ONLY A MAN

Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife.

A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer.

The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...??

WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home.. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right?

There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target.

I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.

Am I wrong?
Cont'd.........

Happy St. Valentine's Day

Just wanted to give a message of kindness and love to all my friends here and thank them for their support.
For those of us who have that significant other to celebrate the day with - we should be thankful and enjoy what the day brings - and remember that everyday is the day of love. For those still searching. still waiting...for most of you, that special someone will come along, please enjoy your friends and family nevertheless, for sharing the love of family and friends is nothing to be taken lightly.
For others, maybe you are meant to be alone, celebrating the day of love with the person you love more than anything, yourself. But is is what it is, it is what you make it! heart1 heart1 heart1

I had a cat named Fluffy when I was a kid....

It's either Sass or Emmi - leaning toward Sass, cause it suits me and will suit my cat grin

Her eyes are green - Jade green, but can't name her that, it is one of my youngest daughter's middle names! Maybe Em, for Emerald? - We have the unique Emerald Lake just down the road.

She is a diluted tortoiseshell, and not only is the colouring of the tortie unique, so is the personality.

I like Mineau alot.
Mist? We certainly have the mountain mist up here.

Thanks Arlene - Had my niece been a boy, her name would have been Chance - would have gone great with my boy Chayse...

Could name her Kfer (k for kitty) LOL

RE: Movie

Will try to watch it next weekend!

JMO - recent movie critiques:
The Town - Loved it
Salt - Impressed me - two eyes wide open
Stone - Considering DeNiro was in it, I expected it to be better - It was thought provoking and had alot of symbolism etc, but was somewhat a snoozer - 1 eye wide open.

We started watching the "Breaking Bad" series - Think it is quite a remarkable piece of work, from writing to acting and everything in between, just waiting for the new season to start - Check it out!

RE: For Trucker and Eyes

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land."

Nearly 75 years ago, when Welfare was introduced, Roosevelt said, "lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land."

Today, Obama has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised land!

I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc... I called a Suicide Hotline. I had to press 1 for english. I was connected to a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal. They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck....

RE: For Trucker and Eyes

RE: For Trucker and Eyes

Got the kidlet's diagnosis...or rather what they are leading toward. Simply, it is an evolvement and direct result of his pre-existing diagnosis. Bi Polar disorder with Mania and Borderline Personality Disorder.
I am addressing the court tomorrow. They are expecting me to have a plan in place, yet I do not have the completed assessment results, nor do the courts. It is turning into a nightmare, because my son needs a safe place for transition, while we are waiting. He needs stabilization and management and meds. We don't have that up here and because I told them that I don't think I can keep him safe, they are attempting to make this a section 35 - child protection issue and place him in a house called the children's receiving home where they are no more equipped than I to manage him. He is angry and out for revenge and will be housed with high-risk youth, other youth, other young offenders, those who will add fuel to his fire and take advantage of his vulnerable yet altered state of mind. No one there is trained to deal with his need.
Children's Advocate is involved, because this screams of lack of serviced for youth with Mental Illness...
Overwhelmed, I know what I want to say, just need to get down on paper and get in the right frame of mind so that I can deliver my concerns and ideas to the Judge effectively.

RE: For Trucker and Eyes

I mean I interviewed YEsterday...and was offered the job today!!! Yikes...talk about a mind-gaplaugh

RE: For Trucker and Eyes

This g-ma just has to share that literally out of the blue was asked if I would like a mu resume to be considered for an opening (I sent my resume in about 6 months ago). I interviewed tomorrow and was offered the position today. Monday to Friday - amd almost double the money...HELL YES!!!! So I will now be working in the field where my heart lies, in supported employment for people with disABILITIES!!
My kiddo is down in Burnaby in closed custody at IAU - In patient assessment unit. Before he went he had an almost complete break with reality again. Been a terrifying and frustrating journey that is no where done...heartbreaking really. Certainly not what I had in mind for my child...realizing that his life is going to be faced with many challenges/barriers etc. And the idiocy of some involved - has been very hard to take. Oh well, he is safe for now and we will take each new day as it comes (I can tell you that having your child beleive theya re a music star, they have employees and must arm themselves with play pistols and rifles, thinking they are arranging armed robberies, dealing drugs....has got to be one of the worse experiences I have had...
Anyways, the man is serenading me with Bad Company's Are you ready for Love...gotta go!
PS, Thanks for listening to my joys and sorrows - know I haven't been on for a while....life happens! Hugs K and B, T and B ...G and M....gotta have coffee sometime...Brew you gotta come up here and see the glaciers and snow!!! Trucker will say yeS ;)

got problems???

Thinking "Out of the Box"

Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant's beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant' debt if he could marry the merchant's daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. The cunning money lender suggested that they let providence decide the matter.

The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender's wife and her father's debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father's debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant's garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick her pebble from the bag.

Now, imagine you were standing in the merchant's garden. What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you have told her? Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.

2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the moneylender as a cheat.

3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and logical thinking. The girl's dilemma cannot be solved with traditional logical thinking.

Think of the consequences if she chooses the logical answers.

What would you recommend the girl do?

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

"Oh, how clumsy of me," she said. "But never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked."

Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. And since the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an extremely advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Most complex problems do have a solution, sometimes we have to think about them in a different way.
