German parents post baby on eBay for 1 euro Authorities take custody of a 7-month-old boy; mom says ad was joke
updated 9:43 a.m. ET, Sat., May. 24, 2008 BERLIN, Germany - Authorities in southern Germany have taken custody of a 7-month-old boy after his parents posted an ad on eBay offering to sell him for one euro, or about $1.60.
Police spokesman Peter Hieber says the baby was placed in the care of youth services in the southwestern Allgaeu region.
Hieber said on Saturday that the mother told police the Internet ad was only a joke. Authorities have begun an investigation into possible child trafficking against the parents.
No offers were made for the child in the two hours and 30 minutes the ad was posted. The Internet auction site deleted the posting later.
I've known people, teens mostly who put all of their personal info in the details section of ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo messengers. After talking to them about it, they remove everything but first name.
Some are quite surprised when I come up with a street address if it's not included in their details. All that's needed is full name, town and state.
Myself, if someone got all my info and came looking me up with mischief in mind will be greeted quite warmly with a 16ga
I have most of these in my Hubby Earl...only still working on the good job part, course the economy is reeking havoc in that area for the time being..but I expect that to change very soon..the temp jobs that he's had have excellent recommendations for this work, just seems no one's hiring permanent workers when they can make do with temps.
Pilots run out of fuel, pray, land near Jesus sign Men able to glide powerless microlight to a safe landing on grassy strip
updated 8:26 p.m. ET, Wed., May. 21, 2008 WELLINGTON, New Zealand - It seemed like an almost literal answer to their prayers. When two New Zealand pilots ran out of fuel in a microlight airplane they offered prayers and were able to make an emergency landing in a field — coming to rest right next to a sign reading, "Jesus is Lord."
Grant Stubbs and Owen Wilson, both from the town of Blenheim on the country's South Island, were flying up the sloping valley of Pelorus Sound when the engine spluttered, coughed and died.
"My friend and I are both Christians so our immediate reaction in a life-threatening situation was to ask for God's help," Stubbs told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
He said he prayed during the ill-fated flight Sunday that the tiny craft would get over the top of a ridge and that they would find a landing site that was not too steep — or in the nearby sea.
Wilson said that the pair would have been in deep trouble if the fuel had run out five minutes earlier.
"If it had to run out, that was the place to be," he said. "There was an instantaneous answer to prayer as we crossed the ridge and there was an airfield — I didn't know it existed till then."
After Wilson glided the powerless craft to a landing on the grassy strip, the pair noticed they were beside a 20-foot-tall sign that read, "Jesus is Lord — The Bible."
"When we saw that, we started laughing," Stubbs said.
Nearby residents provided them with gas to fly the home-built plane back to base.
Oh well, 10 months too late now..that's okay...he didn't read the small print at the bottom of the wedding contract ....course he's had a few surprises for me too
Myself, no health insurance company will touch me due to my history of heart disease. The only way I can get health insurance is by getting hired as an employee somewhere.
At the moment I have health insurance thru Shelia's work health plan which costs $500 a month. Insurance for her is free as she is a state employee.
God's children may have moments of feeling lonely, but we are truly never alone for He walks with us every step we take. I am so grateful for my relationship with God and His Trinity My favorite verse is Romans 8:28, for I do truly believe that for His children "all things do truly work together for our good" in His perfect timing and will
I've been attacted to a reasonable amount of gents throughout my life, but my heart would have only chosen to have been intimate with only three. And no I've not been intimate with all those three. Intimacy is of Great Value to me and I treat it with much respect and honor. Doesn't make me a saint or anything like that, just makes me .....me
I believe we can all respect each other's opinion on this sensitive subject

Father jailed after daughter fails to get diploma Sentenced for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor
updated 11:11 a.m. ET, Tues., May. 13, 2008 CINCINNATI - A man ordered by a judge to make sure his daughter studied has found himself in jail because she failed to earn a high school equivalency diploma.
Brian Gegner, who lives near Cincinnati, was sentenced last week to 180 days in jail for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor.
He was ordered months ago to make sure his 18-year-old daughter Brittany Gegner, who has a history of truancy, received the diploma known as GED — something that hasn't happened yet.
Brittany Gegner, who said Monday that she plans to take a required GED test this month, said her father shouldn't be blamed for her failure because she has been living with her mother.
"It was my wrongdoing, not his," said Brittany Gegner, whose fiance and 18-month-old daughter also live at her mother's home. "He shouldn't have to go to jail for something I did."
Her mother agrees.
"Brittany is almost 19 years old now and I think it's unfair to put her father in jail," said Shana Roach. "She's an adult now, and it's not right to rip an innocent man from his home."
Juvenile Court administrator Rob Clevenger Jr. said Monday that the court still has jurisdiction in the case because Brittany Gegner was a juvenile when the truancy problems began and when the charge against Brian Gegner was filed in 2007.
A hearing on a motion filed by Brian Gegner's attorney to reconsider the sentence is scheduled for Friday. Messages seeking comment were not returned Monday at the offices of defense attorney Tamara Sack and the prosecutor.
Brian Gegner's wife, Stephanie Gegner, said she and her husband are afraid he will lose his job if he remains in jail. She said they tried to keep his daughter in school.
"You'd take her to school and she'd go out the other door," Stephanie Gegner said.
