You're correct to say that stress weakens the immune system - but people most die of opportunistic infections that gain entry past that deficient immune system (gatekeeper) While people with cancer and heart conditions etc do die the 'final blow' is very often an infection ( often pneumonia ) which 'finishes them off.
There will be no 'effective vaccine for covid or other flu like virus - they adapt (for their own survival) and as 'simple organisms' can adapt very quickly.
Humans - being multi cellular and multi organ - cannot adapt anywhere near so fast. Pharma meds demonstrate this very well - even the 'finest' medicines often have side effects on organs / systems other than the one they are targetted to treat. Science does not, likely never will have, the capacity to consider all permutations of organic life forms !
