Music

I love all kinds of music
It has helped me through the years
getting me through some hard times
and has cleared away my tears
from classical to heavy metal
I have time for all
for when you pump it loud enough
you can really have a ball
Music has done so much for me
through sickness or when alone
I pretend that sometimes i'm the one
thats singing on the microphone
or maybe a little air guitar never goes astray
the reason I said air guitar
you wouldn't pay to hear me play
So i will leave it to the professionals
for I think it's best for all
I am better at being D.J.
to get the people on the floor

Depressed Factory Worker

Every day I go to work it gets worse
Always worse
The boss yells at me
I ask why do you yell at me
He says because I like to yell
I work on factory next to criminals
One is on work release for driving drunk
One is on work release for selling crack
One is on work release for selling pot
I do have women working there
One knocked out my coworker for grabbing her
So he wakes up and she quits
Another one look like vampire who wants to bite me on the neck
My boss looks like Saddam Hussain
Did he shave off his mustache and go on Jenny Craig?
The heat and the stress are unbelievable
One guy fell down on the ground from heart attack
Another guy committed suicide
Two other guys died in auto wreck after working seven days a week
For months on end
I ask my coworker who was in Iraq if this place is better
He says to me
I would rather be in Iraq than be here
It is less stressful

About this poem:
Believe it or not, this is actually true. These things did actually happen at a job I had back in 2007-2008. I did get some nice golf balls and an unbrella though.

some afternoon dream

the day drones on humming like
the monotone of a tuning fork
a clock ticks slow somewhere
that clocks still actually tick
and the afternoon scrapes on
without a grease of a care

let's get to the end of it
i feel so cubed in here behind
drab business fabric walls
that time discretely slices
a million light years apart

contemplate the time and wait
for the workday to terminate
if only for today so i can
release my soul to the air
flying my sonic imagination

high away from procedures
and scintilla of policies
through canyons of colors
to rise like leavened bread
and grow into something holy

there is much of life's water
slipping past my boat, spoons,
buckets, oceans of life, of days
with names that i don't know
that somehow feel my presence

i run to the ramparts of the day
jump over the stones and flee
a spirited dash to the forest
my chains clanking in the dirt
a melodious tinkling sound

A Franklin and a Lincoln

A Franklin and a Lincoln
That's the money I had extra over a year ago
Benjamin Franklin equals 100 dollars
Abraham Lincoln equals five dollars
Some people are still waiting to get hired on
They don't get the extra money I do
They deserve to have a Benjamin and a Franklin too
There are a lot of people out there not getting a fair shake
They are let go with no fault of their own
They have to start over again and again as companies play their games
If we keep an employee on too long it will cost us a lot of money
If we can keep hiring new employees then we will make a pile
Where does all this money go?
Who is cashing in at the expense of these poor souls?
So I made some extra money
Big deal
I missed my rest
I missed my video gaming and dvd watching
I missed my peace and quiet
All for a Franklin and a Lincoln

About this poem:
Worked another mandatory overtime day today. I would much rather just put in my forty and be done with it. Actually I rather win the lottery and not have to put up with it at all.

only a look

only a look
only a glance
the music played
and soon they would dance
love can come
in unexpectedly

and it is so
that you never know
when you dont expect
love will arrive
only a look
and only a glance

"Throwing my Pitch"

I'm up at dawn and the mental gears are engaged,
the day will be long, my schedules been staged.

I've loaded my gear, trailer's ready to roll,
When sun dial hits 7:00, tis my cue to go.

Today is mowing, weed-eating, trimming and blowing
discarded leaves from trees that have been sowing.

Flower beds, homes and yards needing TLC,
assigned by their owners trustingly to me.

Like unmade beds and left over dirty dishes,
where a maid is hired to fulfill their wishes.

My services are rendered in the same intended way
to improve that which is neglected day after day.

The gift of good health to do all my work,
is a blessing from God, and not just a quirk.

To have this job at a time of economic strife,
Pleases me well, but I'd also like a wife!

I've no time to test the waters, to seek, to search
for a beautiful young gal to go with me to church.

So it's here to this site that I turn my attention
to publicly announce that I'm seeking her affection.

I'm a hard worker, fit, reliable and strong,
but to no-one that I'm in love with, do I belong.

'RICH' - I'm NOT!, (but neither am I shamefully poor),
Debt free I am, and 'DEBT' is something I want - NO MORE!

So excuse the attempt I've thrown out in poetic form,
to introduce myself as being available for your charm.

If preferences can be mentioned without insult or pain,
tis a younger, dark haired, slender beauty I hope to gain!

"OK ladies, your turn - I'm waiting!" :-)

and the words live on

luxuriating on the bright lit screen
see what write was wrought upon
for us to ponder points of plenty
words of wisdom from worlds beyond

all those thoughts from savage minds
enlightened visionaries, weird lines
of love and death and more love
to grip around my waist or throat

feel words breathing hard, panting
as they crawl up the leg, imploring
and incessantly slip into outer ear
to shout into tunneled mind

you feel my pain, depression, it says
as i walk into battle or cold river
drowning in human feelings too heavy
to flight the air of day's hope

did the dogs write the words down
and chimps peck at the typewriters
while parrots chirp cawed letters
telling the history of being human

no, it was the humanity in each of us
that took the time to scratch and peck
the farmyard of life, rich-scented
with desire to explain ourselves, us

indebted, we begrudgingly acknowledge
we couldn't have said it any better
though most cases can't be said at all
yet writers write and singers sing

always efforted, affronted, afflicted
with the need to explain what it is
to explain how we got here as if we
weren't even riding the same road

thumbs out, thumbs up! well done
you chronicler of timelined humanity
read your thoughts now to me aloud
sing your songs of woe and praise

Frozen

I saw this movie
Its name was Frozen
It really scared me you see
It is about the job I work
The worst thing you could do
Is leave someone up on the chairlift after you close
I think that it is a slacker job
Unless you work at the bottom
Those guys really earn their pay
I sit at the top and eat junk food all day
We get free pop, free cocoa too
I make 8.25 an hour
7.20 an hour after taxes
I spend 9 bucks in gas to get there
70 miles of driving that takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes
This is the best part of this job
I love to listen to music
Lady Gaga, 80's music, Black Eyed Peas
Did you see them on the SuperBowl?
So if you want to see a good movie to scare you good
See Frozen
Then go skiing right afterward!

Simpler Times..

I can still see my Grandmother in her old faded housedress
bent over the old wringer washer
lifting out piece by piece, each garment,
and running it through the wringer,
of her new washing machine..
Down in the musty cellar
Times were so much simpler then..
Folks were grateful then, for the little simplicities in life,
Which seemed to make life easier...
Now everything is rush rush and I just don't have the time...
No time to simply throw the clothes in the machine,
And toss them in the dryer...
Isn't it funny, how spoiled we've become..
Not as if we have to wash them on a rock at the river..
Now we rush off to the gym where we think we need to get our exercise..
Whatever happened, to everyday tasks, like cutting the grass, weeding the garden,
It used to be enough to keep us in shape...
Whatever happened to toiling away in the kitchen, to make a home cooked meal..
Instead of driving through the drive-thru..
Maybe if we all went back to a simpler time..
We'd be happier and healthier, and appreciate all that we have now..
Just a thought.. let's walk.. not run.

I Got Off Work Early

I got off work early
It was such a nice early Christmas present
45 minutes to myself
Where I won't have to work like an elf
I sang We Are Young by Fun three times in my car
I drank two Mt. Dews cause 21.5 miles is far
When you don't have your sleep
You spend most of the day at work trying not to weep
I played on the computer because I could
I listened to a Republican speech by Clint Eastwood
I listened to Will Ferrell getting yelled at by a little girl
She wanted her rent
Will hadn't put money away like nuts to a squirrel
Money is nice
But is has it's price
You can spend your time making money
Or spend your money making time
In the end it isn't worth the dime
Give me my day off so I can rest
This place feels like a hornet's nest
And I'm tired of getting stung

I am looking forward to November 23 and November 28-December 1 when I will get some good time to myself away from work. Today was nicer than others since I got to leave at 2:15 instead of 3 pm.
