Spiritual but not Religious

Spiritual but not religious
what does it really mean
This claim is quite prevalent
on today's scene

Is it just a new age fad
or is it contradictory
If in fact it is the latter
then what is the discrepancy

Religion has divided a person
into body, mind and spirit
It claims it seeks the spirit's welfare
and is sincere about it

If religion really deals with the spirit
then why is there such a fuss
that many still continue to claim
they are spiritual but not religious

Eve’s Conversation With God (part 2of2)

I was astonished, firstly that he spoke, for I had never heard another creature speak and secondly that now you wanted me to eat the fruit. I must have appeared to be dubious for he quickly continued.

“God realised that he was being unfair, that he should also let you enjoy this fruit.”

On and on he continued and my resistance crumbled. If Serpent said that God wanted us to eat this fruit then we had better obey; after all it had to be true.

Serpent handed me the fruit and I, unsuspectingly, took it. It smelt so good. One last smell and then I bit into it. The taste was indescribable. I had to wipe the juices of my chin. I wanted to take another bite but I thought that I better take the rest to Adam.

At first he was horrified but after I explained all to him he realised we were doing what you wanted. After all you had sent Serpent to give us the message. It was then Adam took a bite.

It was the next day, God, when you came roaring through the garden. You cursed us for eating the fruit and twice cursed me, blaming me for leading Adam astray. I had done nothing wrong, only done what I thought you wanted. I was deceived by the Serpent, but you did not want to know.

You banished us from the garden. Not only did you curse us but you cursed all our descendants. Why God? We had done nothing wrong, yet you would not listen.

You created everything, the universe, us, the animals and yes, even the Serpent. You created the evil that led us astray by using words of honey, telling me that he spoke for you.

You created the evil and then you blame us. We listened to words we believed came from you. Does this make it our fault? No! most emphatically no. god you set us up to fail.

The fault God really lies with you. You knew what would happen when you created the Serpent, yet you still went ahead. The fault really is yours. It is not too late to correct the wrong that you did to us.

Take back the curse and remove the evil from this world. You can twist and shape words any way you like but the truth remains. You created the evil and allowed it to attack us.

That’s all I have to say God.

Eve’s Conversation With God (part 1of2)

Dear God. I really feel that I need to talk to you about a gross injustice. I’m sure that you already know what I am going to say, seeing that you are omnipotent, but I still need to get this off my chest.

The first thing I knew was that I was opening my eyes next to something that looked like me, yet there were differences. You told me that he was Adam and that you had created him out of dust. Then you told me that I was created out of Adam’s rib, to be his helpmate, his companion, and you called me Eve.

I was in total awe God, especially when I found out that everything I could see, you had created. There was so much for me to take in. you God were the creator of everything, and it was all for us. Except … the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. From that tree we were not to eat.

I didn’t care about that tree, what could be so special about it. You said, ‘don’t eat from it,’ so that was good enough for me. Besides, I had literally only just opened my eyes. Why would I go against your wishes.

Adam and I frolicked around the garden; Garden of Eden you called it. There were so many types of fruit that we never knew where to start.

Everywhere we went there were different types of animals. You gave us the job to name them, that was fun. From one day to the next everything was just perfect. Seeing that you, God, had created everything there would be nothing here that could harm us. Oh foolish me.

One day in my solitary wanderings I came across a magnificent tree. Instinctively I knew that this was tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I didn’t even hesitate but turned away from it.

Imagine my surprise when I heard a voice call me that was neither you or Adam.

“Eve come here.”

Tentatively I approached the tree. There amongst the leaves, on the lowest branches was a creature. It had a long thin round body with no arms or legs. Never before had I seen anything like this before.

“What are you?” I asked the creature.

“Why I am only a servant of God. He sent me to see you. He now wants you to eat from this tree. Oh, and by the way, you may call me Serpent.”

Lord Show Me

For now there is life where
death once stood stopping us
from an existence.
For now i know this will light
each day as if putting a smile
on my face each morning.
For when i wake up and see the
beauty that lay in front of me.
The talent that God has bestowed
upon another bringing joy to
all that he/she meets.
For the Lord has put me here
to see all the beauty and talent
He has given each of us.
For we never know His plan with
our talent down the road.

Where to find me...

Oceans
not here
deep waters
I fear
the terror of drowning
a roaring I hear
from too many questions
and no answers near
a sea of emotions
the salt of a tear.

Cities
not there
too many blocks
all far too square
thousands of strangers
a vanity fair
millions of voices
such a hungry loud bear
and bodies which shove
and hands that do tear.

Meetings
of three
you won't
find me
rather wander alone
I say two form the key
Any number beyond that
And a crowd I do see
My small frightened soul
will be longing to flee.

Mountains
so high
enjoy
touching the sky
rocks slowly breathing
their time you can't buy
ancient forces that humble
every self obsessed cry
their shadows to free you
from ego's shackle and tie.

Deserts
I love
ever so quiet
sharp clearness above
red ball agleaming
no hawk and no dove
cosmos and self
inside a fiery glove
dreams of dispersing
that's purity tough.

Though Forests..
true home
lowly branches
my comb
everywhere I can hide
with the deers I can roam
patient trees will grant hold
far from faces of chrome
here I dance and I sing
under the leafy green dome...

About this poem:
I sat down and wrote this after looking at a great artist's website, located here www.stuster.exto.org
I saw heaps of pictures, many it seemed to me having to do with oceans and water, and I pondered that this probably means the artist has a connection with oceans somehow. That inspired me asking myself why I do and do not like certain 'places'. This poem sprang from those thoughts, and it doesn't flow as well as I'd like it to flow, but never mind, I enjoyed writing it anyway ^_^

Two Bells

I woke up this morning
Shot out of bed
Quickly to my knees I fell
I said
Lord do not leave me, Lord do not forsake me....
And I listened but from heaven nothing fell
No words of comfort came to my mind
Nothing, not even a sip of spiritual wine
You see I had just had this awful dream about truth and hell
And about the judgment bell
It played a damning toll
Calling my
Sinful soul
Made me wish that I could flee
But at the end I knew it tolled for me
Hark! was the whispered shout from the angel that sat on my bed
You need to get on bended knees
And ask
The good Lord to forgive you please.
And so I cried out to Him
The only One who can salvation bring
I said
Lord! Oh my Savior and King!
Please forgive me as to the Cross I cling
Holy Spirit stepped in and said to me
Why don't you give your friend a ring?
I dialed the numbers but still doubt said
Ha! He can't help you! And,anyway faith is dead!
My friend answered and when I'd said
What was on my mind,
For me with God he pled...
He sang a song at the end...
A reminder that
Jesus is indeed my Savior for all time.
Now another bell sounds, it is a joyful sound
It says to me
Your salvation is come.

Follow Me

Follow me, sage father
Tempered with the ages
Embodied in a ghost
Never seen
Where lies my hope
Deaf as a post
To all my suffering

Follow me, exalted past
On fields of glory
All honor makes
Never forgetting
The stories told
From turning pages
In recesses of my mind

Follow me, heart pure
Filtered by the ashes
Of all my failures
Cleansed by fire
Escaping no one
Resurrections made
And wounds healed

Follow me, wizened lady
Reading tea leaves
Arranged by nature
At the bottom
Of my cup of fears
Forecast my future
With all its tears

Follow me, natural soul
Who lifts me higher
On tides of hope
Beyond the safety
Of those would hang
Me on a rope
With no remorse

Follow me, immortal mother
Whose love I knew
Born of pleasure
Her seed good measure
From which I grew
Into her treasure
Behold in her eye

three

i take the number three
a star
from birth
three wise men
on the face
the one trinity
holding in one's hand
the golden
gateway to paradise
a crucifix
the key
to heaven

three days
Jonah spent inside
a whale
our body
a temple
split three ways

like the shamrock
a symbol from
our dear St Patrick
God is
the father
our creator

crucified
upon a cross
his son Jesus
on the third day
he rose again
in the Holy grail
according to the scriptures
a blessed spirit

our hearts
the inner voice
speaking
from the soul
i believe
on our third day

the soul rises
higher
meeting one's spirit
walking in limbo
three draws out
a magic number
enlightens me

Embedded image from another site

Accross the plains I see a glimmering light,
Beyond the horizon where the day fades out the night.
The grass is grown from the roots of all my sins,
Beneath the dirt is where my salvation will begin.
There stands a house and its yellowing in mold,
Beside a window is where I sit alone,
The walls are cold and the bricks are falling out,
So you could see inside and I can let it out.
Within these walls is where I call my home,
I'd love to leave this place but I have nowhere else to roam.
If I had wings I would uplift myself and soar,
Up to the heavens ,but this is the only hell I know.

I than looked up to the heavenly sky,
Where temptation burned my wings before I learned to fly.
Again looking up to a new sunny sky,
But thats when my heart got blistered and my mouth tongue twisted and tied.

Night sky

The night sky looms in
like a soft veil
draping over trees along the
trail.
Clouds seem to drift silently
but speak volumes of heavenly tales.
A twinkle of light dances in the night
the air cool blowing from left to right.
Walking delicately to the crunch of stone
it's noise and feel gave a shuddering tone.
Suddenly a flash of light split the dark of night
coming from the crimson sky. A cloud billowed and
fumed and blinded my eye.
I fought to see as I fell clumsily as I scraped my knee.
A voice spoke unto me so soft and whimsically
" Be not afraid I come because you asked me"
I asked, "who thou art that cometh unto me?"
The voice responded rather prominently
" I am the love you seek so diligently"
" The hope of your salvation you pray for endlessly"
I said unto the voice "How do I know for sure that you
are the cure?"
The voice asked "Why do you not trust me? Have ye little faith?
"I am" sent me unto you to bring healing to a world split
in two.
I asked how is that so and tell me what you know?
"Silly fool can you not see the conflict in thee?
Fear, doubt, and shallow words of love fills the air most abundantly"
Consider your brothers and sisters you see, who pen their plea.
Hear their cries their tears fill their eyes.
Yet, none do much to reach out to what their heart may see.
Oh they write their petititions most eloquently and make them
sound very romantically protesting their vanity.
Yet they may dream of many possibilities they do not wish to
try to make it their reality.
Many have lost their way their faith is clouded by the troubles
of the day.
So much pain it's enough to make anyone insane.
Oh per chance to dream again of a simple day
To hear the laughter and joy of children at play
They neither toil or spin they just learn to dance
a different way.
I asked the voice " Won't you please stay and teach me
and others a better way?
The voice replied, "For over 2000 years I have tried
yet few chose to listen. Hence, the time will come
when the last tear they cry they shall open their eyes
come the last day only to see their error of their way.
Lo' I come like a thief in the night in a holy light
many shall be blinded of sight.
Many shall be lifted to the seat at my right Others
will be considering their plight.
