Well, I'm sorry but without faith there can be no discussion of God. Faith is everywhere. We have faith in our families, friends, and loved ones. Without faith we would have no families, friends, or loved ones. We would have no God. But does that mean they would cease to exist? Faith is personal and vital in every aspect of our lives.
So, if I must leave out faith, then I must hold my tongue.
there are scroll found that date back to the pre-Christ period. And the writings of Josephus adds some credibility to the Bible as a historical document. However, there is no evidence that this man Christ, was the son of a god that no one seems able to prove exist
I am sure all the Christian Coalition folks will be out shortly to help you with this issue, though!! You know, the ones who are on a dating site, but never have anything to say unless it's right wing politics..ie christianity
Just knowing the bible is the most well known book even wirtten and to think of the history of grand churchs and religion people in the world bares truth of God and its faith that is important though I go to a spiritual church who have mediums bringing through the spiritual people from the other side I still would go to a normal chuch but i favour spiritual and the third age way as i feel i get more insight from it i believe in angels and find people like shirley maclaine,Caroline Myss and Wayne W Dyers and the like very interesting people in their third age beliefs I still believe in God as we are part of God and as its well known jesus die for our sins but its would take someone who studied the bible to try to explain the proof
Actually....the Koran is more widely used. Christianity is one of the smallest and most insignificant religions of the world. Buddist Hindu and Moslem individually, out number christians!!
The bible may have more published, but they sit on bookshelves and coffee tables or in hotel rooms and are seldon read. Very few have honestly read the Bible cover to cover. Muslems, take their teaching much more seriously!
I just came on and read this thread. I'm on dangerous ground, because in the middle, where I can see both sides, is most likely where I'll get run over! I don't know of any physical proof that God exists. The only thing I can offer is personal experiance. When I accepted Jesus as Lord and saviour, it changed something inside of me. Was it just a self-hypnosis, or something more real? I'm not knowing. But I do know that it changed the way I felt, the way I acted, and most of all, the way I treat and perceive others. That may not be physical proof, but it is tangible, and not just to me. My best wishes to you all!
I believe in God, but let us remember Christ was pronounced divine by a roman Emperor, prior to that is was an argued point. I choose not to accept his divinity. I always found it funny that you meet all these people who claim to be atheist, but is they get shot or are unsure of death they begin praying to God. Another thing that always amused me is people looking to gain forgiveness on their death beds, Honestly if you new it was wrong why didn't you ask the person to forgive you earlier? If I ever truly meet a true atheist, I will respect them immensely. People believe in one thing or another because it helps them accept that life can suck and someone or something is on their side no matter what.
Noah's ark finding...false. Odd shaped rock and dead tree formations on the mountain side. That was proven not long after it's discovery. Plus the dimensions were wrong.
I wish I still had that article. Besides, if that particular discovery were proven true, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
And I know someone's going to say, "The ark of the Covenant is in a shrine in Ethiopa" No one has seen it, Outiders are not "allowed" Even the guard has never been inside the shrine.
And those who want to point out the Shroud of Turin. Even Bible scholars have agreed with the carbon dating taken from a sample of the cloth which dates the shroud to the early 1400's. And the weave pattern of the cloth does not match the patterns of the time of "Christ." Anything else?
Yes it was Jesus was a fisherman you know and likely learned this from his family. Quite the long line of talented anglers (of men as well) now that is multitalented...
What about the scientific data that indicates the flood through soil patterns that is found on every continent? The times indicated in these hard fact findings match the time indicated in the bible for Noah and the flood?
Harshness without the intellect of converse is the means of the simple man (and woman). Let he (or she) who is without sin cast the first stone... Nah the blind leading the blind.... Ignorance is bliss, and this room is full of bliss.
The lady has a valid point and if we listened to her we might just learn something here. Come on guys be polite. We listen to you and you ooohs, and awwws, and such Mindless driven compared to words that complete full sentences.
See Griz has an open mind and is just attempting to provoke conversation. He seems like a developed person and is capable of learning. What about the rest of us?
as far as I am concerned about this thread, is it is not about facts or fiction about God. It's about how you can make God's existance not exist. Also, a debate is always good. But your kind of debate from now on I will definitely stay out of. It's not a debate, it's you and your opinions your fighting for.
