A letter to Santa!

A letter to Santa!

Dear Santa, I’m too large to sit upon your lap

And before you take your long winter’s nap

I want an adult Santa’s present, so I’m asking you

For A loving woman that needs and wants a loving man present too

I want a present that I can share

Want her with me, everywhere

Maybe start on a romantic date

With Hot chocolate drinks and Christmas sweets upon her plate

I want to take her home with me

Take her home to see my Christmas tree

Sit by a warm fire close to her

Sing Christmas songs our heart's to stir

Want her to have a heart as large as mine

Such a woman is hard to find

Santa please search the world on your sleigh

Find such a loving one for me today

Make her pleasant and full of fun

Face aglow, smiling like the rising sun

Happiness, laughing made for two
Only such a one will do!

Have your elves make a beautiful ring for me

To give to her for the world to see

Awaiting my Santa’s package of love!

Merry Christmas!

Valentine's Day

The word Valentine comes from a priest
The priest named Valentine
He married couples against the law of the state
Went to prison and died for his good deeds
The ruler at the time needed lots of soldiers
Married men didn't have to go to war
While in prison Valentine healed the jailer's daughter
His prayers brought back her sight
Before he was to be executed he left her the first Valentine signed
"Your Valentine"

Christmas Blues Poem

Embedded image from another site

It's Christmas time
only coming once a year
Salvation Army people singing
soon family will be here...

Light the candles
let's decorate the tree
lot's of nice presents
to open for you and me...

Baby Santa Claus is coming
Jingle Bells times three
I hear you in the kitchen
cooking up a Christmas Jamboree...

It's all about peace on earth
there's not many stockings on the wall
love is what counts baby
good will towards all...

Just you and me
a fire before the tree
as I cuddle with you
on this Christmas Jamboree..

Take Two: Travel - A Challenge

Travel Challenge Anyone???

I've been posting here for more than three years now maybe longer. This was my Shangrila and am sure the same to most. That changed when I met my husband, I found a Shangrila a real one in his heart and mind...and intend to keep it that way. I've made Mackay my home...and for reasons beyond my control at this point I am anchored, pretty much grounded...Under-wrap so to speak while work is in progress. I have spent a lot of time in hangars in the past and I have likened my current state to a wingless Airbus or a Boeing 747 grounded for maintenance;-)

I was born, brought up and moulded with an itchy feet and an insatiable yearning for adventure. I am a sucker of all things open spaces, green and brown and in between... spectacles of this wonderful thing called Nature!

With technology and internet at hand We can whisk each other across the globe. If we can fall in love without touching each other or not knowing if we've fallen for a scammer...no reason why we can't travel. How good would it be to travel without lifting our butts or needing passports to cross international borders and most of all without spending bucks...

Unsure of how each of you will react but this friend of yours is eager to find out if you'd care to join me travel around by sharing your favourite place in mind. Your Numero Uno place to go to. The one place that leaves in your heart. Or where you long to go all year round. If it takes your breath away, it'll take mine without a doubt! So take me, take us with you as you make your way!

NB: I've been thinking about this a long time. I knew if I just wait someone will put the challenge out. But so far none has come up with it and I am considering of maybe leaving PC indefinitely to focus on the home front and for my own sanity. I have started a blog for my poetry...I hope you'll come and visit me there one day when the page is ready.

I thought I should give this a go just in case there are others like me who has dreams of seeing places they know they might never see. Sometimes there are reasons we can't travel ... Time, finances, health, family and many more...and maybe just far too many in our bucket lists...so why not go there virtually, it's the next best thing I think.

Just to see how far we can go... Rather than just posting your individual poems, please return to this post once you have posted and leave us the link to your poem so people reading this can be linked to it...Thanks you for participating

About this poem:
The mission is for us to be transported from our desk, living room or bedroom to a place we haven't been. Accompanying visuals and images most desirable and most welcome! And if you'd rather create a video to go with it..even better.

Thank you once again... I'd like to see what everyone thinks... Keeping my fingers-crossed...

King of Christmas * Shadow's Challenge *

My wishlist for Christmas?...That Christ lives within us...
Though I am a bit saddened, my sins have worn thin...
Therein lies the truth, how could truth be a lie?
It can't, it's within, every pore of His skin....

JACK O LANTERN

HE ONLY SHINES FOR ONE NIGHT OF THE YEAR; BUT ONCE YOU SEE HIS LIT UP ANGRY FACE; YOU ARE SURE TO GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY FOR GRACE! HIS FRIENDS CONSIST OF; GOBLINS AND WITCHES WHO DWELL ON SCARING PEOPLE, WHILE DIGGING THEIR DITCHES! YES, THIS NIGHT IS SO WELCOME TO JACK AND HIS MANY EVIL FRIENDS; BUT WAIT TIL THE NEXT DAY, WHEN THE ANGELS APPEAR, AND RETIRE JACK AND HIS FRIENDS, TO AN ANGELIC END; UNTIL NEXT YEAR!

Another year all shiny new,
What will it bring? How will we do?
Will there be fame and fortune great?
Will all our troubles then abate?

Some moan and wail in sad lament,
About time wasted, poorly spent.
Oh how has all our precious time,
Gone up in smoke while we reclined?

The past is past no need to cry,
Don't waste your tears or even sigh.
With each new dawn new hopes arise,
In every night stars fill our skies.

Let this year bring good times to all,
Peace and comfort on each befall.
May love be strong and pure and true,
My fervent wish to all of you.

Thanks Giving/Giving Thanks

The meaning of T’day has transcended
from its beginning: our sharing together
with indigenous people who innocently gave
in times of sickness and chilling weather.

From those days when we readily took
from them all of which they shared
while ’round the table of community we
partook of the meal that was prepared.

To their trusting welcome, we replied
with greed and want of possession
so much so that by force we took much
of their lands with egregious aggression.

Throughout the years this did continue,
this giving then taking back more,
until with little reservation they live
with minuscule resources left in store.

Dispersed amidst the clatter of our laws
with pride, strength, resilience, determination
First People have sought legal ways to
reclaim some of what was once their nation.

On this day, may we celebrate Thanksgiving,
by learning to judge our wealth by care—
not by what and how much we own—and
take steps toward a world we all can share.

Schoolhouse Christmas Tree

They were living in a rundown place, some call it a labor shack
Two tiny bedrooms for seven kids, with a privy out the back;
Dad was a farmer's hand, but work was slow that year,
They were scrapin' ends to feed the kids, as Christmastime drew near.

There wouldn't be a Christmas tree, and gifts would be mighty few
A pair of socks for each kid,maybe a paper doll or two;
Couldn't afford a turkey dinner, so an old hen would have to do,
Perhaps a homemade apple cake to go along with the chicken stew.

Children went to a little country school, not too many miles away
That had been decorated with a Christmas tree to celebrate the holiday;
Strung with tinsel and paper chains with a gold tin foil star on top,
The youngest boy stared at that tree 'til it seemed his eyes would pop.

It was the last day of classes before the holiday
The little lad had hung around while his siblings went on their way;
He was still in the room and I wondered what was wrong,
"What happens to the Christmas tree, when everyone is gone?"

"I suppose we'll have to throw it out,I have one already at home
"No one'll be here over the holidays, so the tree will be here alone".
That little fellow got an idea as he gazed at the sparkling tree,
His next question nearly broke the heart of an old country teacher like me.

"Folks can't afford a tree this year,Do you think it will be all right
If I took it home so we can have a tree on Christmas night?
It seems an awful pretty tree to be left alone on Christmas Day,
I know it would make my family happy, if it could come to stay".

I fear a tear ran down my cheek when I heard that little elf
Ask for a tree to cheer his family, and ask naught for himself;
"That's a wonderful idea!"Smiling through my tears, let's load it in my car,
Then you and I can take it to your house, and you can you carry the star".

We lovingly placed that tree in my trunk, still decorated with silver foil
And drove it to that little shack, a few miles off blacktop oil;
His mother came to the front door when we pulled up to the drive,
If he had gotten into trouble, she'd skin that boy alive.

"I hope you don't mind, but could you do a favor for me?
School's out for the holidays, and don't know what do do about this tree;
Your son fears it will be lonely, and he offered it a place to stay,
"I'll understand if you say no, but I'd just hate to throw it away".

I could see her swallow her pride, when her boy handed her the star
Then a smile lit upon her face,as she helped take the tree from my car;
"It's so kind of you to offer,it'll sure help make this house a home,
And I agree that a Christmas tree, should never spend Christmas alone".

Leprechaun Editorial

I know what you want
You want my gold coins
My little darlings!
The 100 gold coins I have in my pot
Well, you can't have any of them!
If you steal one of my coins you can make a wish
Any wish you want will be granted
Except for one
A Leprechaun's charm can do him no harm
If you want to destroy me you have to destroy my gold
But I know you are too greedy to do the right thing
That will be your doom!
Another thing that can protect you if you decide to steal me gold
A four leaf clover
Good luck finding one
Only one exists for every 10,000 clover
Stay away from the end of a rainbow and my gold
That's my opinion
What do you think?

About this poem:
I based this on the Leprechaun movies. Leprechaun 3 is my favorite. He goes to Las Vegas. He has some funny quotes. "This town is full of riches, I'll rip them off, those nasty sons-a-b#$%@es!"
