Anything is possible, Billy. You have set yourself a challenge, seems to me all you need is to find some like minded fellas and you're on your way...A great adventure in the making.
The Australian Federal government has a reciprocal arrangement with the Italian governement for health care. As tourists in Italy, we simply register with the authorities which then entitles us to free health care under the Aussie Medicare banner. I have a cousin who works in one of the hospitals in Tuscany, and she maintains that medical help is provided to all who require it, including the odd case where you cannot afford to pay.
Perhaps that would be the answer, that is, for all countries to have some kind of reciprocal arrangement with each other. In any case, as a tourist, one should take out travel insurance that includes medical treatment. It's very cheap these days. Problem solved!
Even if a French person understands English, I have found them to be highly reluctant to speak it. Very nice people though. I conducted conversations for hours on a flight from Paris to Kuala Lumper with a French lady sitting next to me. She spoke no English, and I made up the French.
I completely agree. Don't bother to waste your money. Most people haven't a clue, no matter how watered down the principles are, for the masses.
What you refer to regarding the book 'The Secret', relates to principles from quantum physics. Way too complicated for most folks here. As I said, no matter how watered down.
It's all about lifestyle. It's important to deal with whatever stressors there are in one's life. If a person who becomes a non smoker turns to eating food instead, then they should nip that in the bud and deal with the triggers constructively.
We look after our cars so much better than our own bodies!
I know you weren't, wash2u. A couple of things about hypnotherapy and stop smoking: there is no such 'course of 6 sessions' for same. It should never take longer than 2 sessions, absolute tops, 3 sessions. But that's not for this discussion....About smoking being an addiction, yes it is as we all know. But that side of smoking behaviour is dealt with once nicotine leaves the system after 3 full days of no cigarette smoking. After that, any turning to the cigarette is due to habit, that is, purely to the behavioural component, which is what the hypnotherpay session deals with right from the get go.
I'd better do some work and get to sleep! Night all...
It certainly is not bunk and with due respect, wash2u, I think it is irresponsible for anyone to make such a claim when they have no idea of what they are talking about.
Yes, it is just one tool, a potentially powerful, and may I say, a drug-free one. You make the mistake of regarding it as pure placebo, saying that it works ONLY because you think it will work. That is only part of the equation. The actual process of hypnosis is a very real one. If the person who is under hypnosis were to have an EEG reading of their brain function before and during, it would clearly show an increased alpha if not theta, brain wave pattern, the latter being the the much deeper relaxed state.
Generally for things such as stop smoking and weight management, mild to medium hypnotic state is sufficient for positive results. It only generally requires 2 sessions to stop smoking, with most people stopping after the first. The second session simply reinforces the first ot tweeks a few lingering behaviour issues. It takes nicotine only 3 days to leave the system - the other 3,999 ingredients, a bit longer! ...For weight management, self-control over eating behaviour should occur within a short time also. Of-course, it isn't a process of mumbo jumbo, instead the process requires a very precise process, combined with specific 'scripts', taliored to meet the particular client's needs/situation.
Sorry to go on about it. But it is something I do know what I'm talking about.
Like any tool, it's only as good as the person using it.
Hypnotherapy is a wonderful adjunct to use of other strategies, such as behaviour management strategies. No-one can control your mind other than yourself. A hypnotherapist is more often then not, also a psychologist, doctor or dentist. At least, they are in South Australia, though I know this is not necessarily the case elsewhere.
It is a very powerful tool, and you can easily be taught self-hypnosis as well. What this tool is about is allowing the less conscious part of your mind to become more awake and alert, so that you are more likely to act on the new positive behaviours you wish to achieve. It is not about being weak. The opposite in fact, because you are using your mind to better effect. Of-course hypnotherapy is only one tool to achieve better control over your own mind. Others are EFT, neuroprogramming and the like. Find something which you feel comfortable with and the right practitioner to go with it, and you will do well.
It is important to find out what the triggers are to your emotional eating. A really good way to do that is to start to record everything you eat and drink, whatyou were doing just before, plus what you were thinking and feeling. Do this for a whole week, so you get a baseline of data for yourself. Then have a good look at the pattern of eating.
Next you create a weekly menu based on a healthy eating plan of your choice. The CSIRO plan or even the aussie bodies website, or zoneliving site are all great. The old food pyramid has been thrown out the window and high time, too. Once you decide which plan, then set out your menu to include your 3 healthy main meals, plus healthy snacks.
Other behaviour management strategies include:
- sit down to eat not while driving/at the computer.. - eat slowly, chew each mouthful thoroughly, enjoy the flavour and texture. - If your thoughts turn to food, turn your focus and energy into doing something that is more constructive/positive for you. Have a range of activities ready for when you're at work, home, out... - if you eat or drink something that is either unhealthy or outside your planned meals/snacks, write this down, plus activity just prior, and thought/feelings before and after eating/drinking. - incorporate into your weekly plan, some form of regular exercise such as walking.
All the best. If you do try hypnotherapy, like anything, do your homework in choosing someone highly experienced and competent. With the right person, you will fly through this process and quickly gain control over your eating behaviour.
Not accusing you of ignorance, Tule. Not you of all people...it's just that you said you didn't know it was cold in Australia which made me think you might not know much detail. One thing you might know, but is still worth mentioning for others, is that even though at certain times of the year it is stifling hot in the Red CEntre, one of the huge desert regions, at night temps can reach below zero!!
So the mail man has had a nervous breakdown?? Too much mail to deliver, poor thing!! It might be a plot to force you to use a computer and send emails...ah, Mr Gates, he is too devious!!
Ah, so much people don't know about Australia. Information is as close as google though, so there is no excuse.
Aussie Land is a large continent, with huge variations in temperature, with Darwin having only 2 seasons, wet and dry, where in latter the temps drop to about 23C.
Where I live in Adelaide, winter temps can dip right down to about 2C in the middle of the night, otehrwise the coldest in the daytime might be 11C, with an average tem of about 14C. Summers can be in the high 40'sC, the other year for 2 weeks straight!!
We have magpies that do that. They get insanely protective about their young and they literally will swoop down and attack anyone within a 50m radius walking by!!...What to do?? Wear a suit of armour, or start sqawking like a seagull, then you might have half a chance!!
Sorry to hear you feel so disappointed, C. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to rely on CS to find the future love of your life. It can, however, happen when you least expect it, same as anywhere else.
Other than that, it's best to just enjoy being here for the forums. Anything else is a bonus. Still important to get out there, and away from the 'puter, and life your life to the fullest.
