The Soul

What is a soul?

What resides in the space between our hearts and our minds?

Where does one go for answers to question such as these?

And how do we live with the time on our hands that covers up the lies that run like so much water towards the sea of inequity between you and me?

Can humans really know what is needed, now, in this moment, in this space of time?

Tell me, can we overcome our barren instinct for survival and move to the spirit of ourselves and become like the sun, when poised on the horizon dawns to bring the new day.

There is original thought........

Knowing we are not all knowing, should make us humble.

POET TO POET 2-15

my dear poet
here is a vision
I had last night in my dream.....

here lays a woman
in her casket of glass
loosely holding a gladiolus in her arm

in a gesture of
pure abandon
she relinquishes
all pledges of youth
to leap into endless mirroring of sleep

she reveals a
slender breast
where stirrings of
innocence and desire
culminate to a levelled peak

a loneliest blossoming tree

water floods now her muted body
as she drifts down the sacred river
to sink into the disparaged
sun of mortal wish

it is me, poet
with the end-light of a fallen star
shielding my face as I flee
& you run bewitched
from threshold
to threshold in seek
of my dying scent

I awake clenching a lilac
between my teeth

I must close,
write soon,
SAS

Haiku Challenge attempt(?)

Pearls from the Ocean
Butterflies are from Heaven
Diamonds come to light

Spring flower colors
Winter snow with freezing winds
Summer warm breezes

Family and home
Getting together again
Darkness has lifted

A hymn to veena

Oh Clouds above sing along
For I travel to Shimoga
With my soul-Veena

An embrace on her enchanting beauty,
A fathomless solace engulf the spirit
An inexpressible appreciation she deserves
Traveling near to the ethereal
A harmonic whisper she produce
Filling the void of this seeker,
Edifying this mind her strings dance.

Oh! Tress Sing along
For I travel to shimoga
With my soul-Veena

Appealing to the spirit of ears
A vital gratification she sheds
Heard in the earthly breeze-her sound
A cosmic being her body is
An endless passion overshadows
To be thy half in this birth and in the births to come.

Oh Stars Above-Mother Kaveri, Sing along
For I travel to Shimoga
With my soul veena

IMAGINE - FINAL PART

Embedded image from another site

Imagine the world without the Candle Christ
The candle symbolizing Jesus – his love and sacrifice
The little King in a manger came to save all of those
His children from the beginning of time he had chose

Imagine the world without that Christ candle
It would be like a lantern without its handle
He brought the lights of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love
Which are all gifts from our Heavenly Father above

But the greatest gift even more then all these
Is the promised gift of eternal life if we but believe
For in that sacrifice He took all our sins away
If we ask for forgiveness – our debt is already paid

So this Christmas as you celebrate the birth
Of that baby born 2,000 years ago on this earth
The lights of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love shine bright
And the love of God and his Spirit guide our life

Cast away

Rooster in sync with the sun's rise a day. A shower an shave no time to waste, six days have past, the seventh will be to free up my conscience with an envelope stuffed. Rope is in tug as the brass beckons all. Six days before an last nights recall. At least my spots bought by one day a week in sunday of gather an minister speak. I feel so much better now sin is forgave, six days to go for the seventh again~

Another grain n tha sand

first bar in i knew it from the birth, whats life worth
dreamin nightmares runnin chasing lepordes, n heart snares who will care
from my evil done lord arrows covered tha sun what have I become
father said you gotta make your own lay so i sit and then pray
for the day hopin sin dnt turn me into lions prey
step as man as lord lends me hand
not just another grain n tha sand
must find my own way through the rain on the journey to who I am
winters cold black ice, startin to believe mistakes cant b made twice
loves loss thats the price in the worlds sin will opress to slice but must remain humbley nice
as my soul gets heavy in i lift weight off my shoulders for a knew clean slate
finish to inprove movein towards heavens gate or is to late God help dispose of my plate
see most shoot bullets frobbiden to from mouth rule hot metal to arrows light cool
it goes like this man you aint fit you cant make it thats called gun grip but they on the wrong tip
quickfast and the bullets they dont last be the wickness runnin in lion's high grass
then arrows, you can do anything dont let em tell you how to act seek enighlightment pullin the bow back
make sure your on the right track walkin in the truth of light where patiences in persistent evil lacks
so i spend my time duckin dogin bullets in firings arrows lik how robin hood doubled stacked
pericin the dark wounds healin brighter then the ones who down to soon in the night move to the moonlight
and if you keep a strong will then evil wont prevail in the evil will starve to death in its cold hell
so keep this and follow the light in let truth guide thee trust me i know once or twice i lost my sight
wandered away from whats right losin the blessin lord gave me just to get me through the night

candle and flame

He lights the candle
of our lives
when in darkness
we are found
divine flame
pure and true
and so the life
of God imparted
to the candles of
the broken hearted
stranger, widow, child
all of man kind as well
candle look
to the flame
and there burn bright
in eternal light
on this terrestial ball

Her Journey

In that unknown hour of night
A revered silence embraced the darkness
A flame ascends the womb of Sreesamma
Succumbing to the call of nature’s pain
She delivered a baby girl-Padmasini.
Sreesamma embraced her own self
Thanking the eternal realms above,
Casting an eye on the clouds above…
She prayed for wisdom to the new born divine.
The vital force of Padmasini burned alive
An immobile trans passed through her flesh
She communed with the sound of goddess
And she registered the sounds in Padmasini’s glowing soul
Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa…….

Days sped with a content force
Nature took it’s course on Padmasini
Time hath come to fill the right hand force,
Marriage was written on the cards below.
At an age of sublime divinity, a toy she felt of sacred thread
Narasimhachar smiled at her innocence

She tied the thread with prayers in mind
To that beautiful shyness in Mandapa,
The clouds above stopped their march to gaze at her endless beauty.

A musical dream her father had,
veena was gifted in the hands of this divine
she plucked the strings with infinite grace,
a lightening struck the skies above.

Motherhood embedded in female’s life
Knowing this nature’s law -9 took shape in her womb.
An ardous craft took to bring them up,
In those expanding days and nights
A fire filled heart surrendered to veena’s strings,
Managing the house with graze envied…….
The labour started at Gandharva yama
And continued till dawn with lovable glory in her eyes,
In this limited time allotted.
With an ancient sweetness she plucked the veena
In this hectic task, solace was in veena force.

Dancing to the tunes she played
The butterfly found wisdom in her room
Laughing to the tunes she played
The jasmine haunted the room behind her hair
Muttered in beauty of ragas she played
The plants around smiled with tranquil goose bum
She played with grace, signaling god’s sound
The world watched with curiosity ……
Padmasini’s fingers obey the god’s order……..

About this poem:
Musical Journey of Padmasini Narasimhachar

Padmasini Narasimhachar is a name that is synonymous with the world of veena players in Bengaluru. This flawless veena player was born on 1932 in Mysore, Karnataka to Sampath Iyengar and Sreesamma, a family that had musical syllables embedded in their daily life . Her father had prolific thala gnana to the extent that he used to play ghatam without formal training in the instrument .

She got married to Narasmihachar at the age of 12. Her formal veena training was instituted at the age of 13 under the guidance of Sreenivas Bhatt, after a short stint of 8 months with Sreenivas bhatt, she had further guidance from H.S Krishnamurthy. The call of mother hood came to her at the age of 16 and from then on she turned out to be the mother of 9 children.
Though the labor of managing a big family as a mother and also as a devoted wife was arduous, she never let lethargic values rule her world, rather was content with veena learning. Unlike these days machines did not support running a household, rather mothers of those days had to depend on traditional methods to ensure food and cleanliness in the household. The physical labour for running a household was a painstaking process, but to the credit of this mother of Nine, she found time for veena practice during the early morning hours between 3.a.m to 5.a.m and evening during 6.30 p.m -8.p.m. !
This thriving spirit of vision envisaged on the realms of music engulfed a tremendous energy on her, resulting in producing a fine veena player in the history of Carnatic music. Her first concert was on the auspicious day of Sri Rama Navami in Mysore. Mother has seldom given open consort’s, rather was more content in passing on her authentic, traditional and rhythmic classical knowledge to seekers of Carnatic music which continues till date. However she always performs during Thyagaraja Aradhana as a tribute to her Guru. For almost 30 years she passed on her knowledge in an institute – Shree Sarada Sangeetha Vidyalaya, with almost 60-70 students attending the classes every year. These students were trained from Junior Veena to Vidwath Examination.
Her commitment and dedication to veena is beyond words and the hardships passed through in obtaining this godhead knowledge are enviable. Padamasini Narasimhachar puts her knowledge filled wisdom in simple words ‘I do not know from where I drew the strength to manage such a big family & play veena. It was not done with any materialistic intentions but was done only with the sheer passion for wisdom. Without the blessings of Perumal it wouldn’t have been possible – I am thankful to him”.
It’s this sheer surrender, passion and bhakthi for the divine instrument that lifts her status quo in this planet. A status quo of godliness envisaged by many……..
