Emerson, Lake and Palmer...

One of my favorite progressive-rock bands is ELP. Sadly 2 of the members are gone now.

Keith Emerson died by suicide March 11, 2016. He had several health related issues and nerve damage in his right hand that added to his depression.

Greg Lake died from cancer on December 7, 2016

All 3 members were active after the breakup of ELP and performed a few reunion concerts.

I first heard Greg Lake around 1969 when he was with King Crimson and considered him to be one of the best vocalists of his time. While everyone was wowed by Paul Rogers (of Free) it was Greg with a more colorful sound and a wider range.

This past weekend, I binged on some ELP and also listened/watched a few Keith Emerson Band videos featuring Marc Bonilla on guitars and vocals.
They performed a melodic version of the ELP hit Lucky Man and Bonilla did a great job on vocals.

Spinoff Blogs...

This week has been busy in the soap opera life of the king of socks and two-time CS loser at love. He's throwing insults (as usual) defending his manhood, posting retaliation blogs to the comments and other blogs about him. No one is spared in this event. However, I haven't time to read those other blogs right now... enjoy them as you can and let me know happens should they get deleted!

Soda that makes you cry...

More than eight months now that I've been avoiding sugar... especially drinks that are high in fructose corn syrup.
Initially, I dropped 15 pounds and 5 more but that 5 pounds wavers like the stock market. The weight gained while visiting my brother is finally gone and I'm back to pulling my pants up at least 40 times per day!

While grocery shopping I decided it was okay to try some drinks that had real sugar and ended up with some Red Rock Golden Ginger Ale. It was on sale yet terribly expensive as the little bottles are roughly 90 cents each.

This stuff is really strong and one sip goes directly to your sinuses making your eyes tear up! What I've been doing to get around that is to mix the soda with carbonated (seltzer) water... the stuff with a hint of flavor and no calories. 50/50 is the usual mix. It's enough bite to still go to my nose but the flavor is tamed.

Nairobi, Kenya...

I've always been suspicious when several new members from the same country show up on the same day. That used to happen with women in the Philippines. I learned they didn't have internet access and several would gather at the cafe, pool their money to buy online time and create a bunch of profiles in one session.

Fraud is a bigger part of dating sites with many local scammers, so one doesn't have to travel far to find a fake profile.

Tipping the scale in Connecting Singles this week happens to be an overflow of new profiles from Kenya. Nairobi being the main city listed. In a 24 hour period, I counted 37 female members from Nairobi and 13 from other cities like Mombasa. I suspect the 'energy' creating 50 of these profiles isn't coming from 50 real members. I'd wager it's only one or a small connected (scammer) group.

It's doubtful the average CS user is seeking a mate from Africa, but it casts doubt on every new profile here including the ones that pass as the 'girl next door' with no suspicious details.

Overall, I've noticed more than a few dozen of the profiles I reported that were obvious fakes haven't been deleted. It's been happening a few months now. A few are actively checking in but most are dormant. I think the trick on another site was to change/lock the password so the scammer couldn't get back in and the profile stayed in the listing. The reason for that is membership kept growing. If the moderator deleted al the bogus profiles, half the site would be gone!

Duct-taped at 30,000 feet...

It's happened again. This time on a flight from Philadelphia to Miami, 22 year old passenger Maxwell Berry (allegedly) groped 2 female flight attendants and assaulted a male flight attendant.

What's to be done? Duct tape to the rescue.
Berry faces 3 counts of misdemeanor battery.

Alcohol was involved.
Misdemeanor? I think they were easy on him.

Widows Peak...

"A Widow’s peak is a well-known English term for a V-shaped protrusion of hair at the forehead. There has been a widespread superstition recorded in Britain, Ireland and North America. It was probably at one time a common belief throughout the English-speaking world, that a woman with this shape of forehead hair is destined to outlive her husband."

Actress Yvonne De Carlo played Lily Munster in the 1960's TV sitcom may have been the first woman I noticed to have a Widow's Peak. De Carlo who died at the age of 84 didn't have a Widow's Peak in real life. A small peak via wig and makeup complete with white streaks.

Much of Yvonne's career happened before I was born, but I see from the documentaries she was quite a beautiful woman and appeared in many films. She was in the right place at the right time when color came to movies and earned the title of Technicolor Queen.

As time goes on, your immunity will drop and it would be necessary to have a booster shot.
That's my take on the subject.

Coming to you LIVE from...

It's been a few years since I visited my brother in Dayton, Ohio.
The last time was for the funeral of his wife, about 4 years ago.
I was running out of excuses and got on a plane and made the trip. I got to see nieces, nephews and their kids. Today it was happy times for all of us.
We left hot humid weather in South Florida and the first day here was highs in the 80's with low humidity. Tonight it's 67 which would be considered winter in my hometown.

I'm here for the weekend and have a list of 'things to do, places to go and people to see' that includes the aircraft museum with it's iMAX theater and 3D movies.
