Panko...

I know what I like and don't like when it comes to foods. With limits, I'll try new things from time to time. It was time to buy another package of Italian bread crumbs and Panko style came into my radar.
Without a doubt, organic chicken breasts dipped in eggs and rolled in Panko then pan fried was 'totally awesome man'

Unlike the photo, it's best to cut the chicken into thin strips so the Panko covers every piece!

Let the hacking begin...

Less than a month ago, part of Champlain Towers South in Surfside (Miami Beach) Florida collapsed and the city is warning families of the victims to follow up on identity theft and hacking as they are going after assets of those who perished in the tragedy.

autopilot...

Lots of websites are designed to run without administrator intervention. One place I've traveled to verifies all new members and photos only for minimal compliance that a person (and not a bot) is on the other end. That doesn't stop new members from using stolen photos of famous people as 20% of the new members are fakes.
Other than a casual visit by administration, CS is in perpetual autopilot mode. The site exists with 1 week probation for new members and blocking some words that are commonly used but considered offensive...
Examples:
A female chicken is a hen and the male is a c*ck. Oops, I mean rooster!
(I'm told that 'c' word is used in the bible but not allowed on many public forums)
Dogs? Bastard is the make dog and b*tch is the female.
I haven't checked and possibly they get blocked.
But... 'shit' gets past the word filter!

Back to the point of this blog. As mortal members we don't know who actually runs the place. A main moderator and some other staff, possibly a programmer or two is what I envision. Months ago, the moderator wiped out dozens of blogs and posted his own to say the site needed to go in a different direction (with less blogs of a certain type) and for a while blogs that didn't comply disappeared. I checked yesterday and the moderator hasn't logged in (to that profile) in months. Reporting bogus profiles is something I do often and going back to see they disappeared within a few days was normal. Something changed as no less than 30 scammer profiles are still here. Some haven't been back since they were created and others are still active. This leads me to believe there is more autopilot than administrative intervention.

That was the beginning of the end on another site. Let's hope it's not a repeat of history on this one.

The Surfside Condo takedown...

So far it's 24 dead at the Champlain Towers South condo in Surfside where a section collapsed last week.
Lots of news (and fears) about the approaching tropical storm, but South Florida had 2 days of perfect weather. Rescue work was suspended last night and the remaining portion of the building was taken down around 10:30pm in a controlled demolition.

The thought of that sickens me.

The official statement was between 10:00pm and 3:00am
You couldn't wait... could you?

I read the collapse was to be away from the area where the first section fell so it didn't hamper continued rescue in finding as many dead as they could. At this point, there is no hope of recovering anyone alive.

I'm thinking of the residents to the 100+ apartments that remained standing. They were evacuated and not given a second to take any belongings with them.
Important things like identification, documents, jewelry, cash, keys all remained inside.

The whole thing was handled poorly. It's a fiasco to a degree beyond comprehension.

Both sides of the beachfront have been barricaded and the waters patrolled by coastguard. I haven't read anything about the

More to come...

Duct-taped on a flight...

In the old days, If you get unruly on a flight the pilot takes the plane to the nearest airport where authorities are ready to greet you. They don't have time for such bullshit now and it appears they will duct-tape you to the seat as they continue to their intended destination.

A woman in an American Airlines flight decides she wants to leave the plane in mid-flight, attempting to open the front door, attacking flight attendants and spitting on them.
The woman was taped to her seat for the rest of the flight... laugh

If I were RICH...

Weekends and YouTube were made for each other watching videos of famous (usually wealthy) people who have collections of classic or hard to find 'things' as rarely someone with money only has 1 or 2 of something.

Eric Clapton had a few dozen guitars, mostly of sentimental value, but some were really classic. Many were sold at auction to raise money for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. I recall the 1956 sunburst Fender Stratocaster used on the recording "Layla" fetched a half-million to an anonymous bidder.

David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) has an awesome guitar collection.
Joe Bonamassa cornered the market on vintage tweed guitar amplifiers.
Keanu Reeves has a warehouse where he stores his prized motorcycles
Drummer Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick) filled a warehouse with drums of all years and flavors.
Brian May (Queen) is obsessed with VOX model AC30 guitar amplifiers, all in perfect condition. His stage setup is at least 6 amps that get checked often and there is always a few backup amps that go on tour in the event of failure.

My instrument collection at it's peak was only 5 guitars and bass guitars. 4 sets of Uilleann pipes. The pipes are gone and 6 guitars/basses are scattered around my condo.
I'm left-handed and salivate when I see a left-handed instrument come up for sale.
One internet based store sells good quality imports usually from South Korea. Before COVID, they had lots of stylish models for under $400. Inventory dropped off and now the new stock instruments are nearly double in price!

Focus (read: obsession) for me now is model helicopters and I've lost count to the number I own. I have 3 of a favorite model as they often sell out and it's months before new inventory and parts are in stock. They are (by some standards) cheap to be in the under $400 range.
Referenced by the blade length 330mm is a comfortable size for me.
I recently bought one that has 550mm blades. Extreme performance, hefty price tag.
They say "Bigger is Better" and I say "I won't be retiring this year"

Getting on a plane with bedroom slippers...

I saw a video tonight with a woman throwing a temper tantrum at the airline ticket booth. That's one problem to itself. The other problem is she was wearing bedroom slippers.
I'll wager that airlines have listed what can and cannot be worn when attempting to board a plane and it wouldn't surprise me if wearing flip-flops, thin lace-up sandals or bedroom slippers makes it to that list. Passenger comfort is one thing, setting yourself up for failure is another.
The movable ramp that leads to the plane often has carpeted flooring and a good place to catch your shoe when there is a height difference from adjoining sections and I recall one woman had her sandal catch and break off as she boarded the plane. Her other shoes were in he luggage probably in the belly of the plane waiting to take off. Think ahead lady.

People don't consider panic and 'push-comes-to-shove' crowd situations. They are probably the ones who complain their freedoms are being taken away when that are forced to wear closed toe shoes. That's a cousin to wearers of tank-top shirt...

Using the wrong Gorilla... the saga has ended.

The woman who mistakenly used Gorilla Glue to fix her hair thinking it was the hair product Gorilla Snot has finally come to 'grips' with the whole episode.
A plastic surgeon was able to concoct a solvent for polyurethane and the whole process was 4 hours.
