Joanie, I agree with you, the State Forums never really took off like the moderators had hoped or so it seems.
For Earl & I that's great cause had the state forums come out before he and I met, I would have never met him, for I would have only dated guys in my state cause I know first hand what a tough time it is for someone to move so far away from their original home and I would have never intentionally gotten myself in a relationship with someone so far away.
But I'm Blessed beyond with my Baby Earl.
Good to see you using your lovely name as your CS name.
Just getting back from the grocery store and saw your apology
Gilly, Thank You for the apology, but it wasn't necessary, just for you to understand my opinion about gun ownership.
I agree with you that guns are misused and that many innocent people have died simply by the fact of a gun being in a house and not responsibly maintained by its owner, hence when a young child gets a hold of a firemarm and another sibling or family member are accidently killed.
My personal conviction on firearm ownership would be for all firearms to be registered and in order for a person of an adult age to own one would be for the person to be required to attend a safety training course of at least a week and prove they know how to safely operate the firearm. Then making that person (s) responsible for the use of that firearm; anotherwords, responsible to make sure the firearm is not easily accessable for anyone especially curious children and teenagers, who might think violence solves problems. I mean isn't that what our TV programs and society is teaching our youth of today.
Gilly I'm not on CS enough to be aware that you've had a couple of threads banned, and I would never want this one banned either because I believe you just wanted to know what everyone was thinking about Mr. Heston's passing and how it might affect the National Rifle Association since he was a big supporter for bearing Firearms.
Have a Wonderful Sunday and there's no hard feelings on my end Peaches
PS..the only concern I have about all the responsible firearm owners registering their firearms is that our government might one day in one of their crazy notions try to call up all the firearms and destroy them. Many firearm owners have firearms that have been handed down through many years from family member to family member and it would be a shame to see someone who could care less about the firearm destroy it just for the sake of a notion and not because of any valid reason. It is more than a firearm, it is a family heirloom.
Oh boy, what a load of crap. That comment shows what you don't know.
I own quite a few rifles, shotguns and handguns. Just because I have them don't mean I'll "kill anybody that comes near doorstep". I will guarantee that if I woke up during the night and find someone in my home with the intention of robbery or such will not be walking when they leave.
When I lived in the small town of Barrington NH, I didn't have to worry too much about burglars and such. Here in the city of Concord NC, I see news stories about homes being broken into, people being killed that make me worry about myself and my wife Shelia. I will do whatever it takes to protect myself, my family and my property. If I were to wait for law enforcement to do their job like some say should be done, the possibility of us being harmed is there.
Like Shelia said, "Guns are "not" the problem, nor ever will be" Gun control does not work. There should be stiffer penalties put in place for those who use handguns in a crime.
Another twist to a debate is when a debate leads to a love affair
I have always enjoyed a gentleman who would challenge, not degrade, but challenge my way of thinking just to provoke some interesting conversation between us.
I believe a good ole fashioned debate is good for the soul and obviously it builds new friendships and love affairs. I wasn't on CS earlier today so I don't know of this debate between you two ladies, but I'm glad you both enjoyed the chance to voice your opinions and become friends... with each of your own self respects left in tact.
Our differences sometime act like magnets to bring us together
America is very wasteful...it is so sad, but Yes, as a whole Americans are very wasteful because we take most of our blessings for granite
Healthy Living, Thanks for the Info, I'm sharing this list with all my friends and family and strangers alike. Let's bite those greedy gas monopolizing jokers in the tail Hit them right in their wallet pockets
<....quietly tiptoeing away, don't do hot tubs..watched too much tv about the risks , but may someday purchase one for my own home use with a new beau, that is cause Earl's dying for his "Wise Quotes" thread and won't be around to share the hot tub with me
Just saw on the News that many, manys of thousands of Beijing residents living in shanty homes near where the Olympic games will be played, are losing their homes, and literally being put out on the street as Beijing cleans up to portray a better image for the Olympic games
How tragic to lose your home, or the place you called home just to change the image of where you're living for the media, etc
The news said nothing is being done to relocate these poor people, just that they're being robbed of their homes. How Tragic
I believe it would be difficult for me to watch the Olympic games knowing the sacrifice many people suffered and that they are homeless just for this event for the world's enjoyment
Anonymous surveys show that people are reluctant to do mouth-to-mouth, partly because of fear of infections.
When people are honest, they’re not going to do it. It’s not only the yuck factor.
Myself personally, I recieved emt training while in the USCG. Back then (20 some-odd years ago), there was no real thought about catching something from someone. Now tho, it's a different story and I would think twice if it came down to giving a perfect stranger mouth to mouth
In a major change, the American Heart Association said Monday that hands-only CPR — rapid, deep presses on the victim’s chest until help arrives — works just as well as standard CPR for sudden cardiac arrest in adults.
Experts hope bystanders will now be more willing to jump in and help if they see someone suddenly collapse. Hands-only CPR is simpler and easier to remember and removes a big barrier for people skittish about the mouth-to-mouth breathing.
Hands-only CPR calls for uninterrupted chest presses — 100 a minute — until paramedics take over or an automated external defibrillator is available to restore a normal heart rhythm.
This action should be taken only for adults who unexpectedly collapse, stop breathing and are unresponsive. The odds are that the person is having cardiac arrest — the heart suddenly stops — which can occur after a heart attack or be caused by other heart problems. In such a case, the victim still has ample air in the lungs and blood and compressions keep blood flowing to the brain, heart and other organs.
A child who collapses is more likely to primarily have breathing problems — and in that case, mouth-to-mouth breathing should be used. That also applies to adults who suffer lack of oxygen from a near-drowning, drug overdose, or carbon monoxide poisoning. In these cases, people need mouth-to-mouth to get air into their lungs and bloodstream.
These verses were part of our wedding ceremony and Earl's Mom found a grapevine heart with this verses/words inscribed in the center of it. I treasure this heart very much If all relationships; especially marriage could live by these verses, divorce would be almost non-existent
Just finished reading "The Elves OF Cintra", the second book in the "Genesis Of Shannara" series by Terry Brooks. Have read read most of his Shannara books
Very manly , but doesn't have to act like a jerk to prove his manhood Most of the men I've met have to act like arses to prove they're tough, Earl just gives that beady eye stare over the top of his glasses when he thinks I've flipped my lid, but he's never raised his voice at me, so far
I went to the store the other day. I was only in there for about five minutes, and when I came out there was a motorcycle cop writing a parking ticket. So I went up to him and said, 'Come on buddy, how about giving a guy a break?'
He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. So I called him a stupid idiot. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having bald tires!
Then I really got angry at him. He finished the second ticket and put it on the car with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket!
This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. (I didn't care. My car was parked around the corner!)[/quote
