My mother was, shall we say very fond of beer and other fermented and distilled liquids. She was very religious, that is to say she always made me go to church on Sundays. She also enrolled me in "Religious Instruction" which meant I had to leave school an hour early on Thursdays and walk 3 blocks to a church and attend a class about the bible, learn prayers etc in prep for receiving "Confirmation". I was told I would become a "Soldier of God" My excitement was short lived however when I was told this didn't involve carrying a gun.:( One Sunday when I was 13 my mother gave me about 45 cents to put in the collection basket and sent me off to church. Nothing unusual about that except on this day when I got to the church I remember standing at the front of the church looking at the 2 huge solid wooden doors which had to be at least 8 feet tall and about 3" thick with polished brass hinges and doorknobs. For some reason I thought "I wonder what these doors cost?" How many times would one have to deposit 45 cents into the basket to pay for just one of these doors? I thought about what I could do with the coins my mother gave me. Finally I turned to me left and walked to the corner, made a right and headed to the movies. That was the last time I ever even came close to going into a church (Barring attending a few weddings). I think my mother felt that by sending me and my brother to church it would somehow earn her an invite into Heaven in spite of the fact that she hardly ever set foot in church.
I've been of the opinion that people who were regular viewers of "The Apprentice" probably voted for him because they were accustomed to seeing him in a position of power. I even thought about creating a poll asking the obvious question. I didn't, because I doubted I would get honest answers. It's a sad state of affairs that people today think that TV is an accurate reflection of real life. Guess what? IT ISN'T!
I can see the equivalent of a NASCAR race whenever I want. All I have to do is walk about 150 yards to the interstate overpass and watch the cars go straight up the highway single file. It's actually more interesting at times because there's often a tractor trailer in the middle of the pack.

And if the supply goes down the demand goes up? That is ridiculous. Price is a product of supply & demand. As the relationship between supply & demand changes the price goes up or down. Supply does not determine demand. You claim to have a BS in economics, well we all know what BS stands for.
Trump is apparently only thinking of this upcoming election and he's obviously trying to stack the deck in his favor by dumping 15 Million barrels of oil on the market which even an idiot like him knows will cause the already falling pump price of gas to fall even faster and further. This will make him look like a hero to the motoring public who he hopes will vote for him for a second term.
@Unfazed, I have Satellite TV but in June 2018 I bought an Omni TV antenna to put on the roof of my house. I get 29 channels and it's free. Of course I don't get HBO or other premium channels and I can't get many of the channels I get from Direct TV. My plan was to get the antenna and if t was satisfactory, cancel my acct with Direct TV. I called them to cancel my acct and they made me a deal I couldn't refuse so I decided to keep them so now I have both. Try this link to see what channels are available in your area.
I thought this blog was about Rush Limbaugh. It seems to have drifted into Trumps SOTU speech. Although I'm a hard core Democrat I was sorry to hear about Rush Limbaughs Lung Cancer diagnosis. I can only imagine what he's going through. I never much cared for Limbaugh, and I don't agree with most of his politics, but I truly feel sad for the situation he is in right now. I wouldn't wish this on anybody. I sincerely hope his treatments are successful and he makes a full recovery.
It's no surprise that the would be Dictator would love to remain in power for the rest of his life, he as much as said so. I hope the American people are smart enough to not let what happened in Germany during the 1930's be repeated here in this country. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Jim, I assume your Q is for me? I actually made deliveries to womens prisons, it wasn't as exciting as one might think. The women inmates were all convicted felons you would be wise to give a wide berth to.
Several years ago when I was still trucking for a living I had a route which involved delivering commissary (snacks, cigarettes, etc) to prisons in the area. One of my deliveries was to Sing Sing up in Ossining NY. When I got there I had to stop at the guard tower at the entrance and a guard in the tower lowered a basket on a rope and I put the POD (Proof of Delivery) in the basket. After he was satisfied I was legit, he opened the gate and I was allowed to go to the loading dock to make my delivery.
