RE: How do Maltese people feel about this?

I'm rather curios as to how the non-English Maltese view the legal/ illegal immigrant issue, as a point of proper perspective, since all here are not Maltese by birth nor heritage....
I would thing that "special dispensations" about accepting any immigrants would / or should apply to Malta because of size, population, living space vs agricultural land productivity. The EU does have some rather interesting loop-holes that may be germane to this growing threat. Well at least there are two countries in Europe that immigration in closed. Applications, if even considered are on a one-to-one basis and is subject ,without appeal, by the head of State, totally approved of by the country's total population. Perhaps the EU should follow their lead.
Also, just being again, very curious just why did the Brits keep the Knights of Malta from returning to what is rightfully their country? If they were indeed, back, do you thing immigrants would be an issue or Maltese women confronted by rowdy immigrants. legal or illegal..?
No offence meant , if any is taken. Just asking...%)

RE: illegal immigrants

Idi Amin was always very clear on things, domestic or foreign. Whenever any boatloads of people came across Lake Vic, be they from Tanzania or Kenya, or from across the border of Zaire, up by Lake Albert, they were met by his gun-boats and raked over with Mag fire ; he had no need or tolerance for any immigrants, especially illegals. It was about the only thing he did that nearly everyone approved of. No paperwork either making reports. Everyone hated paperwork.

RE: stop global warming .seek members.

You and me both; the more that I notice what information is missing, the more worrisome it becomes...in this so called "age of information" I fear silence...
(Perhaps what is missing has all been "Classified" ; seems that anything...everything can be hidden away by being/ becoming "Classified"...makes me wonder if an entire country could one day become "Classified"...%D ! {=D !

RE: stop global warming .seek members.

Your "gut instinct" just may be correct; some-thing is wrong; it could, of course be any number of thing's. so far I haven't found anyone who really knows anything about the magnetic storms from the sun and their effects on our global weather. let alone just how badly how our atmosphere is being bombarded by charged particles from the sun's surface(aka solar winds, created by "sun spots") as our planet rotates around the sun. Many of the ancient civilizations kept astronomical histories on the Sun and our weather; the Mayan had one of the most detailed as to their effects on their culture noting the changes from behavior to crop failures, much of which has been translated especially be the author Maurice Cotterell, whose many woks on their astronomical observations now sit in the British Museum archives gathering dust.
The sun's magnetic field has been show to reverse five times every 18,139 years. As the field swings from one direction to another it tends to twist the Earth's crust around its axis. The event is recorded in the reversed magnetic field contained in surface rocks. Destructive influences hence act upon the Earth 5 times every 18,139 year cycle. In a worst case scenario the entire planet may shift, resulting in cataclysmic destruction. magnetically recorded in the surface rocks. Combine this with the theory of Charles Hapgood that the Earth's crust is free to wander and that this has resulted in actual shifting including the polar regions. Such movements are enabled by a special "wave guide layer" of "lubricating" rock within the asthenosphere that facilitates movement.
When the sun's magnetic field changes the Earth's magnetic field changes. At such times the magnetosphere(the Earth's protective cover) diminishes and more harmful radiations are able to enter the Earth's atmosphere...genetic mutations and higher mortality rate, especially for infants.
Sun-spot minimums bring cooler temperatures to Earth which result in mini ice ages. This results in less evaporation of water from the oceans and leads to severe droughts. Areas of marginal rainfall suffer disproportionately leading to crop failures, leading to famine. High sun-spot activity leads to the higher and lower temperatures, droughts, and heavy rains all over our planet; may and much of the chronic weather conditions of the last several decades ever increasing...yet never a word of this aspect on "global warming".
Something is drastically wrong here that so much is being left totally ignored...I think..

RE: stop global warming .seek members.

Very interesting comment regarding the weather; and also quite coincidental, as I have been searching for the last few days on the US Defence Dept. about their R&D on using weather/storms as a weapon to be targeted against various countries/ areas around the world. This all started to get rather serious back in the 70's. After several articles in newspapers and science mags, nothing...zero. It has become a pattern over the years that when much lauded research and development programs for the military suddenly disappear from the public eye that those projects have become "Classified" and go into the "black budget ops" of the Pentagon.
As I'm hitting blank walls in trying to find all this once existent material, I am beginning to suspect that perhaps it has been developed after all and is now being tried out, especially in the Pacific Asian area...perhaps you are right and it is no accident...as the tests years ago hit the wrong areas...makes you think. Perhaps others could have better luck in finding out about this project...

So you did, after all, tell someone that you loved them and they said,"Cool, I love you too!" And now all things are bright and beautiful and you are ecstatic, deliriously happy and wish everyone could feel the same. Way to go! %D I'm sure we all love you too!! %D

RE: Decline of the church

Not a bad analogy at all; a personal visit is far better in any case.
I have always regarded the old, our ancient churches and cathedrals as a sanctuary from a world gone totally mad, a world teetering on the bring of catastrophe. Even a an old way-side shrine along some mountain road.
I cold and have just sat for hours soaking in the ambiance of what I feel is God's presence in His Home of many Houses. I've tried some of the "modern" structures and feel nothing,; I sense only emptiness, totally devoid of any connection with His spirit. To me, they are stale and sterile of God's Presence.
For me, the priests aren't an issue; they are human beings and thus are prone to any and all of the usual vices the rest of are; their lack of true commitment and dedication has only increased ten-fold in a mostly secular world governed by totally unrestrained behavior and morals. I do find it ironic that they do now, truly reflect our societies more , which is exactly what the critics of the Church has always wanted...and now they complain that many of the priests are in fact only too human...another endless circle of futility.
Just what is "spirituality"??? Given the endless enlarging of parameters as to what it entails, our ancient ancestors, pagans though they were, were certainly "spiritual", so were the Carthaginians who threw their newly born into the sacrificial ovens of Baal...Jehovah ,El etc. For them it was a positive experience; would we be so tolerant of that today...Perhaps this strangely vague term would be close to the ideas of Father Pierre Teilhard de Chardin in one of his books such as The Phenomenon of Man or The Divine Milieu, perhaps in Man's Place In Nature...or the "spiritual" writings of St. Bernard de Clairvaux, the Church's greatest "mystic" or wold it be closer to what author Fritjof Capra in his book The Web of Life or his other books ...but not many people read such "heavy" tomes about such "serious" matters... people also don't like to think much on these matters either, but then again, they already are "enlightened"; they don't need learned priests to show, teach and guide them closer to not only God's Spirit but to God...we read only the latest magazines and ads that tell us, instruct us; order us(!) in what to think, how to think and when to think, otherwise, this church of secularism lets us all run and play; it's all the usual boring "bread and circus" routine.
It is also very ironic that in these times of growing "spirituality" that the numbers of people going to the old fashioned "retreats" are increasing for the monasteries and nunneries...of and for people seeking guidance and recuperation from the very secular world that many proclaim to be Salvation and the next best thing to "Godliness" itself. I just wonder what god; which one...can't be that useless old Christian one whose churches are run by senile old semi p*dophile, according to the secular press outlets...can't be.

RE: Would you get married in a dollar store???

Do they hand out cheap sweat-shirts made in China with "Lifestyles of the Poor and Unknown" written on them afterwards...with a map of the Las Vegas Divorce Chapels locations where for 2 silver dollars, you fill out some forms put them in a slot, pull the lever and Presto! you get your divorce...

Lovely.....the masses only get what they deserve. Question one I thought the woman should be sterilized so as to not any more...question 2 personally, I despise voting, though candidate 3(adolf baby, I would have liked to "see" the wife and what type of person she would have been...ol' adolf was never married until his last day of life. Vegetarians are a bit on the "weird" side, or so I have found them..the other 2, no way even if I were inclined to even consider voting. In retrospect all 3 were disgusting specimens of Humanity and as usual the people are the losers no matter what. %(

RE: Ooops! Didn't Expect That

Many people on many other sites have found this rating, offensive, repulsive and juvenile. Many that have had this "rating" have become notorious for becoming a playground in which to insult and offend many members simply because of their appearances/ looks. Many withdrew. Many do, however, thrive on their vanity and love it.
I , personally find it disgusting and have given my opinion the CS. I am in full sympathy with those who have and will...find this so called "amusement" to be offensive and very immature. Many will have their feelings hurt quite unnecessarily simply because of their looks. I do not find that "amusing". Many will delete their photos and or profiles as has happened on many other sites. I refuse to take part in this "amusement"

RE: The Great Flood and other Questions

Just go to the one original source of what you call the Bible, wherein you will find answers to virtually all you ask about, almost verse for verse, word for word but intact in it's original lengths; the ancient Sumerian Creation epic and the Enuma elish; it is also the only known "mother tongue" of all our languages over time, even evolving into the foundations of the Oriental languages. These works are it is estimated , are thousands of years older that the "books" of what is called the Bible. Expand your knowledge.
The Bible is a shortened collection of badly translated Babylonian and hence Sumerian that all ancient peoples of the near east spoke and "wrote in" using the cuneiform tablets.
