The One Flaw in Women
By the time the Lord made woman,
He was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said,
'Why are you spending so much time on this one?'
And the Lord answered, 'Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
have a lap that can hold four children at one time,
have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart
-and she will do everything
with only two hands.'
The angel was astounded at the requirements.
'Only two hands!? No way!
And that's just on the standard model?
That's too much work for one day.
Wait until tomorrow to finish.'
'But I won't, ' the Lord protested
'I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick
AND can work 18 hour days.'
The angel moved closer and touched the woman.
'But you have made her so soft, Lord.'
'She is soft,' the Lord agreed,
'but I have also made her tough.
You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.'
'Will she be able to think?', asked the angel.
The Lord replied,
'Not only will she be able to think,
she will be able to reason and negotiate.'
The angel then noticed something,
and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek.
'Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.'
'That's not a leak,'
the Lord corrected,
'that's a tear!'
'What's the tear for?' the angel asked.
The Lord said, 'The tear is her way of expressing her joy,
her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love,her loneliness, her grief and her pride.'
The angel was impressed.
'You are a genius, Lord.
You thought of everything!
Woman is truly amazing.'
And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness,
love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take 'no' for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong we hen they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE TINY FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH

JUST GOT IN FROM SEEING DUSTIN HOFFMAN IN "LAST CHANCE HARVEY" GOOD FLICK... COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE DEEPER..DUG MORE INTO THE PROBLEMS OF AGING..AND LOSS OF IDENTITY..LOSING WORK TO YOUNGER KIDS.. DISTANCE FROM FAMILY..LACK OF COMPANIONSHIP.INTERACTION WITH PARENTS.... BUT IT DID NOT ..BUT IT WAS STILL GOOD...
THE GAL IN THE MOVIE MADE ME THINK OF THE WOMEN I MEET ON HERE..THEY ALL WANT TO DABBLE..PLAY ..BUT NOT GET INTO A RELATIONSHIP..DONT WANT TO GET HURT AGAIN..TRUST AGAIN.. I WONDER WHY THE MEN ARE WILLING TO RISK IT AGAIN..BUT NOT THE WOMEN..
MEN HAVE TO GO OUT ON A LIMB..ALL THE TIME...MAKE THE FIRST CONTACT..ASK HER OUT.. MAKE THE FIRST MOVE.. TOWARD A PHYSICAL RELTIONSHIP..WE TAKE ALL THE RISK OF REJECTION ALL OF THE TIME.. AND KEEP BOUNCING BACK FOR MORE..
MAYBE AT HEART ...MEN ARE MORE POSITIVE..MAYBE THEY DREAM MORE..BELIEVE IN FINDING THAT POT OF GOLD...MAYBE ITS THE LITTLE BOY IN THEM THAT NEVER QUITE GROWS UP ..OR GIVES UP....
THE MOVIE HAD NO GREAT LOVE SCENES..BUT MANY TENDER MOMENTS.. AND I THINK ..THAT WAS NICE...IT MOVED SLOW.. QUIET ..COMFORTABLE.. SERENE... INTIMATE..IN THAT IT EVOLVES..IN LOOKS AND GLANCES..GESTURES..RATHER THAN THE HOT PASSION OF YOUTH

i need to feel
i need to feel the nothingness, after the noise and blast of the door i need to feel the stillness, the world far below beckons but i'll take my time and enjoy the total freedom to move the very air i breath supports me i am alive till once again the world grows too big and its time to return
Pets of back40
Seems like I should be writing about myself but right now I'm still admiring the part shepard/husky mix dog,"Bob", that I'm sitting for the next 2 months or so.
He's about 12 years old and the quietest, calmest dog I've ever seen. He doesn't beg, doesn't bark, likes everyone, doesn't chase other animals.
If he has any bad habits I guess it would be chewing up tennis balls till they won't bounce anymore. On top of all this he's absolutely gorgeous ! He "talks" in small whimpers when he wants more petting or playing and in less than 2 weeks I've come to love him more than I would have thought possible.
I had a small dog,"Suzi", that I'm sure was the smartest dog in the world. She seemed to understand
everything you said to the point of us spelling out a few things, thinking that she wouldn't understand but I know she she understood "e-a-t" and "r-i-d-e".
After a number of vet visits Suzi died of a collapsed trachea. After 7 months I still miss her.
In the past 40 years we had a black lab,Reena,that played possum if you walked by her at night because she thought she may be sent to the basement, She'd close her eyes real tight and then open one to see if you were looking or whatever. Also had several black cats but my favorite was the first, "Keever" whom, I swear, could read my mind. Keever died in 1991, while we were away at a hospital for my (now deceased) wife's first bout with cancer.
Also had a mini horse, Jinnger Ale, that was a lot of fun and taught me a lot about horses. We also had a lamb (another Suzi) that died in my arms at 8 months old, after conferring with 5 vets about a possible cause for her running into walls and staggering. As always seems to be the problem,this,of course, was on a weekend and no vets available except by phone.
One of the most interesting and fun & funny was a little black hen, "Emmy". She was another that seemed to know us better than we knew her. Meeting the cars as they parked in our yard, talking or begging for treats and followed me around like a puppy. But the one that topped 'em all was one summer I was building a storage shed,and as I was shingling the roof had climbed off the ladder to retrieve another tool from the garage and returning to the roof could not locate my hammer. Looking all around I finally gave up and got another from the garage.
Returning to the shed I spotted Emmy laying down, I put my hand under her and there was my hammer !
Don't know if she was trying to hatch it or just tired of the noise ! Many times before she would come running to me when I was hammering something and if it was on the ground would have her beak only an inch or so away from the hammer.
Guess I've neglected another/lamb/sheep, Teddy, that we actually got for/as a playmate for Jinnger, the minihorse. And a playmate she was. They'd kick and bite and chase each other most of the day, stopping only to eat. Real fun to watch them.
