2015

Another year in the can
What did I do to prove I'm a man?
I golfed every course
Eating at many different places because I love food of course
I bought three Mama's Family on DVD
I bought a new record player for me
I made the most money I ever made in a year
I couldn't find any new music I love to hear
I did buy Piano in the Dark by Brenda Russell
I also got Make it Real by The Jets, cause they know how to hustle
I went to a Packer game
105 bucks a ticket? That part was lame!
I went to a wedding of a friend
I choked singing "The Girl Is Mine", more courage is what I need
I saw Star Wars and Mockingjay
They were both good, I don't want to give anything away
I hope 2016 is good for you and me
Who knows what new fun things you and I will see

~ A Christmas Ring ~

~ A Christmas Ring ~

Wish upon your Christmas Tree

Maybe it will come true

A ring around your Finger

Would it be just right for you?

A Christmas Tree wish for Connecting Singles

Wishing that wish comes true!

Does he know your size and what to say or do

A Christmas ring will bring you happiness

When you hear him say!

Will you be his girl forever, on this Christmas day

Give him love and affection

From your loving heart

~ You will live and love together and never, never part ~

Merry Christmas
Rings on her fingers
Bells on her toes

Will he give her a ring this Christmas
Only heaven knows!

New Years Resolutions 2018

Be 165 pounds
Love people for who the are
Win the Lottery
Forgive my enemies, friends, family, and myself
Drink only two pops a week
Read one hour a day and exercise one hour a day
Visit my friends once a week
Fly out to California and road trip to Redwoods National Park
Get a job where I can look forward to going to work
Juggle outside once a week
Get an electric bike
Appreciate the time I have with my friends, family, and coworkers
Eat fruits and vegetables every day
Cook at home four times a week
Write at least five times a week in my journals
Worry less, a lot less
Forget about the past
Live and Love

2020 vision

It takes a virus
To screw the world
A 2020 vision
Of how the year rolled

We became aware
Of the Covid
Spreading through air
On the waves of scare
And had to adapt
To new routines
Such as lockdowns
And quarantines
The fever of fear
Has fogged our mind
It was going crazy
From feeling confined
Not to mention
The daunting task
Of wearing a mask with style
To hide
That happy contagious smile

Things may get better
One day
Pay some attention
To what news have to say
Fresh out of trials
Vaccine is on its way
So get ready
To roll up your sleeves
Or when in doubt
Stock up
On supplements and vitamins

No matter what the trend
We’ve got our circle of
Virtual friends

Christmas Wishes!

Christmas Wishes!

May your Christmas tree be adorned and topped with an Angel of heavenly joy!

Sprinkled with snow flakes and streamers of ornate garland wrapped around your Christmas tree

Beautiful Christmas ornaments festooned throughout
It’s boughs!

Strings of colored bulbs all aglow

Silvered tinsel and garland draped over branches
With gifts of love placed beneath the tree!

Tis the time of hanging of the Holly,
kisses and gift giving!

May the Christmas Spirit dance with you
Throughout the Holidays!

“Merry Christmas”

TRINI CHRISTMAS ( Shadow's Challenge)

It's painting and baking,
With scents mingling
And chairs varnishing
The cutlery polishing...

Is pork or turkey,
What ever's your fancy
Delivery trucks pulling up to the entry,
Merchants in their glee
As children play merrily...

Neighbors go a-paranging,
Some husbands go a-drinking
Some wives are a-gossiping
About the neighbor's last year curtain...

Sorrel and ginger beer
Black cake everywhere
Pastelles in abundance this time of year
And if we ever see snow, I'll stop and stare
Cuz shucks, we're just in the wrong hemisphere

About this poem:
Well I tried to give a picture of trini Christmas...lol and still feels like I left much out....

A P.S Thanks to Socrates.....

"In Trinidad, traditional parang music is largely performed around Christmas time, when singers and instrumentalists (collectively known as the parranderos) travel from house to house in the community, often joined by friends and neighbours family etc. using whatever instruments are to hand. Popular parang instruments include the cuatro (a small, four-string guitar) and maracas (locally known as chac-chacs). Other instruments often used are violin, guitar, claves (locally known as toc-toc), box bass (an indigenous instrument), tambourine, mandolin, bandol, caja (a percussive box instrument), and marimbola (an Afro-Venezuelan instrument). In exchange for the entertainment, parranderos are traditionally given food and drink: pastelle, sorrel, rum and "Ponche Crema" (a form of alcoholic eggnog)."

Black cake - the main ingredients are fruits (such as raisins and sultanas) that have been soaked in cherry wine, sherry and Caribbean rum for several months before Christmas. Additional rum is poured over the cake after it has been baked.
It can even make one "drunk" if eaten in large amounts.

Santa Interview

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and answer some questions Santa. First, how come I have never seen you?

Santa: I have a lot of stops to make in just one night, so I move so fast that you cannot see me.

How many presents did you deliver last year?

Santa: I delivered 21 billion, 256 million, 754,033 presents last year, that's alot of lifting.

So how do you fit all those presents into your sleigh?

Santa: Thanks to majic I can put all the presents in my majic Santa sack, and they come out in the order that I visit each house, apartment, teepee, mudhut, whatever.

How can you afford to buy all those gifts?

Santa: I have my own diamond mine, gold mine, platinum mine, and Yukon Cornelius generously gives me half the money he gets from his peppermint mine. It's not just the cost of the gifts, the elves are well taken care of with good health care, paid vacations, and safe friendly working conditions. The waiting list is quite long to become an elf because it really is a joy to work for me.

Thanks Santa for taking some time to answer my questions. Any advice you would like to give?

Santa: Be sure to leave out some carrots for the reindeer, you better not pout, you better not cry, and clean your chimney because I'm coming to town.

Across the Miles

A Christmas spent so far apart,
Can still be touching heart to heart.
Though distance great seems misery,
Soft words of comfort hearten me.

Just knowing that there is that one,
Who truly cares, all said and done,
Enough to ring the telephone,
That let's me know I'm not alone.

With friends and family far away,
I'll not be lonely Christmas Day,
For I will know that love has found,
The way to reach the world around.

All precious gifts aren't tied with bows,
The best ones are where true love shows.

Thanksgiving madness

Pop in the Ham
and sweeten the yams

Brown the turkey
and add a sprig of parsley to make it look perky!

How much cornbread stuffing should I make?
and how many more pies do I need to bake?

Hurry and make the tea
cause no one wants to wait on me!

hurry hurry I am in a rush!
and I hope this stuff don't taste like mush!
