World Giraffe day.
World Giraffe Day is an exciting annual event initiated by GCF to celebrate the tallest animal on the longest day or night (depending on which hemisphere you live!) of the year – 21 June – every year!Zoos, schools, NGOs, governments, institutions, companies and conservation organisations around the world are hosting events on or around WGD to raise awareness and support for giraffe in the wild.
Many people that love the outdoors have personal stories about about this animal. I'll add my story a little later when at home.

I am taking my grandchildren later this summer. They are both finally old enough to appreciate it.
One giraffe is over 22 years old has fathered 29 calves and has 5 grand kids. Here he is with his carrot Birthday cake.
These are the Rothchild's that have given birth there.

Anyway, In the 70s we were stationed in a small town in Namibia called Rundu which is on the border of Angola. Bordering the town was a wildlife reserve and this is where patrolling squads would meet and exchange info, chat etc. The resident giraffes in the reserve soon found out that this was the meeting place of about 14 guys every day and just as being on time to our patrols was to us it became second nature for the giraffes to be waiting for us to arrive and sit below the 8' high fencing that kept them out of the tiny town. These animals are very intelligent and was quite curious to our every move.
It was here that a giraffe fell in love with me. ( I think) either that or she was just out to terrorize me. This specific giraffe would single me out and 'steal' my bush hat as we were talking. Not anyone else's hat only mine. After I lost 2 hats in a period of about 4 or 5 days the quartermaster hinted that he should go have a word or two with my new found friend and discuss the possible return of then SADF property.
We obviously changed venues to the nearest tree further away from the fence after that.
My point is, giraffes are a very intelligent and a very curious animal and this one clearly had a thing for me and me alone.
I miss those days very much.
True story.

You probably know that every single giraffe on this planet has different markings. It's like a fingerprint.
Love these pics. Thanks.

Spotless arrival: Rare giraffe without coat pattern is born at Tennessee zoo
This poor guy is a nobody born with out prints or pattern, just a John doe.
This is the picture I was trying to post on your blog.
It’d be so cool to be able to have breakfast with the giraffes
