refugees, should we take them?

I don't know about you, but I personally think we should share this responsibility with the world. But make sure of two things: our safety is priority and they assimilate.

When we become naturalized, we're asked to speak English and support our Constitution.
Should they be obliged?

Note: Europe has released a lot of documents on the refusal of these refugees to abide by the German constitution.

Is there anything we can do different? Or simply over ride that provision and take them anyways?

Thanks all for your reads and comments.

I think people should be looked after better near their own culture and country as the wars will be over in their lifetime.
Maybe the very most vunerable who wish brand new life and start we should take in.
When I tried to settle in Germany many moons ago, I had to learn the language fluently before gerting work. My kids had to go to a auslander school to learn language before taking into mainstream schools.
I do know times have changed enormously but I was born in the country and my mother was German but still had to go through hoops.
Maybe when misplaced people enter country they could be helped with better security checks and they should want to intergrate or it wont work.
It puts the back up of people living already under hard times, its all very sad sad sad.
Agreed, Lindsy. handshake
nope you heard wrongwow but losts of things coming out of his mouth these days.
I thinker a hacker grin has entered himrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Red, thank you so much for your story. It is very logical and beneficial to both the host country as well as the refugees. I imagine that them being the seeker of refuge should be obliged to follow and observe what we stand and believe in for purposes of unity.bouquet
This reminds me of when the county wanted to build a juvenile detention center in a neighborhood and some mothers had been going around people homes with a petition against it.

Those mothers said "Not in my neighborhood"."I don't want my kids around those kids" attitude.

As of last week a family who just happened to be refugees moved into my neighborhood and pretty much have stayed to themselves.

I've been tempted to go over and welcome them to the neighborhood.

I've remained neutral on all of this cause I know no matter what we want the government will do as they always do anyway.Do things their way.

The US had already admitted 2,174 Syrian refugees since Sept 11,2001.
Thank you so much Mic. And frankly, it is not a question of us assimilating to them. It would be so ludicrous for me to give in to their values and be the one dressing up with their outfit? No way. It would be so hard for me to stop eating pork. sad flower sad flower
CC, thank you for being here. I know that the government will do whatever fits their agenda. I am a part of that government and as far as I know, it is a government for the people of the people and by the people, or we would be run by fascist and communistic or dictatorial and I don't believe that is the case. Being aware and in the know of our rights is crucial to our democratic government and I am sure so many will be in the ballots in the coming election that would require us, citizens to vote on.
My pocket says no but my heart says yes.

I think I should listen to my heart as my pockets have lead me astray once to often. bouquet

As for Merkel's Europe, Its nothing but a the rolling out of a pale reflection of the corporate greed and neo-con privatisation of governance you now seem to have in America. sad flower
Will we ever see lobbying against lobbyists roll eyes
Lets see Now
I Have no objections To People In Dire need... That are escaping for their lives
As long as They can be Proven to be harmless to this country
But What does irritate a little is This
(And its not just talkn About The Muslims)
When They get here..They will get
1)Free housing
2)Free Electricity
3)Free Heat
4)Free health Care
5)Food stamps
And eventually They will get jobs
And Where were these Jobs before They Came here?..And..Other Americans Will Come Out of The Woodwork To help These People
But They Wont do it for The Average American Whos In The same Situation.........."Whats Wrong here?"

The Average American Will not receive this treatment
But yet If you Come from Somewhere Else?
You get Everything handed to you
And its All free
And who Pays for all This?
Yep
You guessed it............................detective
You are so observant Non. And mind you, our pocket determines our decisions. As for our heart, more often than not, (me personally) led me more to disadvantaged than good.

Anyways, check this out, we can only help what our ability allows us to. When all is said and done, it is a question of: can I support myself? so I can support others?

I know you are kind and generous and good. It is more of a question of the long run impact for our future, right now, our safety. Are you safe Non?wave
In the world of the free. I doubt it Non. One of the downside of our free mentality but mind you, I would rather have a choice than none.sad flower
Nam a great point. And actually, the bottom line is to balance our needs and our principles not stained. I agree. When we extend hand, we must take care of our people first before anyone else. This is dire, I suppose but there are ways other than getting them directly here. My suggestion validates both the maintenance of our safety without undermining our humanitarian goals.sad flower
And yes, you are right, we the average hard working citizens do shoulder all these responsibilities. It is not like the whole world would pitch in. sad flower
Whats With The Flowers??
Are They For "Them"
Or For Our Under Deprived Americans??..........detective
For our wrong decisions acutely affecting our constituents Nam.sad flower
Thats What you get When you Put A Communist In Power

More Votes for the Communists

Hopefully That will change Soon..............detective
I promise you my friend. It will. There is not a doubt either Cruz or Trump would make a good choice. Lately, their true color is coming out and perhaps we can determine who is who amidst these challenges.wine
The quote, attributed to Prime Minister Cameron, is...

"...Not for the first time, I found myself thinking that it is mainstream Britain which needs to integrate with the Muslim way of life, not the other way around."

How many refugees do you propose to take into your home and does it matter which nationality they are?
Provided there are thorough checks for security reasons, I wouldn't object to helping people in dire straits. If a country can afford it, if its people are not in distress and refugees themselves, it is its duty to help, but security of its own people is of paramount importance. As for assimilation, the refugees' younger generations will go to local schools and assimilate naturally and easily. The 'stubborn' older generations will supposedly cling to their old ways and traditions, but in the long run their younger ones will do well and contribute their talent and knowledge to their adoptive country. Thank you for sharing your ideas on this topical matter!hug bouquet
Mic, wow that is an eye opener for Cameron, but what do I know.
It is not even a matter of proposal Crown. I would check how the number is determined. It might be a good lesson to check on Europe's situation. Germany accounted about 800,000 of them and Obama is considering 10,000.

Where do we draw the number I have no clue. Perhaps we should know how many refugees truly are.
There are parties that are strongly concerned of the safety of our nations to be at stake by taking them in.

In reality, if you know that there is a chance of these people to terrorize us, considering how much they hate the US, I wouldn't personally endorse them to come in here. Rather I would spend that money in a way that objectively look at my safety without denying help of these people.sad flower

Very difficult balance.
I understand how Obama is so committed to stand for the need to be humanitarian, but unless there is a big change on the monitoring or intelligence structure to prevent such a disaster, then it is not an easy task.sad flower

Or who knows this is a reason for the chips implantation. A very well set up by the administration to justify their next move.. yay yaysad flower
Perhaps it is. Reality is, these religion no matter what, has its own evil and you are right, why portray a part of a whole and forget that in life, no matter, there is black and white, light and dark and so on and on?

Thanks Non.
Only as long as they are detained first, checked out and then released or arrested.

ISIS has alot of tricks up their sleeve as the people of Paris found out!
You can take the man out of the middle east, but you can't take the middle east out of the man(or his kids).
