Nostradamus Predicted…
Say what you want about Nostradamus; the man is here to stay. His book Quatrains, filled with 4 line predictions, was written in 1555 and is still in print today.Nostradamus (Michel de Nostredame) is the famous prophet from the 16th century. He is noted for having "predicted" the French Revolution, Napoleon, Adolph Hitler, the atomic bomb, the 9-11 atrocity, JFK and RFK Assassinations, and just about everything else that has happened since the time of his predictions.
Nostradamus himself wrote that his prophecies only went as far as the year 3797. Will the world will end late in the 38th century? Only time will tell.
The problem with his work is that it was written in French and in rhymes; thus very difficult to translate to other languages. Different people translate it differently.
Below, in the comment section, I have listed a few of his predictions and what happened afterwards.

He also wrote
The year 1999, the seventh month,
from the sky will come a great King of Terror:
Resuscitating the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign Happily.
And
In the City of God there will be a great thunder,
Two brothers torn apart by Chaos,
while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb,
The third big war will begin when the big city is burning.
Yes, there is no doubt that Nostradamus enjoys a large following. He is here to stay; for some time to come in any way.
Thanks for your comment!
I think what I said to Z apllies here too. Thanks for your comment.
That is a possibility we dare not overlook!
I'm glad that I could have solicited a response from you.
Yep, Idiocy is idiocy, but also none as blind as those who do not wish to see.
When you make as many predictions as he had, you have to hit the spot with some of them, but he had to do something right somewhere. He became popular long before the first English translations; amongst French speaking people! And those who can read French.
Close, but no cigar!
I looked at it a long time ago and I never made anything big out of it.
You can find the texts there in French and English and some of the events in his life:
I would say the translation is very good.Since it is in 16th century French and as you know, some meanings from that time can't be translated accurately.
In my opinion, the key comes from interpreting the verses. Locales are different, the plague was a scourge of the time and technology was limited. Nostradamus had to walk a dangerous path with religion.
He may have been the Astrologist of the Queen, but he could have ended up on the gallows if he didn't concealed some of his writings.
From there to predict the future, I don't put much credence in it.
I have watched shows and read articles on Nostradamus and his prophecies. All I can say is that it is interesting but translation is very important as the others noted.
If excessive smoking actually plays a role in the production of lung cancer, it seems to be a minor one.

If you have not yet done so, read Delatude's comment. very interesting.
Even the plague didn't kill him.
This reminds me of a story I read at the time of the plague.
In a small town, they captured 3 robbers who were going into the houses of people who died of the disease to pillage. A dangerous occupation as the plague was lethal and had no cure. It was contracted by contact with the fleas carried on rodents and domestic animals.
The Councilmen were surprised that while the inhabitants were dying of the disease, the robbers were healthy and appeared to be immune.
It was found that they rub themselves with vinegar before exercising their profession.
Needless to say, this is not the disease that killed them!
I will check it out.
No his predictions end in 3797;
Ok, then we're quits again!
Hmm, I understand that, I was not making a point. Just an observation!
Vinegar of all things!

You think it can work?
Trying so hard in trying to keep up with overseas!
You start talking to a guy at a party, stranger or aquaintance, and it is uncanny how quickly he will work his latest purchase or the location of his house into the conversation. In a pub/ladiesbar it is even worse - there they brag with what they don't even have. All millionaires in the pubs.
The only problem consists in thousands of interpretations ones can do about his famous "predictions". Any of his verses have several senses so you can interprete them how it pleases you, and your neighbour will give them another sense.. I think his books are a great hit but nobody found the Key of the whole Mistery yet
I think that is fairly accurately summarised. Pity he was not here to explain!
