Hope...

Hope is a candle in the night

Hope is a long respite

Hope is a feather

Once lifted,it only get higher.

Hope is an oasis ina desert

Hope is a diamond in the dirt

Hope is everywhere

Yet hope is scarcely there

Hope is the dream of better days.

Hope is the passion ablaze

Hope is beautiful

And hope is tranquil

Hope is there for everyone

Hope is an assest that all

Has in abundance.

All Kidding Aside,Ma!We loved you anyway.

I have to admit, looking in the mirror,at 80 whole yrs.that I`ve been here,& wonder,as most of us women, sooner or later, kind of turn into our mothers.
Boy,did she use her charm,-Yeah,at every turn,(to her advantage)!! At the butchers, she`d curse at the government. But,at each holiday, she sang "God Bless America" the loudest of anyone...Never mind that she entered the U.S.A.at 16,couldn`t speak English, but found work, sewing clothing,in New York.Met a man, & married him. Had a child, but the husband died.
At the time they had moved to Detroit,Michigan. Her husband`s cousin was available,& she had an eye for him.She said one thing,& he told us another...She hid his coat,on a cold winter`s day-then married him.(need I say more)?
While I was one of five,Pa never said much, because she was the dominent one-got things done, though he`d never admit it.If there was a chance for money-there she was,no matter how little.
During the prohibition,a lot of people were inspired to make liquor,of some kind. The bottles were hid under beds,& other places.Ma got her way, threatening Pa with a broom to eradicate the booze,if things did`nt go her way.
Usually, not because she wanted her way,but because she was savy,& he had the devil may care attitude, that didn`t amount to much, but at least had a good work ethic.
Ma,also had boarders,& she chose the ones with good jobs, get them drinking, dancing, flipping quarters, nichols & dimes under my feet, while I danced,to the accordion they played,& they had some joy, during dark days, before the great depression.
I noticed that ,so much later, when they came to our new house. She`d tell them it was my birthday. She`s poke them with her elbow, c*ck her head in my direction & say, "give here something, it`s her birthday".them wink at them...and at the age of 5-10,how many birthdays could a little kid have?-
!Twenty dollars was a lot,but it was immediately snached out of my hand, while she said "You too young"..
..Then,meals were always made for neighbors, when there was a death or celebration in someone`s family,-she had heart, too. But after a conversation she had with the mayor, she`d only deal with the top-brass...she had trees removed,& didn`t need the leaves.Imagine, taking all that trouble to rake leaves(that weren`t hers,to the neigbor`s front yard, because they belonged to them)& they should clean them up....again!!!!!
She was diligent in every decision, she made. That was Ma.I copied the diligence, but I`m afraid that the deception was a little too much.God love her..just before she passed on,her words to us,(& all can remember):"just love each other".

Perfection in my Eyes

All I ever wanted was to be part of your heart,
And for us to be together, to never be apart.

No one else in the world can even compare,
You're perfect and so is this love that we share.

We have so much more than I ever thought we would,
I love you more than I ever thought I could.

I promise to give you all I have to give,
I'll do anything for you as long as I live.

In your eyes I see our present, our future and past,
By the way you look at me I know we will last.

I hope that one day you'll come to realize,
How perfect you are when seen through my eyes

Koi no Bori

Its that time of year again, when the days get longer with gorgeous sunshine, birds chirping again, all creatures come out of their holes and get busy..
I love Spring.

Well, I love all the seasons really, but in Winter I get melancholy..- but thats another story.

I love opening the windows and letting the breeze in, seeing the bees buzzing again and the little snow drops and primroses blooming..

Our time in other countries and Japan means that we now have a curious mix of family traditions, including hanging the Koi no Bori. It is a pole or string with colourful flags in the shape of koi carp. In Japan they are many meters long and tall, and a glistening windmill at the top.

Ours is a little more modest. We just have the black "Grandfather", a blue little "Son" and a tiny pink "Grandson". Because thats what they represent, the family tree. The traditions and family values that are being passed on.
The celebration is called "Kodomo no Hi" (= childrens day).

But to me the Koi no Bori represents Spring, the ever repeating cycle of regrowth starting again..
Happy Spring to you!

A Wish

I lie on the ground,
and stare into space,
the stars start to move,
into the shape of your face.

I see you there now,
looking down at me,
with that cute little smile,
that I like to see.

You say "close your eyes",
"tell me what you see",
I see only two people,
just you and me.

We're walking the shoreline,
with our feet getting wet,
the horizon turns pink,
as the sun starts to set.

We make love through the night,
on that white sandy shore,
then I hold you while thinking,
I could want nothing more.

Oh I wish I could be,
in that one special place,
as I lie on the ground,
and I stare into space...

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

the moon

Once upon a time, there was a moon.

The moon felt very plain and ugly. She felt terrible next to all the stars in the night sky.

I’ll never be as pretty as them, she thought. I’ll never be one of those beautiful dainty stars. Why can’t I be a star?

The moon looked her holey surface and felt sorry for herself. Why can’t I shine as prettily as the other stars? she wondered. Why am I just a rock while all of them can glow for themselves?

The moon was very sad and hid in a corner and cried.

The sun noticed the moon crying.

“Why are you crying, little moon?” the sun asked.

“I’m ugly,” the moon sobbed. “I’ll never be a pretty star.”

The sun looked at her with compassion in his eyes. “It’s okay, little moon. Come out of your hiding place.”

The moon looked up at the sun and dried her tears. Slowly, she inched closer to the sun.

“Don’t be afraid, little moon,” the sun said. “Come closer to me.”

Soon, the moon noticed a peculiar thing. The closer she moved to the sun, the more she shone!

“I’m glowing!” said the moon excitedly. Suddenly, all the stars in the background didn’t seem to bother her anymore.

“Little moon, you’re beautiful,” the sun said.

“I am beautiful,” the moon said, moonbeams shining from her lovely face.

The sun smiled. “Don’t worry about how the stars shine in comparison to you. Just know that when you’re close to me, you’re the most beautiful thing to grace this universe. And you’ll always be the most beautiful thing in this universe, to me.”

The moon shone more brightly than ever.

all i really want

i want someone who will hold me, even if i'm not sad.
who will understand that sometimes i don't want to be held.
i want someone who will laugh at my stupid jokes, really laugh . . . because they get the humor, not to make me feel good about myself.
i want someone who will let me almost win when i truly suck at something, but put in their all when i don't suck.
i want someone who will sit on the couch with me and watch stupid tv shows all night long.
i want someone who understands my s*xual appetite is only one part of who i am.
i want someone who understands my sarcasm and isn't offended by it.
someone who understands that i am a liberal, not a socialist, and i DO NOT support this new administration.
someone who will learn to love my daughter because she is who she is, and not just because she is part of the package.
someone who can appreciate what a beautiful mess i am.
i want someone who understands that i am ocd, i'm just not a neat freak.
someone who will love me for my flaws.

is that really too much to ask?
