My guess is they didn't think too much of your being an adult. Brothers and sisters hold up the age thing in your face forever! No one will ever be able to live up to their expectations. Is it fair? No!
And just to show you of my sibling problem. My siblings were that way! But by the time I was 17 I left home and just ignored their asinine ways.
So, my friend Bung, just feel good about yourself and don't try to figure your family out because they must have not thought too much of you as an adult to keep you informed. It was completely irresponsible of them but they will forever think they're right! Forgive them and move on.
I have always wondered about the meaning of art. I can understand portraits, painting and drawings of familiar things but never art like this.
Way back in the 60's, or thereabouts, in the Watts community in Los Angeles an artist created the "Watts Tower". It stood there for many years but I believe it is razed now. It was pieces of metal welded together but I could never figure it out. The important thing it meant something to someone.
I too have a German background. During the years that Germany wanted to claim Mexico a German soldier and my Indian Great Grandmother had a little love affair and this produced my sweet Grandmother.

What amazes me about music is that there are a limited amount of notes. But a writer can make a new song and it will be different from all the thousands songs written and recorded.

Here's mine. I agree with you. I honor the military and what it does for me to keep me free. Even though I am not in favor of using force sometimes it is just what we need to do.
I pray for our military quite often because of stories like this and the protection they give us!
I was wondering why you were speaking Spanish and combining it with Olympics when they were already over! Then it suddenly dawned on me that you meant Paralympics. The competition for paraplegics. "Para" in Spanish means "for". HEE HEE I got a chuckle out of that one.
