RE: Age Gap

Nothing ...

Unless her Teddy Bear is struck by lightning and becomes incarnate ... but even then that would 'be reasonable grounds for concern' rather than actual 'fear'

Who can tell me "What is 2+2 ?"

Typical Ozzie bloke ... jumps to a conclusion which he expects to the right one without considering 99% of the material the question was based upon !

;-)

Have a tube of the amber nectar Bruce ... it's about 19 years past expiry date but it's near frozen so you'll not have to taste it

Welcome to the Threads ... here's hoping yer more Aussie Outback than Metro ... I can't handle weepy blokes !!!

Who can tell me "What is 2+2 ?"

I gave it up years ago ... I was teaching in tech college (trade school)

1) One Monday I was 'spoken to' and informed that I was not allowed to exert discipline by putting a disruptive asshat out of the class !

" Why not " says I

"Well, if he tells his employer he was put out ie denied an education, then his employer will not send him here next term and we lose a fee?" says the head of dept

"Really" says I

"Yes Really ..."

"Gotcha " say I

"Good " sez he "I knew you'd understand

"Yes of course ... it's just that IF I'M not allowed reasonable tools to maintain classroom discipline THEN YOU can expect 27 letters of complaint because I;m going back after lunch and telling the rest of the class to tell their employers that they are all being denied an education because you won't allow me to deal with one disruptive asshat"

HoD turned a peculiar colour, made gasping choking noises, staggered back to his office and wasn't seen for the rest of the week!

2) Spoken to again after failing an entire evening class group, bar one, for presenting woefully inadequate work related to a professional management body exam ...
" What you've failed to grasp Hex is that the essence of your job is NOT to be critical of the work those people present but rather your place is to justify how the work they produce meets the course requirements ..." sez my mate the HoD
"I'd struggle with justifying how less than 1,000 words can possibly even begin to justify the requirements of a paer that demands 5000 min to 5500 max" sez me with a pained expression (already knowing what was coming as I'd been tipped off before going in to see him!
"Oh, well, perhaps you could praise the student for his excellent command of the subject, his precise language and his economy of words..." sez HoD looking as proud as Punch.
" I see ..." and he interrupted me
" Yes, I knew you would Hex ... is there anything else we need to discuss here ?" HoD
"Two things if I may ... the first is that as a Fellow of the Institute I'm not going to be responsible for conspiring with you, or in any other way contribute to a decline of the professional standing of the Institute and second, you can have my resignation ... I've had a bellyful of you n your cr*p... "

Who can tell me "What is 2+2 ?"

Oi you ... how did you get hold of that pic of my gal friend Melonie !!!!

cheers

RE: What do people remember the most about you after they first meet you?

My thoughts exactly ...

RE: Canadian Problems

Aye, you can see it happening ... and the kids dressed up as gnomes n pixies!

Dressing up went down like a lead ballon in India, I dunno that the Irish would enjoy being mocked any more then the Indians did.

There's a visit to Switzerlan planned ... I can hear his yoodel practice sessions ... or is it next door's two cats fighting ?

RE: Who is the Shyest CS Member

It has to a tie ... dead heat between Galrads and Pedro ... no one else seems to have 'seen the irony' here !

RE: A type of medicine ....!!!

Aye, and then yer wishing you'd gone to specsavers ...instead of the pub !!!

RE: Should the United States Marine Corp recruit at high schools during peace time?

Have a look at GW Bush 'No Child Left Behind Act'

You might be surprised that military were given access to all school records under that legislation ...

Who can tell me "What is 2+2 ?"

Well ?

Lol I was more referring to the rest of the season's stock ... apparently there's a warehouse full going begging !

Seems there's few know about this topic ...

Come's down to The Basic Principles of Life ... everyone's the same at heart

Just like the wild beasts, you want your own autonomy.

You want freedom.

You want freedom from negative emotion.

You want freedom from somebody telling you what to do.

Whether you are consciously aware of it or not — what all of you want is a sense of Well-being

Doesn't matter even whether, or, which flag you wrap yourself for the duration of this lifespan ...

RE: Gum Control

As above, plus it sticks to chews, clothing, gets or gets put into hair ...

It's completely banned in Singapore and some other places for the menaces created by discarded residues!

RE: What Time Is The Apocalypse?

No, like Bhagavad Gita and all of the other great historical books, dull as dishwater !

As the saying goes
'You can leave water for a horse, you can't force the horse to drink the water'

RE: Tickets

Not sure if any of the 'authentic' national lotteries can be played from outside of their own boundaries Ali.

I guess it would discourage locals if they were to see money flowing overseas, and people's 'home country' govts would object to the outflow of cash on gambling overseas ?

And, thinking aloud, there might also be cultural / religious issues - some countries do not allow gambling at all?

RE: How much are you paying for Diesel fuel at the pump where you live?

NZ$1,47 per litre ... which looks cheap until you realise diesel road vehicle owners also pay RUC (Road User Charges) for each Km driven

Not more than 3.5 tonnes 62
More than 3.5 tonnes and not more than 6 tonnes 68
More than 6 tonnes and not more than 9 tonnes 138
Any RUC weight more than 9 tonnes 291

Given that increasing weight (up to 44 tonnes) produces an exponential increase in both damage to roads and severity of accidents it's easy to see that the Road Transport Industry holds a lot of power !
