I don't know. Romney's six point plan is far more logical than Obama's if you look at the long-term consequences. The key driving force of our society is JOBS, as they not only lift people out of poverty but also minimize the debt the government has to pay out in entitlements, AND gives us citizens who can pay into the tax system. It's a win, win, win. The government regulations (passed by both parties) are often totally absurd and are absolutely strangling American businesses. If we want jobs, we have to create simpler and better regulation.
America will be no use to Europe or anyone else unless they can get their economic act together. There's only one way to do that and we have that opportunity if we go with Romney/Ryan. Obama has been on a borrowing and spending binge which has produced NOTHING. If we don't start the reform process we will never get off this road to nowhere.
Here's a perfect example of the blantant media bias from just this week on 60 minutes. They interviewed Romney and Ryan but refused to air Ryan's response to their Medicare question.
This is the clip they edited OUT.
(Romney) "There’s only one president that I know of in history that robbed Medicare, $716 billion to pay for a new risky program of his own that we call Obamacare,” Romney said.
“What Paul Ryan and I have talked about is saving Medicare, is providing people greater choice in Medicare, making sure it’s there for current seniors. No changes, by the way, for current seniors, or those nearing retirement. But looking for young people down the road and saying, “We’re going to give you a bigger choice.” In America, the nature of this country has been giving people more freedom, more choices. That’s how we make Medicare work down the road.”
Ryan added, “My mom is a Medicare senior in Florida. Our point is we need to preserve their benefits, because government made promises to them that they’ve organized their retirements around. In order to make sure we can do that, you must reform it for those of us who are younger. And we think these reforms are good reforms. That have bipartisan origins. They started from the Clinton commission in the late ’90s.”
One interesting note here: 60 Minutes didn’t even air Ryan’s response. How is America supposed to learn about anything if the geniuses journalists fair reporters people involved with the mainstream media completely refuse to air anything of substance?
There may be some truth in that, but there's no getting around the fact that they are decidedly and unabashedly liberal. They absolutely made Obama president before he even had a chance by not only demonizing Bush but by steadfastly refusing to vet Obama when he was a candidate.
And that's an absolute truth. So why do we keep electing them? Here we finally have a candidate with a proven track record in business and the left makes this out to be a bad thing.
I think they are very afraid that Romney will come in and start fixing things and it will be end of their liberal mythology.
I blame the mainstream media more than any other factor in this misinformation campaign. They are the "gatekeepers" of all the information which trickles out to our society and they have done a miserable job of doing so in an objective manner. For example, instead of telling Americans the factual news such as that "General Motors' stock has fallen 39 percent since its initial public offering in November 2010. And that on Friday, the Treasury Department announced that expected losses to taxpayers from the bailout would increase more than $3.3 billion to $25.1 billion -- up from $21.7 billion last quarter," they choose to offer smug Obama soundbites about how he saved the auto industry.
The job they do overseas in spreading misinformation is even more alarming. Thank goodness we at least have the internet where we can pick up snippets of truth here and there.
I think this is one time the liberal media isn't going to get it's way. For years they have believed American's were just too stupid to doubt their stories, and they got lazy. But now, thanks to the internet, they are fast losing their credibility.
Take a look at Dude's poll on Obama/Biden vs. Romney/Ryan...
What I don't understand is why there was a big article just this week about how Social Security just officially cut the benefits for future retirees where - for the first time in history - they will receive LESS THAN THEY PAID IN OVER THE COURSE OF THEIR LIFETIME.
This happened this week - UNDER PRESIDENT OBAMA.
Where is the outrage?
Obama's campaign team is out there spreading all sorts of PROVEN lies about Romney and Ryan, and all the while the very things they are claiming are happening under his watch!
Talk about the proverbial fox in the hen house!
If this is the best our government can manage, then perhaps we are better off privatizing things. At least business professionals know how to manage money and the government can demand they maintain certain standards (which they, themselves, are unable to to)
We have a lot of raw country here in the US. Remote areas with few police. Moreover, guns are necessary to protect livestock from predators. If you live in the country, as MANY people do, you are sh## up a creek if you have to wait for a policeman to come save your life.
As for your choices... you have Obama and Biden who have not a financial cell between them (can't even pass a budget when they have full control of the house and senate)... Or Romney/Ryan who collectively have more financial acumen that most of Washington put together.
If you truly care about your country and want to see your friends back working, the choice is very clear.
We have not even BEGUN to see the unforseen consequences of Obamacare. It is utterly impossible and completely unreliable of you to say it's stood the test of time. The bulk of Obamacare has not even been written yet! Nor have we even begun to feel the pinch of the taxes that are coming our way next year to help fund it (and even then it will be under funded, which is going to cause "radical" shortages all over the map).
You want to talk about "unintended consequences?" Just wait.
House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan details what the choice of two futures means: a path to debt and decline versus a stronger, more prosperous path of less debt, lower taxes, and greater opportunity for generations to come. I would suggest anyone interested in learning the truth about the Ryan Budget visit a more credible site than the New York Times. Read for yourselves rather than being spoonfed more lies
I would be a lot more interested in what the Wall St. Journal has to say over the New York Times, since we all know the New York Times is the most radical left-wing publication known to man. Either way, we are living in extreme financial crisis...don't you think a radical plan might be in order?
Currently the top 20 percent of the population - those making $350,00 or more - are paying 94 perent of the nation's taxes. More than half the population pays NO taxes, and many of them receive entitlements such as food stamps, welfare, etc.
So let me ask you something. How long can "the government" continue to fund all this stuff when there's no money left?
The problem is that most of Obamacare has not even been written yet so nobody knows. It's the most irresponsible piece of legislation I've ever seen. Who votes on something that hasn't even been constructed yet?
At any rate, I would jump on it now before it's too late.
Yup. I noticed on my husband's EOB that Mayo was billing $16 for one Ativan tablet when I could fill the whole perscription for about $6. But by the time the insurance reimburses the hospital the entire bill is chopped down to nothing. It's a bizarre game they play and one we could improve on dramatically - BUT WITHOUT OBAMACARE which will only create MORE paperwork and regulations
Oops! What I meant to say is that I find it soooo aggravating that they went about creating this Obamacare Frankenstein the way they did.
I don't care what kind of health plan we use (national or private) as long is it works.
So WHY didn't the Obama administration look at some of the better national plans in existence and copy them? What we have is a patchwork of options that will not work alone. For example, if you want to have a good national plan, you also have to do something to lower the physician's insurance costs so they can afford to be a doctor. With national plans this is done. We didn't.
