People I've Worked With

There are so many who have come and gone through the years
Some were nice to be around, most were not
I'm super shy, so that sure doesn't help to foster a good time for me
I really wish I had gotten a job long ago where it was just me, myself, and I
But still I have the memories of these people, and that is something
The guy from Hardee's went golfing with me in 1988
The girl from Hardee's went out with me on a date
The girl from d*ck's got me, thank god she wasn't late
The teacher from Cassville made me a meal
The guy from Peru at the cheese plant in Belmont talked about potatoes with zeal
The young man from Fiji at the freezer plant in East Dubuque like my music a lot
The guy from South America at the muffler shop in Mineral Point was nice
The women at Chestnut in Galena were so pretty they would melt January ice
I could talk about the rest who weren't so well
But for now all I can say is...
They can just go to HELL!

Work List of Hired On

2019 7
2018 143
2017 39
2016 21
2015 30
2014 32
2013 29
2012 5
2011 7
2010 2
2009 0
2008 13
2007 47

I started in the years 2007 and 2013 as they had a massive layoff one week before Christmas that year. I left at 13.45, and returned in 2013 starting out at 9.50. I have gone up from there quite a bit. The only problem is that someone starting can make what it took me 12 years to achieve in just their first raise. Not very fair, but I am sure it is like this other places too.

About this poem:
I made a list back in 2015 and 2017, though I couldn't find the data. I am pretty sure the totals have lost a lot from those years as the turnover rate here is very high. We had over 300 come and go in 2007, and another 500 come and go in 2015. I figure over 5000 people have come and gone since 2007.

Milk

It is on it's way
Way cheaper milk coming from Canada
We won't have to pay those sky high prices Wisconsin dairy farmers want
Anything to save a buck or two
Or even three
So what price we will pay for our cheap milk?
The dairy industry is the backbone of many communities in Wisconsin
If they can't sell their milk anymore then all that money will stop flowing
Flowing into restaurants, Catholic schools, businesses of all sorts
It's just another story from our friends who brought us NAFTA
Bush wrote it up and Clinton passed it
Perot tried to stop it
He said you will hear a giant sucking sound going south
Well, it looks like there is going to be another giant sucking sound
This one will be going north!
To Canada!

About this poem:
I am really dreading all this crap with hard working people getting the shaft again and again and again. I've done some farm work in my past. These people really work their butts off to keep us all well fed.

What I heard

So you f@#$ed it up again!
Did you hear? A guy turned blue from an overdose!
A guy the color of your shirt threatened to kill the third shift manager
I got it fixed, now it's making me look like a liar
I haven't seen you go to the bathroom or get a drink today
How is your day going? I got the belts broke
Any body have any questions?

Ghoul Bus

I had this dream the other night
I was on this road and this bus pulled up
Come on board the decomposing bus driver said
So on I went with all the other ghoulish people
Some were mere skeletons
While others looked just like me
Still without rotting flesh
So the bus quickly became overcrowded
As more and more decomposing and not so much decomposing ghouls
Got on board
The bus would let you get off if you were still alive
As I was
So I got off this bus of death and rotting flesh
So i thought where did this dream come from?
Then the next day I saw the bus carrying the ghouls from Janesville
The ones who had threatened murder at my work place
Then it made sense to me

Super Bowl Commercial

It can be hard to know when you need a new job
As a rule if you hate going to work every day
It may be time
If you hate going to work every day
And your coworkers don't respect you
It may be time
If you hate going to work every day, your coworkers don't respect you
And you wish you were somewhere else
It may be time
If you hate going to work every day, your coworkers don't respect you
You wish you were somewhere else
And you cry constantly
It may be time
If you hate going to work every day, your coworkers don't respect you
You wish you were somewhere else, you cry constantly
And you daydream of punching small animals
It may be time
If you hate going to work every day, your coworkers don't respect you
You wish you were somewhere else, you cry constantly
You daydream of punching small animals
And you sit next to this guy
It may be time
If you make loads of money
It may not be time
But if you make loads of money, you hate going to work
No one respects you
You wish you were some where else
You cry constantly
You daydream of punching small animals
And you sit next to this guy
It's probably time
As a rule

About this poem:
We have about 427 employees and around 50 temporary employees, so almost 500 people that work here. The temp pay when I started in 2007 was 10.50, then when I came back in 2013 it was 9.50. Now it is 13 for temps.

Music In A Black Case

I got some music CD's today from a coworker at work
He had been promising me this music for about five years
I was very surprised when he gave it to me
I went through the music to find what to keep
All the while smelling cigarettes
The one case was made out of leather
Leather must really hold smoke smell well
Because this thing had not seen any smoke for over five years
Yet it smelled of cigarettes like it had been yesterday
I took what I wanted and donated that smelly case to Goodwill
Maybe a smoker will find it's smell dreamy

About this poem:
There was some good music in both cases, the other one didn't smell as much as it was made out of a non-leather material.

Hot

I wonder what temperature the CEO of our company has where he works?
Could it be the 500,000 dollars it would take to air condition our work place
Instead goes to his air conditioned office, car, yacht, truck, and swimming pool
Instead of a cool and comfortable temperature, we get Gatorade
I wonder how many factories have similar stories to tell about how hot it is
Or better yet, how many can really say they work in air conditioning
Or have a fan blowing on them at least?
This corporate greed just keeps right on rolling over good people
So a few fat cats can delight in the misery they create
Is is wrong to wish some of that misery back on them?
Of course it is, but I do find myself fantasizing
About what will happen to them when they die
Will they see the light and treat their workers with dignity
Or will they just donate some of their stolen cash to some church?
Is it better to kiss God's large fanny or people down here on planet earth?
I guess tomarrow will answer that question once again!
