ONE BREATH OF KNOWLEDGE

ONE BREATH OF KNOWLEDGE

Baby tell me everything I need to know in one single breath
Describe to me having phun, having plans and having a child
Tell me in one long deep breath all about life and death
And how I should live with ease and stop living in the wild

In one solitary breath tell me to leave the forest for some tiny town
With one breath tell me precisely what it is I need to do
In one breath tell me to stop running around and to cool it and calm down
Take one oxygen granting breath and tell me all about the beauty of you

Simply lay down beside me and with only one breath begin to speak
Instruct me in what I need to finally and at last succeed
In one and only one breath teach me how to help the lame and the weak
Please baby, as naked as you are reveal all the meager things I really need

Don’t take another breath as you proscribe the way I should live
Tell me whether I’ll live or die if I don’t settle down somewhere
Describe to me the feeling if I stopped taking and learned how to give
Baby, in one soulful breath make everything I need to know crystalline clear

About this poem:
THIS IS A POEM WRITTEN BY THE HANDS OF SELFISH LADIES WHO
TAKE MEN'S FEELINGS FOR GRANTED
THE WOMEN WHO WATCH THE CLOCK RATHER THAN THE
SENENETY OF A LAKE
THE ONES WHO HAVE NO INTENTION OF GIVING
BUT ARE EXPERTS IN HOW TO TAKE
SIGNED BY ONE WHO GIVES MUCH NORE THAN HE TAKES!

SOMEONE WHO COULD EASILY SELL HIS WORDS BUT WOULD RATHER GIVE THEM
AWAY FOR FREE

AL DI LA MY LOVE

AL DE LA MY LOVE

You and I had everything calculated and planned
We were just following fate and its every command
Two souls were going to find forever in an unexpected land
And neither of us would dare to defy destiny’s demand

We were supposed to last a lifetime together no matter what
That was this man and his lady’s predetermined plot
No one could rattle our teacups or shake up the place
Not as long as two lovers had the other’s embrace

I recall adding and subtracting and then reaching a perfect sum
We were sitting on a settee having biscuits and sharing one glass of rum
We shared everything including time, smiles and each other’s past
But simply because a person says “forever” doesn’t mean it will last

Because you hit a rocky road and a curve at too great a speed
You died and I didn’t believe death could be so easily decreed
We were acting in haste while all the time we thought, devised and planned and sadly together we will never find that forever’s clandestine land

Fame and Stardom

Attainment of success, stardom and fame
Remains the ultimate dream of many
Who seek the publication of their name
Upon the future pages of history

The journey to such a destination
Requires effort and dedication
Those who at last gain such recognition
Enjoy a well deserved satisfaction

Some celebrities who make this journey
Find coping with this new life can be rough
There's an invasion of their privacy
And the demands of stardom can be tough

They then turn to some drug to ease the stress
Whether it's alcohol or other stuff
Soon their entire life can become a mess
And dealing with it's pressures can be rough

Bouts of anxiety and depression
Are what they have to endure constantly
Some develop a serious addiction
That may lead to suicidial tendency

Women tend to choose a gentler ending
Like drug overdose or a means that's neat
Some may opt to end it all by hanging
Mindful not to mess up the body sheath

Some men go for a violent ending
By putting a bullet through their own head
Others jump off a bridge or tall building
Seeking to ensure that they will be dead

Those aspiring to fame and stardom
Pursue your dream and goal diligently
Just be mindful of how things can become
And seek to be guided accordingly

What a Pain!

The pops and creaks and grunts and groans,
Are caused by my condition.
Arthritis, not old age, you see,
Puts me in this position.

Still young of heart and mind I am.
With wild imagination.
Just aching joints spread here and there,
That cause me irritation.

I try hard not to let it show,
This awful aching pain.
But if perhaps you catch a wince,
Arthritis once again.

I do some carpentry at times,
Some painting and some plumbing.
Each take their toll, my body pays,
Just wishing for some numbing.

But work I must, so off I go,
Into the breech once more.
Just take it slow and carefully,
As I go out the door.

There's some folks seem to understand,
And some who never can.
They think my pain a weakness so,
Think me a lesser man.

I hope one day they find a cure,
To end this woeful mess.
But until then, I'm what you see,
In pain and under stress.

Don't get me wrong, I can't complain,
There's others facing more.
I wish them well, a healing wish,
Their wholeness to restore.

Body Mine

Body mine which house my soul,
Ask I you,
Pray not withhold,
Answers which I seek of self,
Answers only,
Not for wealth,
Not for love,
And not for joy,
Not for peace,
Or foes destroyed,
All I find,
In wanting heart,
What I’ll be,
When you depart?

Corrupted sponge within my head,
What beliefs do I portend?
Sanguine drum within my breast,
Whom do I admire best?
Able arms and fingers quick,
Might I mold a world so sick?
Noble leg of muscle sprung,
Towards what destiny I run?
Seeing orbs still seeing naught,
Look around, what hath I wrought?
Aural pinwheels perched away,
What subtleties do I betray?
Shoulders broadly proud and straight,
Can I bear a worldly weight?
Stalwart gut of iron clad,
Sense I emoted contraband?
Silver tongue of caustic tone,
Do I offend and stand alone?

Body mine which house my soul,
If my request may be so bold,
Tell me truth of questions posed,
Tell me destiny betrothed.

Blighted shadow, future day,
Always must it end this way?

casing affections

whether in deep of dark
whether brightest of noonday
there's always eyes askance
casing out the come-what-may

checking angles broadly obtuse
to meaning of some stances
and other sideways glances
seeing what they can deduce

dressed in black sleek style
with shiny silent-soled shoes
steeling their desires awhile
looking affections to peruse

undecided won't be chided
on what may happen possibly
taking what comes in stride
capers can happen plausibly

who's the thief and who's
the hapless victim can be
in love's game hard to choose
pilfered affection too pat to see

yet if i am your prize you
might then surmise that i too
a second-story man pull a coup
to steal your heart, in full view

just be aware that life ain't fair
and goods are taken every day
some want more than a share
of hearts affections to take away

And then?

Whoever knows what was said,
in passions grasp, unruly head,
tis not to wisdom I was born,
or kindred spirit in other form,
and time will pass and play its game,
committed all,,,we end the same.
lessons learned and then begone,
just some rehearsal for another
song.

Ode To a Rosebud

Sweet rosebud, oh so pink and pretty,
You hold yourself so tightly closed
Until the time is right for op'ning,
Then petals spread, so all exposed.

You open when the time arises,
When warm and gentle breezes blow.
When the world is is right and synchronized,
In Mother Nature's gentle flow.

Or at times when need to fertilize,
Becomes the overpow'ring thing.
When your opening becomes a joy,
Tis then you cause my heart to sing.

Oh dear rosebud you have won my love,
I dedicate this ode to you.
We all know what makes the rose grow best,
The sparkling drop of morning's dew.

New Year Hopes and Wishes. (Edited).

Last year expired to sounds of Auld Lang Syne,
The bells of Christmas past are heard no more,
A 'New Year Toast' is raised with mulled red wine,
Before December bills come through the door.

New resolutions made with fervent mind,
So sadly most are destined not to last,
And in such broken promises you'll find,
A mirrored image of a failed year passed .

Act kindly to a pauper on the street,
Is all your spare cash for the bargain sales ?
Give help to some old pensioner you meet,
Or will it be another of your fails ?

Though '21 it was a trying year,
We must dig deep...for coping skills to delve,
Farewell old year, I doubt we'll shed a tear,
I couldn't wait to hear the clock strike twelve.

I send you all good tidings with fine cheer,
Straight from the Em'rald Isle across the miles,
May all your Covid worries disappear,
And future frowns may all revert to smiles.

THE HEVENTIES

This man had a plan, man
Yet I never considered a bridge the seventies would be made to span, man
Either everything I dreamed of would die and turn unto dust
Or the universe would agree with the topic we two had discussed
The universe and I agreed that I owned the nineteen seventies until they end
And that was my right even the universe would defend
I wasn’t so much a rebel as I was a letch lost in the woods
But back in the seventies you could always find me in the wrong neighborhoods
If it was of an urgent matter that you had I’d make time for you
And I was the man to see if you wanted something illicit to do
I owned midnight, noon, and I owned music and the moon
And the dances people did were always to my tune
Then, when the sun would wave its way away
I realized there was now one less day
One less day since I owned the seventies and all it comprised
But I would never be bought down since the seventies wouldn’t be compromised
It felt beneficial to awake and know you owned today
Yet comprehend that the inevitable will eventually turn my hair gray
And then came New Year’s Eve to welcome in a new year
Alas I was the only one to shed a sorrowful tear
Because what I did when I owned the seventies attracted the attractive ladies
ALAS, I remember a tender ten years until the seventies gave way to the eighties
