I don't have time for this now but if anyone is interested look up Pelagius, free will, and the problem of evil.

Cain killed Abel and Abel went out into the world to find his way. Cain went out into the land of Nod (mysterious eh where did that come from?) out of the presence of God ironically. Evolution is God's plan and was laid millions of years before Adam and Eve. The world was in full formation when Cain went out to find a wife and he did and their son is Enoch.
Why are we so caught up in the wording, the Bible is the Living Word and as such can only be read as a book by those without the key. The key being the Holy Spirit.
We all have acces to this wondrous gift, and with free-will we can choose to ignore it's gifts...

How can we know Pelagius was real or that his postulations were not the works of others? He claims authorship on the subject of free-will yet he had one before he questioned it? Where did it come from? If it was there before he imagined it then he is surely not the author, merely a philosopher and not to be trusted with his works based on abstracts I guess. His point bear merit but that is because I choose to accept blindly the words of a man dead these long centuries... Perhaps the tales of Pelagius were misconstrued to allow others to control those who wished to believe. It appears that all words from anyone not currently present are to be questioned as perhaps out of context. But yet we accept them because they do not shake us out of our jello-trees. The bible is such a book yet behold the shaking of the trees and the apes falling from them.

Shakespeare's own works have come under scrutiny yet with mounds of speculation we still apply his works to our greatest past-times. Movies, songs, poetry, etc... With the ongoing debate as to the authorship of his works are the words no less real. We accept them because they bring joy and wonder. There are no forums here to post against him because again his words do not make us feel the miising part of our beings. Our soul is as hungry as our bodies and must be fed. The material world is for the body. Emotions are for the mind and the bible is for the soul. Starve one and suffer.

A piece of biblical evidence. The nation of Israel is mentioned in the bible. The time and authorship of this book aside, we can all agree that it was not written 50 or 60 years ago correct? Well the nation of Israel took place May 15th 1948. The bible makes direct reference to this nation much earlier how? Could it be that the word of God trancends time and space? A word that is meant for the soul, an immortal entity without time. Only the body dies and it is through this obsession with our own needs that time became the current god of our homes, closely contested with television. Just look about your home and see the precise locations of these items. Keyed centrally to each room they accupy. Yet the bible lies covered in dust in some forgotten place. Sad feed our empty need for time and starve our souls. At least the fridge is in plain view.

Proof of a soul.
Children have an amazing ability to comprehend what we have laboured long and hard to forget. We ride a bus and feel the pressures of the 'contact' of persons within our three foot personal space. We need not see the intruder yet we feel them at close distances. Children sitting in a room playing need only a few econds of contact at a much greater distance to allow them to 'communicate' in this fashion. A new child enters the play area and the others almost immediately look up, a few moments of internal scrutiny and they are all playing as a group. When this is not the case it is invariably the result of their environment, lack of contact with others etc.
A baby knows when it's mother is out of range and will scream to allow its parent to find it again. How they cannot see beyond their noses at this point.
The soul is present at birth and is unharnessed and not regulated. We as we receive hurts and barbs learn to protect this tender being and hence we cannot use its awesome strength beyond a mere few feet. Sad that our greatest gift is crippled at such a young age.
To restore it to its former glory we must feed it. Take a wounded or abused animal, it is reticent and hesitant to accept contact. Feed it and its fears dissipate and you can restore the bond that once was shared. The same goes for our souls, feed it the miracles and blessings await.

Well, here am I, a sinner supposedly - and the words below are from a document called 'The God Idea - Conclusively Disproved'. Even the idea of 'sin' is a human construct designed to keep societies (various) from disagreeing with the ruling classes and running smoothly - for their benefit, not ours.

The God ideologies encourage one to lie back with a comfortable 'faith' - the other alternative isnt easy but, hey, life isnt ever easy whichever way we look at it -

this is the copied bit and refers to just one of the basic suppositions of a God, those being, A god is generally believed to be:

Perfect (complete in every respect; without fault or error)
Omnipotent (has unlimited power and authority)
Omniscient (has unlimited knowledge; knows everything past, present, and future)
Benevolent (is all loving, compassionate, understanding, concerned, accepting, tolerant, etc.)

Benevolent God

This word is probably the most controversial among those used to describe the idea of a god. It implies that a god can only do good, yet almost every religious scripture that I’ve read, virtually dripped with the blood of innocent people, labeled as "unrighteous" by faithful believers.

They are endless excuses to justify these written atrocities. Despite contrary evidence, most religious people believe that their gods are not capable of doing anything bad. Obviously this is not so, since bad things happen all the time in a world that a benevolent, perfect being supposedly created.

The fact that bad things happen at all proves that a god cannot be benevolent. Religious people have attempted to defend this obvious contradiction also by suggesting that humans are far too limited to understand a god’s goodness.

However, this maneuver brings us back to familiar ground with respect to superstitious words - a difference in kind, as apposed to degree. Any fool can conclude that humans only understand goodness from a human perspective.

But, once you say that a god is benevolent, you commit yourself to the position that you “can” determine the goodness of a god. Arguing that humans cannot understand a god's goodness destroys the original premise that it attempts to uphold. If our standards of goodness and evil are invalid when applied to a god, then we cannot discuss the issue intelligently.

Oh yeah religion gave us money and it's wonders (just ask those without it) and napalm, and nuclear and biological weapons. Sure it hurts to be hit with the bible it is an impressively large tome, but wow to fear it more than mindless humans that's a leap of faith even I can't take.confused

Sir you are absolutely correct else there wouldn't be so damnably many of them but the gist here is Spirituality. Never mind the pretty covers to the word (or the not so pretty ones) just read and listen to the word.

And then radical movements within their system blow themselves and others up. The muslim faith is mirrored in the bible and yet you give it credibility and shun the other. Words are from people, but the word is for all. Let the Holy Spirit help you translate and you will see a brand new design here compatible with the world's religions. Do the same for other holy texts and you will find the same.

You said- "I want to hear from all you bible thumpers as well as you "sinners" LOL"

There is the proof right there, instead of using the term "non believers" you insult us by calling us "sinners" and you show us the evil inside you by doing so AND laughing about it! Not what I'd expect from someone that thinks he is connected with God.

I looked at your profile and it says you are "Christian/other" but you seem to have a bit of the Devil in you.

I also like a good debate, but I need to get something straight before I move on.....I'm not a bible thumper......I'm a human being like everyone else. I don't even read the bible or go to church, yet I believe in God.

If you want facts about His existence, you just need to take a look at my daughter and you need to understand the situation I was in when she was conceived. I have proof at home stating that I would never be able to have children....yet, she's sleeping next to me every night.....

I live in a crime-ridden country, where I could be alive now and dead the next moment for a mere R10-00 and a mobile phone, yet I still wake up every morning and I can smell the earth and the goodness coming out of it.

Yes, Jesus is also God, so is the Holy Ghost.....

I don't need facts to back up His existence.....I just believe.

We are not all meant to be the same and we are not all meant to THINK the same. We live in a free world where you and I can differ in belief, yet we can all sit around a camp fire and have a good and honest discussion about this.......

As a mother, I have known the unrivalled beauty of giving birth. As a gardener, I embrace a childlike enthusiasm for the buds of spring or indeed, for something which defies the odds and flowers in midwinter - these things hold for me, the magic of life.

Theism however is a completely different issue and in my opinion strives to compell us to believe this, that or the other explanation for all that simply 'is'.

If we all treated each other with just a little of the respect reserved for these unproven deieties, then the whole world would be a better place in which to exist and raise our children - unbiasedly.

Here is the problem with religion threads as well as politics, they always start arguments because people want their voice heard. And the Original Poster knew what they were doing when they started this, i responded once and you tried to get me with a remark to get me going to start getting mad. The pot is being stirred and stirred until it boils over on this subject.

Maybe we should just have our own beliefs, because really NO ONE has to prove any evidence or belief to anyone.

MY .20 cents
