You are my smile when I feel down.
You are my company when nobody is around.
You are my laugh when I want to cry.
You are my strength when I want to die.
You are my medicine when I'm unwell.
You are my secret keeper when I have something to tell.
You are my cushion when I need to rest my head.
You are my saviour when my hope is dead.
You are my eyes when I can't see.
You are my ears because you listen to me.
All of this stuff makes you my best friend.
I hope this is how it stays until my end.
When you feel there's nobody to do this for you,
Please contact me because I'm your friend too.

I miss you my son, you're everything to me,
but I'll always be here, over time you will see.
I am you're daddy and I love you lots.
Being away from you has tied me in knots.
I really do hate it when you are not near.
To add to this I'm struggling with my fear.
I'm scared you'll be hurt during a fight.
I'm scared the dog will turn and give you a bite.
I'm scared I won't be there whenever you're sad.
I know you have mum but you really need dad.
You are number one in my life.
You are the one I want to keep from the strife.
I really hate it when you aren't with me,
because you are my son and I'm your Daddy.

My face is a map
That traces, so accurately
The journey
Of my life
Like old roads
Carved out of hope
Trying to lead somewhere
Now tired and worn
Always remaining
Beyond repair
Fading into the past
Before the journey
Had barely travelled
Lightly trodden paths
Often fondly remembered
For that one single moment
When they crossed
Each other’s destiny
They left such little trace
But measured together
Provide so many memories
Of long lost desires
The ravines of past loves
So very deep
Etched from sadness
As ever growing rifts
Drifting further apart
Wrenched from pain
And scarred with sorrow
With impassable rivers
Born of tears
That had bled
From eyes
That had seen
Futility
But hope
Is an emotion
Where desires
Can see further
Than futility
For this map
Has one last space
To be fulfilled
And complete
The journey of life
And when that final river
Crosses my face
And flows
Into nothingness
All I will ever know
Is it will never
Be as deep
As yours

About this poem:
At my age this is fairly accurate. I am on a sabbatical from my novel because I need to write some new poetry, not much, but one now and again to refresh my warped mind.

Dear Friend,
Stand Tall and Proud
Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of a greater source
Think long term
Go out on a limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance
The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go of leaves in the Fall
The Rest and Quiet Renewal of Winter
Feel the wind and the sun
And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of the stars at night.
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasures
Earth, fresh air, light
Be content with your natural beauty
Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs sway and dance in the breezes
Be flexible
Remember your roots
Enjoy the view!

Dreams of love eternal
Recorded in a journal.
Loved you from first glance
Deeper after our first dance.
Tumbled head over heals at first
From drought passion and thirst.
Thought I would always love you
Forever happy, never blue,
Yet here I am feelings not the same.
There ought to be thunder and rain.
The thrill is gone
Did not take long.
Love slipping, slipping away
Loving you a little less each day.
No one’s to blame just the way it goes
Possible prevention I suppose.
Yet could we have gone a different a route?
Unfortunately we were are not that astute.
Predicting future outcome
Dancing to a different drum.
Along the way wiped out once or twice
Now in the end I pay the price.
Lied to myself, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps?
Still now I will not collapse.
I’m cool toward you to day
Fallen like a failed soufflé.
Loving feelings turn dour and fade
Cool glass of unsweetened lemonade.
Where did the warm feelings go?
Really I don’t know.
Your voice no longer my heart melts
Would last forever I felt.
When did that cease?
That time in Greece?
Love slipping away
By the hour, by the day.
Fading into the mist
Time to cross you off my list.
Falling in, climbing out
Surviving alone no doubt.
Instead of hurting to the bone,
Petrified to be alone.
Upright, erect standing tall
Like Goliath waiting for the call.
Crash and burn
Is how we learn.
Life too I suppose
But who really knows.
Tis sad but true
I say good-bye to you.
Stupid in love no more
Lock and close that door.

Knock knock... it's 'Pain'
undesired and devoid of humane
If you don't know me you will
I'm impossible not to feel
From me nothing can hide
in me all inevitably reside
Often suicides the only mend
like time I'm til the end
Like evil I perpetually lurk
eagerly awaiting next poor jerk
I'm especially significant with love
there I shine at the end of
That's right I'm PAIN
the epitome of VAIN
My relevance nothing can top
shattering lives I'll never Stop
Like life I'm completely unfair
we both conducive to despair
Like a dreaded terminal disease
I'll have you begging "Please"
Never think it's me you'll lack
when least expected "I'll be back"

America preaches world should follow their lead
people worldwide beseech our 'freedom' indeed
Our forefathers Constitution was brilliantly done
"We The People" defines Nation of one
Fallacious was 'Equality' and 'Justice for All'
in no country could that ever befall
Dreams of a free society came true
every freedom gov't often denies you
Americas' forced poverty behind rife despair
leaders HATE having to pretend to care
"God Bless America"...last words politicians say
they covet only power and prestige everyday
Please tone down the America's so Great
political correctness a disease born from hate
America deemed the melting pot of Earth
this reality has diminished American citizens worth
Mass diversity bound to bring about unrest
imbecilic ideology behind massive failed test
Patriots will mend Lady Americas' heart
A 'United States' divided inevitable from start

Another day fades into the past
shorter and shorter they seem to last
Each tick of time becomes history
where it goes forever a mystery
Another day quickly becomes yesterday
from final destiny no getting away
Tomorrow's bound to turn into today
one day forever could go away
Another day always reaches tomorrow
time we can only borrow
Future brings about 'another day'
it's always been that way
Each day's Twenty-Four hours from it's end
like every human life they're only on lend

When looking into a mirror
what exactly do you see?
A reflection of disappointment
or person you wanted to be
When words are uttered from your lips
do they come out truthfully spoken?
Or are they mostly less than true
because belief in honesty is broken
When you search your soul
has doubt and fear taken control
Or is it inundated with faith and hope
which is sorely needed just to cope
Mirrors only reveal one's exterior
in that you can't put all your trust
What truly matters is the interior
a righteous heart is a must

When fed up you just wanna throw up your hands
question how much longer you can face life's demands
When so distraught it's arduous getting out of bed
even when wide awake you still feel dead
When anxiety is so overwhelming you wanna scream
your nightmarish life isn't simply some bad dream
When feeling so insignificant you wouldn't be missed
past sick of being screwed before getting kissed
When demons persist you ponder if it's time to quit
desire in every capacity has vanished bit by bit
When suicide infiltrates your thoughts keep them at bay
after reaching your last thread of hope 'Don't Give Way'!
