Beautiful Country

Beautiful country, thy lines so sublime
Horizons gently appear as fields unfold
yielding plentiful plantations of life's golden crops
The patterns of farmland lay a carpet of evolving colours
spreading away from the hills and forests
in a fanciful pattern of provincial tapestry

I love thee dear countryside of my childhood
you gave me memories to cherish
and a lasting love of our beautiful
British Isles

DOES A GOD EXIST IV

Is there a God... What happens after we die... Why are we here?
questions with answers mans smartest Stephen Hawking can't make clear
Most humans share a 'Faith' promising paradise after this life's through
they too worship an "Immortal Being" without definitive proof it's true

The subject of religion gets people riled unlike anything in our history
I'd surmise our existence would be less worrisome if void of mystery
"IF" a deity created humans he wantonly damned us I respectfully argue
He commands his greatest creation not commit the sins he wired us too

"You'll be healed If you believe with all your heart when you pray"...
a real 'Father' would assure 'his children didn't suffer in any way
I can't recall ANY love or mercy coming from the recluse invisible man
Once again I proclaim I own as much hope as one possibly can

Whether you do or don't believe must be the individuals choice
some lash out with vitriol to those who don't share their voice
With my heart and soul I still try believing theirs something to the myth
"FACT"... if I can't speak definitive truth about whatever I plead the fifth

NOTHING has shown it's worthy of blind faith so my amount is none
to appease and deter future contempt concerning this subject, I'm done!

The Search

It's logical to believe that we not alone in the Universe,
Wow, how did we get here?
Some would say a divine force (God) created us,
Philosophies emerged,
The ancient Greeks believed in polytheism,
And also a form of reincarnation,
As did the Hindus,
The Vikings had a warrior culture with Thor and Odin,
Judaism had the one God concept,
As did its spin off Christianity,
And of course Islam has the one God concept too.
The Incas had their Sun God.
The concept of a creative force makes sense,
Each culture developed its own philosophy of existence.
They developed a set of moral rules,
Necessary for peaceful coexistence,
All very commendable.
They based it on the known world of their time.
It gave people hope from the disease,
The hardship,
And their transient life.
The world moved on,
We saw the stars and the infinity out there,
We figured out some laws of physics,
But it always stopped at that big question,
Yes but why?
What came before the Big Bang?
What is the purpose of these forces of physics?
And why are we such little, frail creatures,
So curious?
Perhaps the answer is so simple,
We are part of this amazing process,
We have evolved enquiring minds,
As part of our survival.
We want answers,
Some use logic,
Some simple mystical belief,
I’m sure in the end we’ll get there,
But only if we let reason,
And our unique enquiring minds,
Let the universal laws,
Give up their answers.

About this poem:
I don't come on here very often now but I noticed that one of your poets..."looking2share" put up a controversial poem about the nature religion and God. It received many comments...most unfavourable. He stirred up a hornet's nest because he dared question what for some people is the answer to their lives. When you question established religious belief...it's a brave call. I know that most of us cannot accept a nothingness concept of death. We're more important than that. Anyway I just put down my thoughts. I do believe that we are part of a bigger picture but still think we are in the process of finding out what that is. I would hope this poem will generate some "positive" thoughts and discussion.

DOES A GOD EXIST III

Billions of believers claim there god is truth while all others spew lies
I too was blinded by faith until reality thankfully uncovered my eyes
Common sense says Father's wouldn't let "their children" suffer everyday
that cockamamy "free will" card is apparently the only one you can play

My bad! "He has his reasons" is the other sickening response I always hear
maybe every horrifying death is to remind us it's only him we need fear
Humanity wants their to be a god with a heavenly place awaiting...I get it!
don't outright dismiss that behind something so preposterous could be bullshit

It's insane that people just accept the outrageous stories man wrote in a book
when you fell victim to fallacious promises of an unfounded god you got took
Religion is reason for countless slaughtered throughout the history of mankind
negating real life relations to put a mythical deity first defines a loco mind

The infallible said there is no other god mankind better put any faith in
to deny me as your Lord and Savior would be an abominable sin
If you dare view George Carlin's "Religion is Bullshit" on YouTube please
besides laughing you may get why he and others feel religion is a disease

The Despaired Soul by Fernica Shuffler-Francis

When death calls upon me, I shall not fear
For I already know this evil world, maybe there's something better there
One thing my soul cannot reconcile, is why people hang on to what they call 'dear life'
And still proclaim that nothing but heaven will suffice
Are they confused or are they afraid to chose?
What is there to miss on this evil land
When all the truth we should know has been corrupted by man
Lord Cause me not to fault, for this hurt and anger persists
If God says we have choice, why weren't we given the choice to exist?
Is this God's word or the fables of man?
Because when Jesus spoke he clearly said, 'because of the hardness of man's heart , Moses was forced to write laws that was not God's plan from the start'
And with this feeling everyday
If choice is mine Lord, from this earth take me away
If choice is mine, then close my eyes at night
And Dear God, never let me see another daylight
It choice is mine, why should I suffer to go to heaven
It choice was mine, it should have been mine from the beginning
Another man's choice should not be my burden, my pain, my brokenness
The God I love and serve will not give man so much power to cause so much unhappiness
Where is my God that is pure, honest, true and fair
And who are you wearing this mask, imitating my God pretending he is there?
Give me back my true Jesus beloved
For only he can save my soul and take me above

About this poem:
This poem brings out the rage of a 'Dairy of a Black Woman'. A woman trying to maintain her sanity despite all the evils she has experienced, and her only hope is in God who will not answer her prayers, who will not ease her pain, who will not give her a the peace she begs for, leaving her in misery and an unwanted life.

Giver

Be a giver, not a taker.
One day it will come back,
Whether it was real or fake,
We always get what we gave back.

strange magic

strange magic

shades of passion
skim the surface
of lurid imagination
stretched tight like a drum

shimmering vibrations
undulating through
visions of reality
and jig-sawed humanity

in a slow ...
steady ...
acceptance of
misdeeds and miscalculations

we travel down a winding path
soft heather tinged with nettles
warmth of the rising sun
caressing our bodies

and the floodgates are open
plummeting down the slopes
taking flight on hot breath
reaching into a strange magic

of scintillating loss of self
screaming anguish
and bounded release
of minds melding

The Stranger And The Violin

A stranger had a violin and when he played
Righteous and sweet was the sound
Heard all over town

And all the good people agreed
They wanted to hear more every day
The stranger and the violin had lots of music to play

And then it was during early spring
When robins begin to sing
Suddenly a new dawn and it seemed the day waved a magic wand

When a pretty lady came into town
And all the good people were gathered round
And when she heard the violin play she couldn't help but sway

As little kids were passing by she took one by the hand
And as they danced around she felt so grand
Righteous and sweet was the sound heard all over town

And all the good people agreed
They wanted to here more every day
The stranger and the violin had lots of music to play
