Losing your soul in stormy weather

Losing your soul in stormy weather

We began as one and were seperated at conception
A lifetime spent searching because we believe the deception
Selfless submission is our foundation
Selfish vainful desire spreads from nation to nation
We see no purpose in our creation, only survival, the purpose of evolution
Seperate and divorce call it freedom and we sing revolution
Dog eating dog like a rat devouring a mouse
Each of us throwing stones from our own glass house
We are the children of a carpenter, made to build, not destroy
We play with each others lives like a kid with a shiny new toy
Are we able to rekindle a fading star
From Adam to Atom some say we have evolved far
I do not wish to evolve, I was created perfectly, in the image of my father
Vanity plates, Vanity mirrors, look deeper...why even bother
We bought the book because it had such a beautiful cover bound in leather
If only we had read it before boarding a plane doomed to crash in stormy weather

Recovery

Crystal raindrops form dew on the grassy area nearby
Dancing above the ground the lightning bugs fly
Everything is peaceful with stars filling the night sky
Feel the breeze blowing softly from the angels as they sigh
Granting us a lovely night that no one can deny
He is watching over us, his beauty is in good supply

Can’t you feel the power, as you gaze upon His face
Destiny is calling back the things that have been misplaced
Even reaching out to the lost who have wandered way off base
Fixing what was broken, gently giving back His grace
Guiding home the chosen, letting his steps be retraced
He is watching over us, gathering together the human race

Can you help him; help yourself, by trying just a bit more
Developing good habits, picking yourself up from the floor
Embrace his guidance, stop being a prisoner of this war
Fly lower under the radar, quit trying to slip out the back door
Gather your strength all around you, so you may be restored
He is watching over us, how often though do we choose to ignore

Cocaine and meth, marijuana, LSD and heroin make you fly
Death on a drug, or in a daze, matters not to those who die
Evidence shows, those left behind often don't want to say goodbye
Fighting our feelings, we don't know whether to laugh or to cry
Grieving we do, but how do we stop the problem that underlies
He is watching over us, maybe this time.. in HIM I shall rely

The Beginning

There existed nothing and nothingness existed
Except He who was without beginning and end
He created the heavens and the earth
And He spoke the light into existence
Once spoken there was day and night
Waters above the earth and on the earth
Receding waters leaving land showing
Spoken were the words to bring forth plants
Plants in such amazing abundance
Flying, crawling, running, swimming beasts
All were by Him spoken into being
Only left was man to create, in His image
Into a garden in Eden he was placed
Created was woman, for them to be one
All this world to us was given
Given unto us, for us to care for it

Just wanted to try something totally different. We are not doing a good job as caretakers.

Blind Beggar

Slowly I stir to open my eyes
And still only find blackness
Sounds all around, people movin' on
Please help a blind beggar

This is the spot I always beg
It is here I try to make a living
Hard when you're blind, listening to sounds
I've spent most of my life here

But something is different this day
A buzz of muted excitement
Snatches of voices reach my ears
He's coming, He's coming this miracle worker

Memory dredged from past conversations
Could this be the man, the one called Jesus
A man they say could heal all afflictions
And even manage to raise the dead

The crowd so noisy, so many around
People pushing and shoving
I try to be heard above the noise
But there is no use to my begging

Make way, make way, a loud voice spoke out
Let through my Lord and Master
Please Lord, I cried out loud, have pity
And heal this blind beggar

Fear gripped my heart, I had spoken boldly
I cringed in myself for the kick to follow
Instead hands so soft and gentle
Firmly covered my eyes

My son, He spoke, you are forgiven
In my Father's name you shall be healed
The world burst suddenly into vision
The colours were so bright

Through tears in eyes I looked at this man
This man of humble appearance
And yet I could see with new found eyes
The majesty and splendour

About this poem:
Stayed mostly true to the story with just some slight poetic licence. I know He spat on the ground and placed mud on his eyes but hey...you know

The Gentle Voice

A gentle voice within my soul
It whispers quietly
You are my child, my loved one
In you I am well pleased

How blessed is this voice to hear
And walk this path so righteous
Please grant me strength in all my days
His footsteps to follow

This thing I pray with all my might
That never should I falter
This light within to shine without
And glorify You mighty

don'T SHOOt The MEssenGER

this is what i believe if you please
and i never get down on my knees
but the apostles were all in a huddle
believing Jesus walked on water while he was only standing in a huge puddle
Hey, we are all supposed to be accepting of
other points of view.
My God is the universe

About this poem:
See, i've run out of gods to curse i used to say the Lord's prayer, Holy Mary and Hail Mary, the whole verses of course, three times a day. All of a sudden a rash of little kids are being brutalized, bruised and beheaded, so at the end of the Lord's prayer i would end with the words "and please don't let any little innocents be brutalized today" well, i think we know if that little ditty was answered or not. Instead of throwing a fit, throw me a reason to believe!~free cee!~

Travelling Salvation Show

You're going to hell
Thundered the preacher
Back and forth he paced
His black coat flapping

Preached the word he did
Of fire and brimstone
Shocking was the message
Congregation shook with fear

Choir sang hallelujah
As the sinners came forth
Wanted to receive the Lord
Claiming their salvation

Tent was packed up
At the close of day
Was time to move on
The Travelling Salvation Show

A Beacon For His Glory

Softly she walks by evening light
At peace with the world around her
Words of hope and words of comfort
Gladly does she spread

No thought could enter in her mind
To make you feel less welcome
Nor would she by thought or deed
Do anything to hurt you

A spirit glow upon her face
Reflection of God’s resplendence
I wish that I could be like that
A beacon for His glory

For love of a beetle…

I started out life always stopping to turn a beetle the right way up, whenever I encountered her on her back, legs flailing,
I gave it no thought, I took no credit for it, I unconsciously did it, it just naturally seemed the right thing to do…,
And inside me I had a good feeling when I did that…

I got my first pet, which was a catfish from the river Nile, from our fishmonger, when I was five years old,
I put in a large dish and threw bread in, which it did not eat, then my father advised me to give it earthworms, it did not eat those either, three days later, it just keeled over and went to fish-heaven,
I wept for hours on end…

Life went on,
Then at age ten, a crowd of angry men gathered outside our home and started chanting:-
“…’cmon black brothers, let us drink the blood of the white man…”, referring to me and my family,
We just happened to be Greeks living in Khartoum, Sudan, which was then in the throes of its latest revolution, and whites were fair game,
Thousands of people perished at the hands of mobs purely because of the color of their skin,
My father smuggled us out of the country …

Since then, I noticed that I would vacillate between the peaceful spirit of love to the demonic spirit of hate,
Like a seesaw,
And, I paid with the appropriate Karma…

Now, some fifty years later,
I find I’m still seesawing between times in my life where I help the ‘beetle’ and times when I want to send him to ‘beetle-heaven’,
Thankfully, I have not taken the life of another human being, and I was an avowed non-combatant in the military,
I take no credit for that incredibly fortuitous grace, ‘cause that’s what it was, pure, unadulterated grace from the Source of Love,
And I’m sooo grateful to that source!!!

Today, I intensely feel the humility, I feel the love for the beetle,
But, how will I feel tomorrow?
I know how I want to feel and how I fervently ‘pray and meditate’ that I will feel,
But, as Alcoholics Anonymous says:-
“…I am powerless, and totally dependent on GRACE…”,
So, like a new-born babe, totally helpless and dependent on that GRACE, I go on, wanting to turn the beetle right-way up,
May I always take the time and find it in my heart dear beetle, to stop and gently and lovingly and gratefully turn you the right way up…

In mindfulness…

Prayer

Oh Dear God,
I humbly bow before you.

My heart is trembling in thought,
Cannot sleep at night.

Morning comes by so fast and,
my eyes want to cry.

I ask you here in prayer to,
help me dear Lord to find
my sleep.

Lord I ask you to hold me near
and watch me sleep, so my
nights become nights to day
becomes day, Amen ~~~
