Socialism

A friend sent me this and I thought it's a very interesting information to share.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan... All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... " (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and are all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

cheers

Valentine's Day aside,You are a REAL Sweetheart-every day.heart beating thumbs up
P, thanks I'm most grateful of your comments and reading them that makes sense to our system. You're lovely and sweet attitude creates balance in this world. bouquet
There are social aspects to Canadian society such as health care and it work out good.
With the current health care Track, it put our working people in worse shape than before the Obamacare. sad flower
Have you ever talked to a person from Denmark ? studecar professor
America needs to take a good look at what can be done to overhaul the health care system. Obamacare was a flop which backfired but you don't want to go back to what it was before either as a lot of Americans could not afford to see their doctor. I'm not the right person to answer this but its something that needs to be looked at.
Stud, about what?

Track, yes, I am sure it's going to be reformed. It's of utmost importance or there's a huge protest against it.

For right now it's a total mess.
The Free Market system works the best, in my humble opinion.
Biggest problem is that America is divided on which way to go, its going to be hard to find something that everyone will like. Health care is expensive and not everyone wants to pay for it, but being a first world country, health care should be accessible to everyone. We pay a ton of taxes in Canada for our system but anyone can access it when they need it. Health don't recognize social standing or wealth, it can be a issue for anyone wealthy or not.
K, that's the antidote to socialism,big course.

Have you read Atlas shrugged?
No, but it supposedly a great book by Ayn Rand.
Yes Track, and I would clarify that we're divided long before Trump came to power.
K, it's my favorite book. It basically remove socialism principles. Encourages individual ability to progress. Rewards talent, etc..
Very interesting if socioeconomics peaks your curiousity. About 6:00 mark-
Economic inequality and "trust " of other countries and among the 50 states /U.S.
Suggestions to improve society; pre and post tax inequality.TedTalk.

If you like books that turn you off Socialism (not that you need one) , the definitive one is The Gulag Archipelago.
If anything I had the opposite take away from Atlas Shrugged (ie. if there's one thing humanity does not need, it's the idea of legislating for selfishness. Great writer though.

Peace.
Phyl,

I think one of the biggest problems here in America, are drugs of all kind! Lot of the population is on them! A good share of the people doing drugs won't and don't want to work! They get welfare instead! Gov. Scott in Florida has the right idea! If you are on welfare, drug testing is mandatory....no exceptions!

No simple answer to the problems here in America!

Nice blog! Thank your friend for me!thumbs up
Hello Lindsy, hug I tend to agree with GentleJim. Drugs are a major problems, not only in your country ,but ours as well. As the using of drugs goes up, crime rates go up as well, leading to countless other problems, doh
And unfortunately there is no end in sight.
P, thanks for the post. wave

You are most welcome.handshake
SR....really great example.

So one could argue that socialism will not work where self gratification has been instilled within each individual.

I wonder if it would not work if each individual had the best interest in society as a whole.

or

In your example, if each and every student had an interest in their fellow students' success.

The way our society is right now (me,me,me)....you example shows where socialism with that mindset may not work.

I will get back later guys, my friend needs help.

Ash, I listened to it and a very interesting view. wave
Not, this is one of the most emotionally charged book I've ever read. Non fiction and shuddering. It breaks you to the bone as you get carried away consuming all the sickening and unbelievable evil man can do to its fellowmenif only to know how communism can torture the living hell in us.

Communism as best documented and how evil such an ideology conceived by Karl Marx and Engel.

A most descriptive writing that gives us fresh knowledge on how bad it is to live sans freedom.

I can go on and on Not, and it only makes me feel how sad that we can capably corrupt our fellow human being and subject ourselves to the most evil if injustice just as true as how Solsenitsyn has written.
A most engaging read.

Thank you again Not. sad flower
Johnny, even with the me me mentality, we can still be kind and generous as we should be.
Gates us a prime example, in socialism he'd not have the ability to amass wealth, yet as of today he's on a record of 40 billion used in eradicating polio among other things that his foundation offers back to our society.

The problem with socialism far outweigh the negative impact if democratic society.

Look at Russia where people were housed in dilapidated properties.

I'm for our system Johnny as set up by our Constitution. Less intrusion or control from our government.

Thank you for reiterating my point, that one should, if they found a paying job, cause they might have to rescue their partner or themselves when things come crumbling down.cheers
