yes and the most important part of all these languages is that their root lies in Latin, reading French, Italian, German and in part Spanish newspapers you can often decipher the headlines from specific words that obviously have a Latin root, the literal translation may differ slightly to the actual meaning today but by using common sense you can understand the whole meaning of a sentence.
Had 4x4 tonight, extra thin crust base with tomatoes, mushroom, olives, ham and of course mozzarella, washed down with a large glass of local ale, hmm then brisk walk to the Ice cream shop for a treble, lemon, strawberry and peach, swift coffee and back to the van lol
There is a lot of similarity between German and English so that would help to make learning easier, but both are very different to the romance languages such as French and Italian, these are also similar with many common words, just a variant on the pronunciation.
We are about to have a humdinger of a storm, I have had to move my van down from the mountain as the fire risk is too great for me to stay, the local police told me this afternoon. I am now in the village car park at the base of the mountains and from my window I can see the lightening behind the hills looks just like some powerful lighthouse just out of sight, seems to be sheet lightening at present and no rain yet hence the fire risk, we have not had rain for over two months now so the forests are like tinder.
Actually English is not the easiest language, our tenses are most confusing and because it is not a phonetic language the pronunciation is extremely hard for many people, for example Italians find it almost impossible to pronounce "th" correctly or words that start with a G and as for our silent “H” well don’t get me started lol
In English English the past tense would be "Dived"
I believe the "Dove" here is actually an Erroneous Americanism.
But I take your point, find it a real problem with some students, especially when the same word is pronounced differently and then has different meanings as in read and read.
I think you can fall in “Infatuation” and that given the right circumstances that becomes love after you actually meet, without realising or knowing the difference. But I also think it is all too easy to build up a picture of each other through rose tinted glasses, only to be letdown when you eventually meet. Slow and steady and don’t do anything till your staring into each other’s eyes is the way I shall go
I don’t think there can be a set formula; every case has to be different, If I met a women who had divorced because she had anger problems then 1 divorce = no way.
If however I met someone who had been married 4 times, each divorce being for different reasons then I hope I would be open minded enough to try and learn more about her and discover if she had the qualities I look for in a partner.
We all have a past, the older we are the bigger the past, at some stage we have to make the decision to take a chance or remain single for ever,
I would however be somewhat suspicious if she had had five ex’s all of whom died !!!!!
Nah, just tired and me battery is about to die on the laptop and to lazy to go out and start the genny, I did not think she meant kids but wanted to be sure, I think we all have some form of baggage, it is what happens as you gain life experience, the trick is knowing how to keep it to yourself.
What sort of racing did you do HJ, I was involved with a sprint car team from Indiana, great guy called Wally Stutzman was the driver, also did a short run in Nascar racing
I can remember some of my time as a young child in East Africa, but mainly the experience of snow the first time I saw it, at about 8 years of age, getting up and seeing it all white outside, I had no concept of snow, so ran outside in my pjs and bare feet, stopped after about 5 feet and burst out crying as my feet were so cold lol. I love when my father and Uncle talk about their war experiences, it never fails to amaze me what incredible feats of bravery were carried out by such a vast group of people. Great pic by the way
