Tha's true. And also brings the point of free will up again, as that is the main purpose of free will - we choose to accept or deny Jesus, and the consequences, if any, rest squarely on our shoulders and no one elses!

Archaeological evidence? youll have to be more specific. And what about MY evidence? you've yet to dispel the fact that christ birth of a virgin, performing of miracles, crucifixion resurrection, and ascension are all very old motifs that long predate christianity. hundreds of pre-christian religions subscribe to this system including the Egyptian sun god Horus whose life story is nearly identical to that of christ's. Most any characteristic of christianity that you might find distinct is nothing more than a ripoff of an earlier religion.

i suggest you actually do some real research instead of defend your religion with circular logic

One thing you missed that Jesus did that Horace did not. Just before Jesus healed one man in the temple, He told him "Your sins are forgiven." Not in so-and-sos name, but by His own authority. The scribes and pharisees had a fit! Who can forgive sins, but God? And this man was placing himself at that level? Yes, He was. Of course, I accept the Bible as fact, not fantasy. If you examine the scriptures as though you were in a court of law, the evidence is there to support this. I haven't the time or patience to type that much tonight, however, I will make a draft and post something concerning this in the next few days, that is, if anyone would care to hear.

peace

Tom Harpur, "The Pagan Christ; Recovering the Lost Light," Thomas Allen, (2004).

These were the two most significant that i can recall.

Acceptable here? i didnt think a free online dating forum would have limits of acceptability criteria. though im not too worried with my facts being grounded as they are

When I look at what is commonly called "organized" religion there are quite a few contadictions that are even worstened by some of the explainations for the unexplainable. When I look at a universe without some kind of "creator" it is all a bit much to credit just science and chance. The one most common demoninator in both the pro & con debates of religion is the attempt to control. Each religion proclaims itself as the only true religion ... science seems to be a little more flexible, at least being willing to ponder things that can't currently be explained. Interrestingly, some of the greatest scientific minds profess at some time in their life a belief in some sort of higher power.

Perhaps that is what real "faith" is all about; choosing to believe or not and if you do, you choose exactly what to believe in. As for me, my persuit of philosophy has taken me into the study of many religions, cultures, and belief structures. I'll never be able to see and experience all of them but the one uniform concept of a higher power is found in each.

Having twice been declared "dead" I experienced something that I cannot explain after what I think was my death, but since there is no way to put a timeline on the event and what I thought I experienced, it's impossible to definatively say.

Native americans seem to have one of the least intrusive forms of worship believeing in a relationship between themselves, their departed ancestors, and "grandfather" who is the maker of all things. They do not attempt to force their beliefs on anyone, but are willing to share their belief's with those that are interrested .... which strikes me as a much more reasonable, less manipulative approach to belief.

Faith is much like integrity. The truest measure of either is what a person will do, knowing that nobody else will ever find out ....

Why do you labor under the assumption that Ghandi would be in hell?
You don't see that as correct . Why would an intelligence far beyond you see that as correct ? I too believe the system you are discribing is extremely flawed.
