the lumbar yard

he goes down to the stacks
asking the captain where's
the air-dried, 'cause he knows
the kiln can warp a hard bored

he wants to build something
lasting and strong with rich
lines and scents, a few nots
for beauty, knot to weaken

his notion of what wood matter
to a careful carpenter, shaven
and blocked, straight and strong
the living would, the livin' wood

plane grain, a fine saw to see
edge to end he's got it pegged
cut it out, measure for measure
clamp on tight, she'll last

back to eyein' straight and true
the best the forest offered green
strength takes time, seasoning
and worm holes add character

he picks the best for intents
and leaves the warped to sun
knowing when she's home, back
he'll have something to build

Palate Pleaser

Love at first bite,
What a scrumptious delight.

Tastebuds sing as never before,
Euphoria flowing from every pore.

The finest, yes, the very best.
Dull and tasteless all the rest.

Spiced just right, sweet and tart.
A taste that thrills my pounding heart.

How glowing this epiphany
And now there's nothing else for me.

Morning

I grind the beans and brew a pot.
Ah, the aroma's heavenly.
Sun is rising through the trees,
The morning dew bedazzles me.

Farm fresh brown egss from free range hens,
I get them from a friend down south.
With yolks so bright and yellow that,
Look so inviting to my mouth.

My whole wheat toast comes popping up,
Fresh butter makes it savory.
An egg on each upon the plate,
Their sunny sides smile up at me.

Whole peppercorns ground all around.
Sea salt is sprinkled on the top,
The fork's first pierce begins the flow,
A bite of white and toast to sop.

Devouring this tasty treat,
Takes hardly any time at all.
The dishes washed and kitchen's neat
There's work to do, no time to stall.

In trying times these small delights,
Can get you started on the right.
To start your day in morning light,
And last you til you're home at night.

A Delicate Pour

sinking particles
some spitting to the depths
where they shall dance
and yet cling in the heat

to but tempt and arouse the flavour
like a sensuous kiss

then once no weight upon

the resurrection begins
to be delicately stirred and moved

the finale'

as the feast is placed
then and only then
the sinking particles that sat so deep
are finally poured

oh you sexy coating!
you seek out those
that wish to partake

Yes please....

An Ode to Chocolate

Smooth, creamy, dark, milky.
Standing there salivating,
in front of the displays.

This one has chopped nuts,
that one has a hint of orange.
Unique, peppery infusion.

Samples out on little trays.
Just one little taste,
Well maybe another, so tempting.

Drooling, eyes aglow.
Which to choose, the smooth,
or the crunchy, the choices!

I'll settle for the one,
in the wrapper right there.
Dark, bittersweet and scintillating!

Chocolate!

late night pizza

the late night pizza shop smells
of warm yeasty chefs who deliver
with floured faces the buxom tomatoes
their aprons splattered with hunger

plain cheese or extra toppings?
the shouts and back-end radio
add ambiance to surround pangs
to have dessert toppings later

the pepperoni is hard and spicy
red or white sauce, extra sauce?
do you like it thin or thick?
hot sausage or sweet with that?

easily it comes hot 'n fresh
with steam rising to rush in
aromas encircled with anticipation
pickup or do you want delivery?

A TIME FOR ALL MANKIND

THERE IS A TIME FOR LIVING; AND A TIME FOR GIVING; AND A TIME FOR ALL MANKIND! I HOPE, MOST OF US, GO THRU LIFE; CARING, AND SHARING; BUT I KNOW, SOME PEOPLE, GO THRU LIFE; BLIND! I FOR ONE, PUT ANIMALS AND PEOPLE, FIRST; MAKING SURE, ALL WHO ENTER MY DOOR, ARE NOURISHED, AND DO NOT CRY OUT; FOR LACK OF THIRST! I HELP OUT IN SOUP KITCHENS; AND BY MY OWN, ADMISSIONS; HOPE THE DAY WILL COME, WHEN I CAN DO, SO MUCH MORE! I LIVE FOR THE TIME, WHEN I CAN BE, ANOTHER, GATES; AND MAKE SURE; ALL MANKIND, GOES THRU LIFE; WITH FULL PLATES!

The most precious gift

When my time is up and I'm ready to go
To a place no one can find
I'll take my chance to cast a last glance
At the past I leave behind.

I hope to see a fine mosaic
Of a million shapes and colours
Each shape, an experience
Each colour, avid valour.

I hope to hear a symphony
By the Angels heavenly choir
Each melody, an emotion
Each chorus fulfilled desire.

I hope to smell a potpourri
Of exquisite fragrances
The scent of love I'll keep with me
As my everlasting essence.

I hope to taste the moist air
While my last breath subsists
For all the sweetness will be there
Of the most beautiful lips I've kissed.

I hope to feel my last heartbeat
Fill with gratefulness run rife
For the most precious gift I have received
The gift that was my life.

"The Sum"

Stripped inside the square I stood
dumbfounded'

with frozen gaze
Totally grounded

What one line lay so weak?

Shall a triangle emerge
is, that what I seek

What formula do I see
within the equation

Which sum do I use
to celebrate the formation

From all that of, the mathematicians
more shall be learn't
with wondrus suspicion

Tangling crosses
divisions and equals
I so awaited the deep dark sequels

The key that lay
so out of touch
was a genuine thought
I wanted so much

One day without me knowing
all come to me
and much much more

It was
for all my wanting
and all that was stored

Can one not love from many scenes
i think yes
from all that it means

Logic can be a hidden trait
because unless we know

such an easy way

we all my take
