

I M 4 U - R O F L M A O

While trading emails or in chat,
If a joke you tell.
You couldn't hear me laughing so,
I'd have to LOL.

And If the joke was realy good,
The way that I would show,
How funny that I thought it was,
I'd just LMAO.

But if you told me something mean,
That made me wish I'd left,
To show my indignation then,
I'd WTF?

And at the converstation's end,
The chatty way to tell,
The person that you're signing off,
Is to TTYL.

But then there's the old fashioned way,
By far pedating text,
To tell someone just how you feel,
OXOXOX.

On Lonliness

Alone doesn't always mean lonely,
Sometimes solitude is just fine.
And lonliness can be just only,
A matter of your state of mind.

You have to be comf'trable living,
Within your owm skin first of all.
And then you can think about giving,
Some other lone spirit a call.

Perhaps you may then meet a kindred,
A yang to match up to your yin,
Some someone to catch your intentions,
Who's been to the place that you're in.

Don't worry there's somebody out there,
So til the right one comes along,
Just hold your head up like you don't care,
And greet each new day with a song.

This Old Porch Swing

I sit upon this old porch swing.
The creaking, moaning sounds, it sings.
Weathered wood and rusty chains.
The youth I had, through thoughts regained.

Between the trees a flicker flash of light.
At dusk, a humid, breeze less night.
Children chasing glowing stars.
To hold them tight in Mason jars.

Barefoot babes, green tarnished knees.
Playing games between the trees.
Mother May I, Hide And Seek.
Count to ten and don't you peek.

Memories come play with me.
Fill my mind so happily.
Remember slumber time on swing.
For this my mind to me did bring.

I sit upon this old porch swing.
The creaking, moaning sounds, it sings.
Weathered wood and rusty chains.
The youth I had, through thoughts remain.

A Doll Like You

I started out as an idea, place in a lady’s head,
She fashioned me of porcelain, and I listened as she said,
“For you I'll give you golden locks and eyes of baby blue,
And rosy cheeks and lips of red and pretty lashes too.”
I'll make you dimples on each cheek, and one upon your chin,
For you a smile just will not do, you'll have a special grin.
I'll give your eyes a loving spark, with just a dash of white,
And make them glisten happily, a clear glaze will catch the light.
I'll make some tiny stockings, and a pair of bloomers too,
And a slip made out of satin, trimmed in lace will only do.
I'll make for you a velvet dress, and a bonnet just to match,
I'll put upon your tiny feet, shoes that have a golden latch.
I'll fix your long and golden hair, into shiny finger curls,
And tie them with a long silk bow, that falls gently as it swirls.
I'll make your colors soft and sweet, as if in a flowered field,
I'll weave for you a basket, a cradled bouquet will be revealed.
I'll sign your nape with loving care, and place you in full view,
For you came from a loving heart, your life is now anew.
A little girl will come one day, and hold you oh so tight,
And whisper secrets in your ears, and pray with you at night.
She'll feel the love that created you, and gave to you your life,
And you'll be there to comfort her, though her hardest times of strife.
You'll share her joys and her pain, and to her you'll be so true,
What little girl upon this earth wouldn't want A Doll Like You?”
