Thought I would try a new format of poetry. Since they are short I posted several together
just me being impatient......and NZ has such a mild and short winter......compared with the UK where I was born......
This is a nature poem of the abilities of the humble spider. Written 25th December 2013
The bumblebee cichlid is a fish that lives in deep caves and cleans parasites off the cat fish,when it is in a yellow and brown striped coloration, when the cat fish spawns and lays eggs this little fish changes to a dark brown and steels the cat fishs eggs. when he is cought he quickly changes color back to the yellow and brown stripes as the cat fish reconizes this color as the friend.
The first of the summer rains ...........its been really dry an just the odd shower ........this feels like the first of our wet season .....slow but steady rain.......

I was missing NZ Christmas trees, the pohutokawas in bloom this time of the year...then I remembered Ponciana trees are everywhere here.. like pohutokawa trees they also herald the coming of the new year...I wrote this last night and as I am posting it now I checked if I have the spelling right...to my surprise I found a song about the tree... written long before I was born. This is about observing where and when the sun rises and falls at different times of the year; year after year in the same place.
I am often marveled by the patterns left in the snow by the wind blown oak leaves.
