Aloneness is different from loneliness
It is an occasion for personal growth
It gives an insight into humanness
And helps us realize our self worth
Being with others continually
Denies us from ever having a chance
To look at ourselves objectively
To build up our own self reliance
Self reliance is the key to coping
With acute periods of adversity
It provides us with an inner strengthening
To overcome and claim the victory
Self reliance is extremely vital
To avoid the feeling of loneliness
Which can happen when there is denial
Of other's support and togetherness
If you feel contentment in aloneness
It can help you to avoid a pitfall
It provides an inner based happiness
Which is the greatest happiness of all

My days are long and my nights longer still
As I sit here watching this little pill
Will it remove the gloom I feel inside
Or will it just provide a chance to hide
When it wears off, am I back to square one
With an even greater gloom to take on
I have tried all the normal avenues
Yet I still continue feeling the blues
What is it that I really need to do
To rid this gloom and become myself true
Deep inside me, there's a fighting spirit
Saying to face this gloom and conquer it
Connecting with Nature provides an ease
Listening to the sound of a gentle breeze
While it's passing through the surrounding trees
Serenading them with the rustling leaves
I shall draw my strength from the divine source
In whose awareness I do not feel lost
I know I shall overcome finally
And once again my spirit shall be free

I gaze up at the round bright winter’s moon,
watching and drifting in wonder of you.
Have you felt a tug at your heart or sleeve?
Has a voice called out you were sure you knew?
Have you thought on it, over and over,
how souls seek each other, then meet by fate?
I whisper my wish for our paths to cross.
I’m patient, though sometimes I curse the wait.
Your deep soothing voice echoes within me.
I imagine your eyes...a familiar light.
Let my thoughts be the beacon that guides you,
bridging the distance between us this night.
All-knowing face of the bright winter’s moon,
nestled in a sea of ten trillion stars...
guide him to me through a brief pause in time,
and grant us a life of love that is ours.
Have we not waited and searched long enough?
Have we not paid every debt that we owe?
I long for the feel of him in my arms...
my love, my heart, he, the soul of my soul.

About this poem:
This poem speaks for itself. I am sending my intentions for the one I seek, out to the Universe and I await it's positive reply. Blessed be. May this poem find its way to the eyes and heart of he who will know that my calling is for him alone.

Once upon a time some poets would gather
And write poems of their choice
It was beautiful and lovely
It allowed each poet to have a voice
Comments made on those poems
Were lovely to read and digest
The comments inspired the poets
And gave them a feeling of being blessed
To all those poets I wish to say
It was great to have your work read
May your lives be blessed evermore
Thank you for what we have shared
And now, all you dearest poets
You can look back at those days
They were all so wonderful and happy
Oh yes, those were the days
La-la-la-da-da-da
La-la-la-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da

About this poem:
I posted my first piece here on CS Poetry Corner in June 2013. There was a great camaraderie among the poets then and the subsequent years. It was a wonderful feeling that inspired other poets and myself in our writing.
I have written this piece in honour of those days.
It was inspired and motivated by the song:
“Those Were The Days” by Mary Hopkins

What awaits on the other side
After death takes one's breath away
Billions have taken that last ride
Yet what awaits no one can say
A belief is just a belief
It may provide some with solace
And give a measure of relief
But it's not a proof in this case
All persons will know the answer
When death comes knocking on their door
That's all that can be said thus far
And how it may be evermore

About this poem:
“Strange, is it not? that of the myriads who
Before us pass'd the door of Darkness through,
Not one returns to tell us of the Road,
Which to discover we must travel too.”
(Omar Khayyam – The Rubaiyat, verse 46)
Omar Khayyam was a Persian mathematician, astronomer, and poet.
He was born on May 18, 1048 and died on December 4, 1131.
The verse of his poem quoted was written more than nine centuries ago. The message of his poem still holds today.
My poem, “The Other Side”, is in line with the quoted verse from Khayyam's poem and is not meant to disparage the religious beliefs of anyone.

Stains on yellowed linens,
On arms of easy chair,
Tear stains on a pillow,
And stains in underwear.
Coffee stains on tables,
From burning midnight oil.
Stains on faded bluejeans,
From gas and grease and soil.
Tar stains on crooked teeth,
From years of sucking smoke.
And similar addictions,
Like coffee, tea and Coke.
Stains that tell a story,
Of life lived day by day,
Until the final staining
As life's blood drains away.

to decide how things must be
or tell you what is best for you, nor
clothes of a bystander wear, watching silently
while you are threatened or killed.
So, in your life, what role do I play?
How does one make a difference
but not get in your life’s way?
Questions that haunt are deeply instilled.
Searching for answers, pecking the keys
to type paved pathways to freedom
Doors and hearts opened, fingers squeezed
back-spacing over hatred, a better life to build.
With wounds and demons to fight
both from within and without, all
as our circle closes tightly, under harsh light,
ozone comes through holes waiting to be filled.
Though within the spectrum of light lies,
within its whiteness, colors, we cannot see
those bands of caring that span the skies
until by refraction rainbow-beauty is spilled.
While it is not for me to decide
or to tell you what is best for you
It is for me with you to abide
together, by beveled mirror, revealed.

Trudged outside to drive to work
Warmed the car and applied some torque
Wheels spinning and going nowhere
Except downwards until I didn't care
Seems I'm stuck I saddly lamented
A mild spell made snow soft I vented
What should I do now I thought
Phone in to work and explain I ought
Whatever will I do with myself today
For in my house I am forced to stay
Well I'll happily while away the hours
Go to PC before my disposition sours
A happy place where I may jest and fun
Somewhere they laugh at my bad puns
A place where people always lend a hand
No buried heads in the pages or the sand
A wondrous place of creativity and mirth
Simply not like any other on this earth
Where kindness and sympathy abides
Understanding as constant as the tides
A place where the sun is always shining
They gladly listen to my constant wining
A place where people are reaching out
Sanctuary where I can scream and shout
Now that I've got your attention
Glorified all as helpful by intention
Do you consider it less than absurb
Could you all push my car past the curb??

We all have our limit,
Just how much we can take,
Til we blow a gasket,
Before we start to break.
Some go off so easy,
Their trigger is a hair.
Always on the threshold,
Without a nerve to spare.
I am not so touchy,
And can take quite a bit.
But when I've had enough,
There comes that raging fit.
Anger clouds the senses,
Throws judgement out the door,
Blows out of proportion,
And shakes us to the core.
So let's all try and see,
If we can raise the bar,
Maybe all together,
Perhaps prevent a war.
