I made some adjustments to my previous piece, "The Sound Of Silence". This piece, "The Power Of Silence", allows a fuller treatment of Silence. Thanks to those who commented on "The Sounds of Silence".

What is the good of your stars and trees, your sunrise and the wind, if they do not enter into our daily lives? E. M. Forster Open group @ Poetry Corners on FB

I bought a print of this old picture by Charles C. Curran dated 1913 this past week and it inspired me to write a poem about it.
Have you ever stopped to notice when mixing colors what miracles are performed? How it is possible for red and green to produce brown while red and blue, a purple hue. What is it that prompts one to create one pair versus another when eit
Sweet Dreams! (iambic tetrameter)
A Haiku poem: A Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons. In nature there is no good or evil. It's non dualistic. Inspired by Joseph Campbell.
When selecting a poetry style, some of you may have noticed "Tanka" listed alongside "Haiku/Senryu/". A Tanka is another short form of Japanese poem, consisting of five lines. The first and the third lines contain 5 syllables, and the others, 7 syllables. The full layout is: Line one(1) - 5 syllables Line two(2) - 7 syllables Line three(3) - 5 syllables Line four(4) - 7 syllables Line five(5) - 7 syllables It allows you more words than the traditional haiku in which to express your poem. Some of you may want to try it.
Love to look at these trees when I walk in the park each day. The winter picture reminded me of silent sentries standing guard.
Anticipation of Spring
Inglorious lashing counts with the blink Of an eye, sleepy with a passionate stare Lingering, a tasty morsel dreamt between Teeth, a deliberate pressure…pressing Where shadows dare to creep, inside Determination waits and steals a lick Between
"You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars..." - The Desiderata
Defining words of horses. This was written on an observation of rounded up two-year old colts and fillies. At birth they are imprint trained, halter and lead broke. Then they are turned out to pasture to grow and thrive. At their two year birthday, they are rounded up and vaccinated, gelded as needed and saddle trained. Imprint training works wonders. After a few tense moments, they settle down and remember the imprint training. They handle very well and training them is a breeze. :-)

Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sounds of Silence" was, and remains, my favourite song of all time. I spent many hours listening to it. Silence is the canvas on which all sounds are painted. I have tried to capture its essence with this haiku. I am not sure how others will respond to it but it is deeply personal to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jqn9SKYAgY Some of their other great hits are shown on the same youtube page.
The wheel of life keeps turning every day Birth, life and then the subsequent decay All living things must return whence they came The pattern always remaining the same All living things start life's journey at birth Become adult through the p

Alone with nature one can feel a strange unity with everything around Unity that is so strong and overpowering that one loses consciousness of one's individual self One's consciousness seems to merge with a deeper consciousness of the uni

IF YOU GO AND CLICK ON POST A COMMENT the whole tree shows up its awesome.. My little pear tree.. I was just mowing my grass.( 3 acres) I notices my little pear tree. its only 4 feet tall 4 inches at the base 2 lonely branches coming off the base and little twigs coming off that the the branches are like 2 inches around at the most.. I almost cut it down a few years back because i was sure it was dead.. I just didn't have the heart.. It is so loaded with pears at least 50 that is bent completely over touching the ground.. I have been so overwhelmed with my own grief and locked inside my depression I never noticed or I would have found a wedge for the 2 lonely branches.. Nature never ceases to amaze me.
Nature's only border is survival.
