RE: Miss Streep- lose some weight ....learn how to act......stay out of politics

Wow!

Conrad's finally getting called on his reasoning fallacies, by somebody else too!

RE: More gun control in the USA

When we're young, we think we're invincible.
We measure our strength by what we can control and conquer.

When we get old, we measure our strength by what we can release.

Why wait till we get old, to think about the day we'll die?

On that day, my Dad was sorry for everything he harmed.

On the day we die, our greatest strength is shown by how much of this life we can release.

Try to find the strength you'll want to have on the day you die.

RE: More gun control in the USA

The saddest part of my little brother's life, is... I was the closest thing to a father he had; and he just wanted to be like me, the pistol packing, knife pulling youngster who raised him... and he never got to know the man who put all that stuff down, before he killed a man.

RE: More gun control in the USA

With good time, my brother might be out of prison... by the time his newborn daughter turns 18.

RE: More gun control in the USA

My little brother went to a friend's house, the man he killed wouldn't let him leave without a fight.

RE: More gun control in the USA

My little brother is doing 25 years in California's worst prisons... for killing a man who wouldn't let him leave, with his bare hands.

If you kill somebody, your life can suddenly get way worse than if you lose a fight.

RE: More gun control in the USA

Even though I support the 2nd Amendment on all Federal lands, I don't carry a weapon at all.

I grew up carrying guns and fighting knives, and pulling them fast.

They probably saved my life more than once; but it's a miracle I never killed anybody.

Now, I just carry a Swiss Army knife, and a small pocket knife for cutting my food; because I'd rather die than kill anybody.

If my life isn't preserved by my righteousness, I don't want it.

It's not like owning a gun gives anybody eternal life; and there's no guarantee your gun won't shorten your life by 70 years...

RE: More gun control in the USA

Even though I support the 2nd Amendment in court rooms...

I don't own a gun, or want one; but that's just because shooting streetlights and road signs is sooo much fun.

A few beers, and people on the street's'd be ducking for cover, and the helicopters'd be looking for me again.

That's also why I don't drink much anymore.

RE: More gun control in the USA

I've been shot once by a drunk who also shot two of my friends, and once by robbers who hunted me in Hell's Canyon, Idaho, after I jumped out of their truck with a bullet wound in my hand.

I support the 2nd Amendment on all Federal property; to keep our politicians and judges honest.

RE: What's the best part of your life? Be honest now!

I love living far from people with 5 cats, 6 dogs, and a fishpond.
2 or 3 weeks without seeing people is peaceful to me. I lived in the wilderness for years, before a car wreck made that impossible.

I often spend my days practicing music on trumpet, harmonicas, ukuleles, bongos, guitars, spoons, and musical bones. I need another sax soon.

I have a nice collection of ancient literature (I don't like copywritten writings); but it's my animals that get me up in the morning.

I have a cat that I can wrap my arms and legs around, or use him for a pillow. I often spend extra hours in bed, listening to him purring under my head. A few others sleep around my feet.

5 of my 6 dogs are certified service animals; and I have at least one dog, and a burning joint (the only cologne I can stand) with me wherever I go.

I'm up at 4 am today, going to town for dog food; but without my animals, I'd lay in bed forever, and lose myself in books and music.

It's 4:20: do you know where your bud's at?

I moved to Hawaii 37 years ago, and found a new family.

RE: Hug a tree.

I'd like to point out that I said, Ohio's are "possibly" the oldest trees on earth.

I read that over a year ago, while studying Ohia trees.

I think they count the life of an Ohia like this... Ohio's often grow in shallow soil; and when they get big, they fall over... but that doesn't mean they die.

My yard is full of giant Ohia that got too big, and fell over; but most of the branches that become verticle when the tree falls into a horizontal position, grow into more giant 500 year old Ohias, without the 500 year old horizontal mother tree dying.

RE: Hug a tree.

Every time I hear about "Rapid Ohia Death" on the radio in Hawaii... None of the scientists talking about it, call it "Ohia wilt."

But maybe you know it more than everybody they interview on the radio.

RE: Hug a tree.

I only tried to answer the question once, the other two were accidents; but, if your tree left you, it would make sense to bring it up in every thread.

RE: Hug a tree.

Yo dude!

RE: Hug a tree.

On the serious side...

Ohia's are possibly the oldest trees on earth.

I have an acre of mostly Ohia forest; and I'm a tree hugger, who hasn't cut any of them.

I love my little piece of the forest too much to harm it.

Recently, our island has been hit by "Rapid Ohia Death."

Thousands of acres of Ohia's are dying in a matter of weeks.

The disease began south of me; and it spread north of me.

Please pray for our Ohia trees: our whole ecosystem depends on them.

Aloha aina. Malama aina.

RE: Hug a tree.

If a tree tells you it's alright if you see other trees; and it'll be waiting for you at home... It really means it!

RE: Hug a tree.

The wind rustles the red and gold autumn leaves, and sends them floating through the sky like colorful stars flying across the sun's path; but trees never break wind.

RE: Hug a tree.

A tree can stay hard, for over 400 years.

Trees'll never ask you to eat their nuts; and their nuts are never sweaty.

RE: Hug a tree.

A tree will always love yew.
