laughing merrily as I feed your fingers into a meat grinder laugh

love you too, babe, bigly. And yay, minced fingers for supper yay

Just kidding Non cool

Therefore I am

Hey Art, wave love you both to bits group hug

And you raise a whole new point, what others think of the ones you love, we all want someone who we think is the best to be seen as the best by everyone. We've all introduced friends to our other friends, or our chosen one to friends / family, and it's annoying when they don't instantly agree that this person is the absolute goods!

laugh

Therefore I am

Cat - so Zuma is living proof of whether it matters what people think of you. If enough of them have a low opinion of him, he loses that oh-so-cushy job of official crook-in-chief.

grin

Therefore I am

Ja-well-no-fine rolling on the floor laughing

Therefore I am

Mimi, as long as you agree with him then you're both on a good thing yay

Therefore I am

Cat, I didn't know that. Wow.

Zuma stepping down? That WOULD be wow! cheering

RE: I Found The Perfect Partner For You

It is possible these fictional characters are totally self-obsessed and unlikely to read anything not written by them, or directed by name at them.

And that the shoe fits more than a few fictional characters.

After all, Cat, anyone likely to read this is unlikely to be the person or persons you invented.

Therefore I am

Just between thee and me, I'm also fascinated to see how far people actually read this long blog. Hoping they will comment at the point where they stopped reading, since there are several complete changes in direction and it would be trackable laugh

Shhhhh don't say anything. We're safe, people rarely read comments, so many blogs, so little time wink

Breakfast

Mic, thank you, that clears that up nicely, and biscuits with gravy sounds very similar in origin and taste to pap en sous. Now I have to try them!

Oooh Kal looks FAB

Mimi, ok, I looked it up. Wonton noodles is a Cantonese noodle dish which is popular in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The dish is usually served in a hot broth, garnished with leafy vegetables, and wonton dumplings. Correct?

Viking, you remind me, I've probably lost coffee buns for the rest of my life, I only ever saw them in Scotland. They aren't a breakfast thing, but were often the first thing I ate in the day, at about 11, with coffee. Not very sweet, seriously YUM.

Molly, all I can say is I'm glad I didn't give up sleeping until 9 to rush over the Ireland for scrambled eggs on toast which I can have right here snooty from hens next door, too, I just need to nip quietly over the wall and help myself. No carbon footprint for me. Well, no footprints at all, if possible uh oh

Diova, oh aye, I can imagine him getting very testy indeed giggle

Hi Jenny, welcome back, find things very different? I've found a blog complaining about the blogs now and the people now and nothing as good as in the old days, and then I noticed it was written in 2012 ... laugh

RE: I CAN'T LAUGH RIGHT NOW I AM TO BUSY FUSSING

I have a (childless) friend who dreads being shown new babies. Her attitude is, what would you say if someone proudly presented an adult with crossed unfocused eyes, flushed cheeks, drool running out their mouth and a strong suspect smell wafting from the nappy region, and asked for compliments?

She does try but has before now had to go with 'oh, what a lovely - um - lovely - er - pair of bootees!'

RE: "Love" at first sight....

But what if you were lovers in a previous life and it isn't so much love at first sight as 'oh THERE you are'?

okay, calm down, I'm kidding

However inexplicable it is possible to have a kind of instant recognition and although I've never experienced love at first sight (sounds like a huge timesaver, though) I HAVE had an instant strong reaction to a couple of people over the years.

One was a new boss, charming, friendly, and I thought uh oh this one's trouble - and she was, but everyone else in the team was charmed, at least at first.

One was back in my teens, meeting the girl who has been my BFF ever since. I didn't even immediately like her, but I, well, recognized her. Puzzled me for a bit, then I dismissed it, only remembered that first reaction reading this blog.

And I looked at a photo once of someone I was unlikely ever to meet and had that same recognition - 'you are going to change my life'. Didn't know then, don't know now, whether for better or worse, but yup, it was true.

So I'm not sure I'd recognize the emotion as love but it would be fascinating if it happened daydream

Breakfast

Have to go paint the bathroom. And I think I have to eat too. My stomach growls are now making the dog glance round suspiciously.

Later wave

Breakfast

But a soft-boiled egg with soldiers (buttered slices of toast dunked in the egg, everyone knows that, right?) has a noble honourable place on the breakfast menu

Breakfast

What is Balut? do I want to know? (suspecting from Molly's response, not)

Breakfast

Molly, I bought some baby rusks thinking oh well, when in UK - ewwwwwwwwwwwwww disgusting they turn to slime on contact with spit! barf

SA rusks are not completely unlike melba toast but much bigger and slightly sweeter. They can be dunked or eaten on their own, and they are crunchy to the last crumb.

Breakfast

Jenny, pretty much the full English then, and it is still my favourite, and a meal I can eat any time. Pancakes is one of those words that means different things in different cultures, even in England and Scotland there is a difference, what one calls a pancake the other calls a crumpet and their pancakes are different ...

I'm assuming you mean the one up to a half inch thick and up to six inches across, but you could mean the super-thin ones dusted with cinnamon sugar and lemon then rolled up to serve or -

I'm so hungry now I could eat my own foot.

Diova, Greek yoghurt? supposed to be the healthiest and best, so maximum value if you don't eat much. And HI long time no see! reunion

Eks, Ouma buttermilk rusks. smitten I used to be able to buy them at a Saffer shop in Edinburgh, now I guess I will have to order online - or since I have now got a cooker, and it will be connected any day now, bake my own? For most people rusks are for teething babies and they can't get their heads round adults having a grownup version which tastes like heaven. Great reminder. That is definitely going on my breakfast list. Bring a bit of culture to Spain grin

Breakfast

Lou, oh help now I'm STARVING. Love both of those daydream The bagels here are enormous, can feed two people with ease, although right now I could probably finish one on my own.

Dee, poached egg and avocado isn't a combination I ever tried but since you recommend it ... avo season is just ending here, perfect timing. I wouldn't have combined avo with cheese either until I found a restaurant which did sliced avo piled high on toast, covered in a sort of Welsh rarebit cheese sauce, and grilled. It was one of the best lunch options ever. I've tried it at home several times, never got it exactly right.

Mimi, wonton noodle with what, or is it an aphrodisiac all on its own? wow details or recipe please, lovely, especially as this is YOUR fusion breakfast we're planning here!

Mic, you get the blog award for the Denver omelet recipe yay but listen, to the rest of us, biscuits are thin hard sweet things, or thin hard bricks with healthy ingredients, and I never got to try American biscuits, which I know aren't. (The gravy is the clue). Please explain? (another recipe would be ACE)

Breakfast

AWESOME comments but - big but - some of you guys assume we know what you're talking about. It's a bit like signposting in Spain, the locals know where the place is so who needs a signpost at a crucial junction?

Kal, YAY, 69th comment, you win breakfast on the upstairs patio. But first you have to explain what chicken porridge is, otherwise you'll get paella which is rice-based with seasonal veg, chicken, prawns ... not usually a breakfast dish, I think, but I'm new here, don't ever assume I know what I'm talking about laugh

Pat, this is sort of the 'dream breakfast' blog - cereals and milk, which my dad used to have with sliced banana, is sort of a reality breakfast, isn't it? I don't rush to the cornflakes bar at a buffet breakfast, you'll more likely find me hovering hopefully next to the hibachi waiting for grilled delicacies daydream

Karl, hi! wave and some brilliant suggestions, breakfast burritos? details please?

RE: How To Read Female Profiles

Yeah, I have to agree with your list, has anyone added Romantic to your list?

Romantic - will say sulkily 'you don't act like you LOVE me' at regular intervals, then go into terminal sulks if you don't drop everything to reassure

Male profiles are pure fiction, I don't think there's any correlation at all between a man's profile and reality. Noticed one recently where he said his hair was brown. There were 4 photos. Grey is obviously the new brown.

RE: Aging Gracefully

Not sure anyone wants to be entirely alone - but you can be loneliest in a crowd if you don't care for the company. Easy to stop reaching out when Every Single Person In The Verdamste World is only interested in Game of Thrones, or something similar that doesn't interest you, but getting into the habit of being alone is hard to reverse. Even something virtual like CS or Facebook keeps the door open a crack.

JMO

Breakfast

I'm so used to having to go to bed at midnight that I'm getting sleepy yawn

Alarm clock be switched OFF yay

To sleep - perchance to dream ... better walk the dog so she doesn't wake me early, come to think of it, she's used to early starts too now

wave

Breakfast

That sounds a meal you could eat at any time of day, Annlee? So I could try it when my tastebuds have woken up and are ready to tackle garlic. It does sound good, thanks thumbs up

Breakfast

Crazy, wow, awesome, except that at 4 am I don't think I could actually chew, I'm not a morning person, pure zombie until about 9. That Pandesal does sound heaven.

For me, both your and Annlee's big breakfast falls down on the garlic, I love it but only later in the day. Much later in the day.

Arabic breakfast sounds good, only item I don't know is kubus

And french toast is my favourite cheer-up quick meal. With lots of sugar. daydream

Breakfast

Stop it you lot or I will have to go to the other end of the house (in the dark, across the rubble, it's an absolute obstacle course) to retrieve the profiteroles I keep for emergencies.

Stopitstopitstopitstop no more chocolate talk this is BREAKFAST

Breakfast

Molly rolling on the floor laughing

Breakfast

Pat, I have glue and solvents all round the place, may try that. Up to now I have relied on coffee and cigs, I'm so boring.

Breakfast

Cach rolling on the floor laughing snap ...

Breakfast

I know, I'm suddenly peckish too.

Which is a bad thing, since there is half a Roscon de Reyes cake sitting in my fridge and I've been hearing its little angle voice all evening, eeeaaat meeeeee, eeeaat meeee, I'm choux pastry with cream and candied fruit .....

sigh

Breakfast

Annlee, I think you just got Molly's attention with that breakfast laugh

It sounds VERY exotic and different, thanks!

Breakfast

Cach, does sound good

The Spanish do tend towards choux pastry, I heartily approve of that too laugh
