It IS a good thing to hear other perspectives. I read about 25 newspapers from around the world every day just for that reason. I've listened to Olberman for about as long as I can stand him - which is actually more than Glen Beck.
I'm not too up to speed on Panama either - but I HAVE just recently heard of two US families moving there because they fear for the US and found Panama to be very stable now and with a high quality life.
August 16, 2010 5:05 P.M. By Matthew Shaffer It’s not just Harry Reid. Jeff Greene, a Democrat running for Senate from Florida, had a strongly worded response to President Obama’s remarks at the White House Ramadan dinner: “President Obama has this all wrong and I strongly oppose his support for building a mosque near Ground Zero especially since Islamic terrorists have bragged and celebrated destroying the Twin Towers.”
Greene was careful to distinguish legal right from moral rectitude: “Freedom of religion might provide the right to build the mosque in the shadow of Ground Zero, but common sense and respect for those who lost their lives and loved ones gives sensible reason to build the mosque someplace else.” He suggested that Obama could have shown better leadership by “calling on the mosque’s supporters to find a more appropriate location.”
Rep. Jason Altmire, a Democrat from Pennsylvania’s 4th district, echoed Greene. In an interview on KDKA radio he emphasized that “there should be some discussion about what is right morally, as well as just what you’re allowed to do.” He added, “I think that the people who are supportive of putting the mosque there are missing the point of the impact and the devastation that [Sept. 11] had to us as a country.”
Altmire, Greene, Harry Reid, and the majority of registered Democrats (54 percent in last week’s CNN poll) agree with what conservatives have been saying for weeks: The Cordoba Initiative has the right to build the mosque, but that does not make it right to do so.
Lead Democrats Speak Out Against Obama Tax Hikes From Jeremy Weltmer on Thursday, July 22, 2010 2:49 PM
Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, asserted that Democrats should cancel plans the largest tax hike in history at the end of the year. At this point, income tax rates are scheduled to increase for all Americans, dividend tax rates are scheduled to increase to the tax levels of general income (a move that will devastate the nation’s retirees), capital gains tax rates are set to rise, and the death tax will return at its absurd level of 55 percent (which breaks up family businesses and costs American jobs).
Conrad cited chronic unemployment and turmoil in European debt markets as reasons to remain circumspect about the tax increases. “As a general rule, you don't want to be cutting spending or raising taxes in the midst of a downturn,” Conrad said. “At the same time, we know that very soon we've got to pivot and focus on the deficit," he said. "But it probably is too soon to cut spending or raise taxes.”
In speaking out on behalf of the American taxpayer, Conrad represents the most senior Democrat to call for extension of the present tax rates as he serves as the Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and sits on the tax-writing Finance Committee. By doing so, he stands in contrast to President Barack Obama, Senator Reid, and Speaker Pelosi, all of whom have asserted their desires to extend the rates to middle class families while soaking the rich. He has been joined in doing so in the Senate by Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, who supports extending the tax rates now to preserve economic stability and recovery. Moreover, House Democrats like Rep. Michael McMahon of New York, who said that “we're not creating jobs, and raising taxes now would not be a great idea,” and Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, who said that “I think the recovery is sufficiently fragile that we ought to leave tax rates where they are,” indicate a trend of Democrats seeing the prudence of not raising taxes now

Obama and the FISA Amendments Act The worst of Barack Obama's betrayals of Democratic Party values, the FISA Amendments Act retroactively legalizes George W. Bush's warrantless wiretapping program t spy on the personal communications of millions of law-abiding American citizens... including you?
Gays Against Obama President Obama broke his promise on Don't Ask Don't Tell, and is defending the outrageous Defense of Marriage Act. It's no wonder that Gays are against the re-election of Obama in 2012.
Indeed they are - which is why more people today disapprove of Obama than approve. They gave him his chance. They WANTED the change he promised..but now they are smelling the coffee.
OK let's see... Their Sharia Laws are in direct contradiction to our own. They have an Iman who says bin Ladin was made in the USA, and that suicide bombings are a good military tactic. And then we have the Islamic extremists attack the twin towers and MURDER thousands of people...followed by the attack at Fort Hood, the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber...and on and on.
Here's what I suggest... No more Mosques anywhere in the USA until the Muslims reign in their people and the attacks stop.
Look at the uproar we're having over health care and illegal immigration. They have not even pretended to listen, even though the vast majority of Americans LOUDLY opposed their policies.
As far as I know, his trip (and previous trips) is being funded by taxpayer money. Not sure what that's all about, but it's supposed to be some sort of peace keeping mission.
I don't like Glen Beck either, but he is not strictly a journalist. He fits into the "editorial" arena. As far as reporting news, Fox isn't number one by accident.
Yep. Somewhere over the past 20 years, they have all given up their commitment to "objectivity." These days they are all spin doctors. I say this as both a former journalist AND a professional spin doctor. It's been sickening to watch them slide into the abyss...
RE: When it comes to spreading true lies and hatred among the media, who in America leads the way?
Indeed. We should call them the "Party of Crutches."
