Merry Christmas and Happy birthday Jesus

Happy holy birthday Jesus,
wishing you a Merry Christmas,
Bless my family in poetry corner,
From those i know and across borders!

Tonight i praise my Holy Father,
God of Isreal and the Saviour,
Holy , holy , holy be thy Name,
for now and forever the same!

Thank you for guidance,
Our Holiest Spirit,
and tears of joy i shed,
and paint this place Red!

Tonight we are as one,
Poetry member each and everyone!
I share this special dedication,
with my poetry family contribution.

Bless the world and save our souls,
May our hearts never grow cold,
May the spirit burn with divine love,
we share and greet with grace from above.

Amen ...Amen thy holy day we celebrate,
Amen...amen thy name we say today,
Amen ...amen with every man , woman and child,
Amen ..amen ...Merry Christmas one and ALL !!!

Christmas joy

As I walk along the streets
All I see and hear
Are little boys snd girls with their scarfs and mittens
screaming with Christmas joy
They see Santa sitting on his sleigh
Rainderrs in tow
Christmas carolers
Seeing merrily
While standing under the beautiful christmas tree
The young and old laughing so joyfully
Holding hands stealing kisses
I can't help but smile
That was me not long ago
Skipping down the streets merrily
Here's wishing all of you
A very merry Christmas
Filled with much love, peace and joy !

TRUE CHRISTMAS

Is a true Christmas really about Santa and Toys
Or is it about Angels singing with great Joy
Elves dressed up in bright clothes and tights
Three Wisemen following the Bethlehem starlight

Shopping elbow to elbow with strangers
Our Lord and Savior Jesus born in a manger
All about flying reindeer and sleighs
Or the promise of our sins being taken away

Lights, partying and food galore
Celebrating the coming of our Lord
A man dressed in red that’s a myth
God giving the World his greatest gift

Receiving a bunch of gifts and having fun
Thanking God for giving his only begotten Son
Is Christmas totally and completely material
Or about being forgiven and receiving Life Eternal

About this poem:
Christmas has changed to commercialism along with changing Merry (Christ)mas to Happy Holidays. Mankind needs to return to what Christmas is really about.

Lighting the Way

Holiday lights color
December moments.
Their primary colors glow
through the darkness -
yet cannot compete
with the brightness of stars
that shine and self-consume
in their passion to ignite
direction to weary travelers.

Each bulb on the
Christmas string burns
with such low intensity
it cannot kindle the most
delicate branch to blaze -
yet, year after year, attempts
to mimic nature in a twinkling show
of presence, and perhaps substance,
in a world trying to find its way.

About this poem:
I love this season…a cause to ponder meaning within creation, including what we create and celebrate. While recognizing the illuminary icons that lighted our path to the present and those who lead us into the future, we should not underestimate the power of our own efforts to get others as well as ourselves through the darkness of life's winters into the light.

HALLOWS' EVE (Response to Halloween Challenge)

HALLOWS’ EVE

A Cold black night with a full moon
A howl on the wind sings an eerie tune
It is Hallows' Eve and the creatures are roaming
There are eyes everywhere – can see them glowing

As the night goes on anyone can see
Them roaming all around – different looking beings
There are zombies, witches, goblins and ghosts
It is hard to count which has the most

Whines – screams – growls – howls
The Devil and his demons are on the prowl
They are wandering the streets and roads outside
Knocking on doors demanding to come inside

Fear is rampant as they become hungry
If you don’t feed them – things could get ugly
Not daring to turn on or off the light
Knowing they’ll keep coming all night

There’s a knock on the door – oh no!
Will it be a friend or foe?
Opening the door carefully to see
A little voice pipes up “Trick or Treat”!

New Year's Message

While the future
with all of its possibilities
is beyond our direct control
each moment
does its part
to set the stage.

'Tis my hope
as the new year unfolds
that each of you
continues to find your stage
a most welcoming place
full of wonderful possibilities.

Wishing you a
year of moments
to embrace
and enjoy
in celebration of life.
Happy New Year!

Christmas Poem.....with a thought...

Wine and turkey….
Log and Puddings…
Warmth from the fire..
Laughter….
Sure looks good from out here….

I tighten my tattered coat...and wonder
Where would I fit the Christmas Tree…?
In this cardboard box…
I call my Home

Thanksgiving Dinner

I had a dinner at friends' for Thanksgiving.
The turkey was quite moist and very tastey too.
The mashed potatoes with just a little butter would be forgiving.
Sweet potatoes glazed and not. I should check out the two.
Just one bun with butter. The rye bread should be good for me.
Carrots and green beans so very healthy also.
A heap of stuffing as I don't want to offend you see.
A chunk of ham will compliment don't you just know
Oh look pickles, several kinds. I think 6 will suffice..
Pickled cauliflower I must remind myself of the flavour
Oh of course cranberry sauce to add zing. Surely not a vice.
A glass of wine and an apperatif will go down very well if I just savour.
Pumpkin pie and a tea or what would Thanksgiving be.
I give thanks for family, food and friends
But most of all I give thanks to the last adequate sufficiency.
The several antacid pills I used finally at the end.

The Ghost of Halloween

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

Big guys with chainsaws revving loud,
Fake blood and spiders hanging down,
Screams and eerie music blaring,
Sheets floating cross the "haunted" town.

These places don't do much for me,
Guess kids are more who they are for.
My mem'ries are of dressing up,
And traipsing, begging door to door.

Course we had to soap some windows,
Or TP houses without light.
Up and down the blocks we hurried,
With candy on our minds that night.

When all the goodies had been got,
And all the pumpkins' candles gone,
We'd drag our bags back home again,
While vainly trying not to yawn.

Now's my turn to carve the pumpkin,
And hand out goodies at the door.
But very few come round it seems,
The spirit's gone forevermore...

About this poem:
Last year there were only six kids came to the door. These youngsters get too much every day and don't have the ambition to walk from the car to the porch... Ah well, that's just one old curmudgeon's opinion

Caribbean love

Roosters crowing
Moonshine glowing
Warm winds blowing,
Blue sky's singing
Sunshine gleaming
Rivers streaming
Raindrops trinkling
Ocean's mesmerizing
Fruits bearing,
Fresh vegetation
Great meditation
reggae playing
Soca swaying
Sweet sounds all around
Jerk chicken
Fried fish,
deliciousness fills the air
love is the atmosphere
Simple living
Smiles always giving
No worries or cares
Just love being there!!!!
