The Options

To forgive,to move on,to shut down in fear
Or to leave for another place
It's all in the stories we get to hear
And the options we get to face
Depending upon what we think is right
A different path will unfold
Some awaits destiny dazzling and bright
While others so bitter and cold
Yet if we neglect to learn from the past
Do nothing but whine and complain
Life will insist that we simply must
And teach us again and again

Cold thorns

I came from heat were the summer is no treat
Stepped off the plane and froze my feet
Just getting to a warm place to eat
Felt like forever, put me back in the heat
I finally got warm no clothing was torn
A tear was a dare even my socks over my feet
The cold was like thorns removing all the heat
I must walk my dogs in this cold without heat
Along came a dutch girl looking like she was warm
How can it be so cold and she doesn't feel a thorn
She was walking so warm and very cozy almost hot
Like slow motion she moved, scarf swaying I must stop
That day I learned something and I grew a great grin
It can look like it's cold even feel like it too
It's really not true the cold isn't in you
When I arrived at my home I'd told what I'd seen
And I still tell that story to all it could mean
The cold is not a friend but to me it's not mean
I become like that dutch girl the heat won't beckon me

Live in Holland and enjoy it.

The junk collector`s bedtime story

It was found on the street, and then put in the trunk. And it topped off a full load of nothing but junk.Though it no longer ran,but was so very clean,`twas the junkiest junk that ever was seen. When I got it home, they said "see if it starts." Then I had noticed, its missing some parts. So I then looked around for some parts I could use, then I had thought, how much time could I lose? So I looked at the clock and I found lots of stuff. Then I had wondered,is all this enough? I got it to work.It worked well but was old.I decided to keep it unless it got sold. Many things have I found, all that had been thrown out,and that`s what this story was really about.

About this poem:
I wrote "The junk collector`s bedtime story"simply to put into words what is one favorite American pastime. As a part time flea market vendor,I just hate to see anything good going to waste. If I find stuff that nobody else wants,I will find out why they got rid of it.If I can fix it,OK.I might use it,keep it,sell it,or trade it.If nothing else, use it for parts to repair other stuff. Some stuff that`s no good I might still save to use as an example to match up replacement parts. If I find something and then discover that its` completely worthless,I can always just put it back where I found it.What really gets me is that people throw stuff out 5 minutes before they need it,only for me to fix it and sell it right back to them. The resale value is ultimately, only as much as what people are willing to pay.But if you have a lot of good used items,if you sell it for a cheap price, you won`t be able to sell it fast enough.

You don't see me...

I'm the sun in your eyes, but you don't see me, I wear no disguise yet you don't see me. I'm a total surprise and you don't see me... You don't see me.

from the Bible 1 Cor 13, 4-7

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

Still Free to a Good Home

Looking for happiness, looking for love,
Looking for someone with help from above,
Seeking a partner who's loving and kind,
Seeking that someone to be on my mind.

Where are those people who just have it all,
That know how to party and just have a ball?
The people who have that most wonderful way,
Who can make you feel happy and brighten your day.

I'm looking for someone to love and admire
To share all life's pleasures and set me afire.
Where have they gone to, where can they be?
Perhaps they're not looking for someone like Me!

The moon is so beautiful especially tonight
Caressing the darkness with it's soft gentle light
It feels like Im moving in circles when I look at the stars in the sky
Like when I stand on the shore watching the oncoming tides
And just for a moment at my own will
I could stretch out my arms and make time stand still

The sunrise is so beautiful especially today
Painting colors in the sky over a canvass of gray
For all that I've outlived and all I've outgrown
For all of the creatures that at times call me home
And just for a moment I felt a peace deep within
Because I never noticed before that I was such a gift

But now my landscape is ravaged and the shoreline is gone
And all of the creatures have already moved on
In the eye of a hurricane Im just a tree
Bending and breaking to its mercy
But in the midst of the chaos Im still standing strong
Beneath the moon and the sun all the heavens and God

Schönste Gefühl (Most Beautiful Feeling)

Es ist ein seltsames Gefühl habe ich
es kommt und geht in mir
kein Name davor erscheint

There is a strange feeling I have
it comes and goes within me
no name appears in front of it
as it were hidden in the night
its not illuminated by moonlight
the sun by day is not its friend
what is this strange feeling?
I do not know myself my mood
whether it means harm or good
only heaven knows the secret
and then a voice from there
said to me loud and clear:
this strange feeling is love
that's why you feel so cold
another time you feel so hot
the stars in heaven rejoice
to know you have this gift
and your eyes give it life
the moonlight and the sun
herald its revelation like
a flower blooming in the light
now that its known, tell me
what this feeling is called?
Its a familiar feeling indeed
to those who are lost a comfort
and to lovers everywhere
its the most beautiful feeling
to discover under heaven
a strange feeling given a name
is truly a sight to behold
that name for the ages to come
will under the blue sky
be known both to angels and mankind
from the loftiest heights to the earth
is the love in men's souls
and that alights the sun and the stars.

LifeThirst

Welcome, New Year, 2015

Hail to thee, the messenger of new hopes and aspirations,
Bring the message of a glorious life and inspirations,
We look forward to thee for you are yet a mystery
Who will someday become history,
But that history, we hope, will sing the song of victory,
Of human glory over all narrowness and misery.

Ich bin ganz zufrieden (I am quite happy)

Ich sehe das Meer
Ich freue mich auf den Mond
um mich herum
ist dunkel und still
Nur ruhig
mein Herz weiß
ist in dem Tempo
meiner ruhigen Atem
Ich lebe in einer Welt,
wo keine Blätter
rascheln im Wind
doch für das Leben von mir
Ich kann das Meer nicht sehen
aus meinen eigenen Platz -
im fernen Dunkelheit
erscheinen die Berge
Brüten in Geheimnis
wie mein Leben unerkennbar
so meine Hoffnung, der Liebe
noch, kann Ich mich nicht beklagen
da jeden Tag
Ich bin ganz zufrieden
mit dem, was lieben Gott
hat mich gesegnet.

I see the sea
I look at the moon
all around me
is dark and still
the only calm
my heart knows
is in the pace
of my quiet breath
I live in a world
where no leaves
rustle in the wind
yet for the life of me
I cannot see the sea
from my own place -
in far-off darkness
appear the mountains
brooding in mystery
like my life unknowable
as my hope of love
still, I don't complain
since every day
I am quite happy
with what Dear God
has blessed me.

About this poem:
I wrote the poem to say that what I lack is not as important as my serenity and everything I'm blessed with.

So many people complain and are resentful and I am grateful for what I do have and I learned how to give thanks for it.

Life can be lonely but even then I look forward to every day and appreciate being happy is all I need most in life.
