RE: Would the World be more peaceful without as much of the USA throughout it?

Not 'blaming you three' at all, leastways not personally ... but it's a matter of recorded historical fact that Eisenhower DID warn the American people very clearly and 'You The People' did not heed those warnings ...

Killary was not, has not and probably even never will be held to account ... OK, tell me who's responsible for THAT state of affairs?

Some do ... they keep on saying same things?

Yesterday is history ... tomorrows a mystery ... that's while now is called the present, best to live in it, though it's smart to recall the LESSONS that were hard won ?

RE: Observing how a person interacts with others on CS is a good way to see what kind of person you are

I've never attempted to judge 'good or bad' in the case of human beings.

My core beliefs include that 'man is good ... just sometimes he or she doesn't behave well'

Doesn't make them bad people !

Very often, when the emotions die down ... and that can take a long time between two people, and even longer when 'national pride' is involved they get to realise they're not so different.

I don't hold any strong 'political views' myself ... I look at any situation and am guided by ethical principles ... when Party A are behaving badly I'll raise that, likewise parties B, C, D, E or F etc.

Just think ... how well we could ALL live if our taxes weren't being blown on massive weapon systems that will probably never be used ?

(LouLou will be chasing you about that teddy bear ... sigh ... said with a grin! )

RE: Observing how a person interacts with others on CS is a good way to see what kind of person you are

I could do many things ... but a teddybear or two ... they say a picture paints a thousand words

;-)

(note, absence of teddybears ... on this occasion wine )

Oh, maybe you were savaged by a teddy bear in a previous life ... (treat that with the humour it's sent with, please! )

RE: Observing how a person interacts with others on CS is a good way to see what kind of person you are

Generally speaking 'People (Person A) will like people who are like themselves and even then, only to the exact degree that they ARE like themselves'

This makes it easy to dislike anyone - and again - that's to the exact degree that Person A disagree with them.

But the ability to debate anything squarely depends surely on the ability of both sides to be objective, to 'deal with facts, with the actuality of any given situation or topic' ?

Seems to happen very rarely on here ... it tends to get all very emotional and fraught much / most of the time!

Already this week I've been called a Russian troll by one of the intellectually challenged, and another who admits in their post that they don't like me has conceded that I 'made a number of good points'.

One thumbs up One thumbs down

 should I be concerned about being liked, or about being truthful ?

RE: Would the World be more peaceful without as much of the USA throughout it?

That's the sort of moronic response I've come to expect from raph and others of the Brain Dead Class.

You - ought to be properly ashamed of yourself.

The remark screams to the entire world not only that you're completely ignorant concerning Fentanyl.

That's despite the fact that it kills and / or injures hundreds of US police officers and emergency responders each year and

Given I've provided links to that widely reported fact, it demonstrates your unwillingness to engage with reality, to deal with and consider actual facts when they are placed in front of you.

Not to mention your reliance on Hollywood glamour rather than reading some reliable sources for your historical data ...

RE: Would the World be more peaceful without as much of the USA throughout it?

Nonsense - the first of those nations created 'empires' by forcing their rule on other nations in the periods of their 'global supremacy' and over time ALL of them failed ... such is the nature of empire building - works for a while if the 'Emperor is wise' but falls apart or is 'self destructed' when the wisdom passes.

The US Empire is different - it was built using 'dark strategies' ie having others fight the wars and backing (often) both sides with armaments and / or hiring mercenaries as proxies to do their dirty work ... contractors like Blackwater (under whatever pretty corporate name they use now) and others.

So, what if your neighbours are bickering do you strep in and get the whole town involved?

That's what the US Govt have done ... they stir up 'local fights' and then demand that their international partners get involved and bear some of the costs.

What about the price those nations pay where you go in to 'impose peace' huh ?

How many dead in Vietnam

How many dead in former Yugoslavia

How many dead in Afghanistan

How many dead in Iraq

How many dead in Syria

How many dead in Columbia and all the other places you went in to 'solve problems' ?

And then how many trillions have the US charged them for rebuilding that which they wrecked by bombing ... it's a very profitable game ... just so long as you keep The Game in other people's countries

sigh

As for Russia and China ... fire away, lets see the list of nations they have breached the sovereignty of since WW2

Be imaginative on that one ... because you'll have to!

RE: Would the World be more peaceful without as much of the USA throughout it?

Dictionary : Housing - homes, houses, places of residence, buildings; accommodation, living quarters; formaldwellings, dwelling places, habitations, abodes, domiciles

" In 2017, over 553,000 Americans were homeless with one out of every five of them living in New York City or Los Angeles. 65 percent of the country's homeless population was provided with emergency shelter, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The largest number of homeless people was recorded in New York City (76,501), with Los Angeles in second place (55,188)."

That takes no account of those living in substandard housing, shabby trailer parks and their cars, vans and motorhomes...

So, yes ... housing is not BS imo

RE: Would the World be more peaceful without as much of the USA throughout it?

Like any vote, one expects privacy as to choice ... however

I'm not ashamed to say what I think - That is that the USA, in the post Eisenhower years, have involved themselves far too much in the affairs of other nations and that that has been a grave mistake Gal.

'Local conflicts' ought to be solved by the people involved 'at a local level' and not used by ANY other nation as a profit opportunity (supplying weapons) nor as a political opportunity (to hold sway in a region and to impose a different way of life on those people)

Pre LBJ the 'American Dream' was largely achievable and indeed being achieved by, dare I say, the majority of Americans ? Even though there was still racial inequality the situation was, albeit slowly improving ... and that's as much as I'll say, beyond it takes time to sway a culture in much the same way as takes vast distances to turn a giant seagoing oil tanker.

Since then though the American Dream really seems to have faded ... those who 'have' are fewer and those who have not are massivelly increasing.

Let me ask you, would there be so much decaying infrastructure in the states if even 50% of your last 4 decades of military expenditure had been spent at home?

How about healthcare?

How about housing ?

How about education ?

How about ... any number of other pressing social issues ?

The UK paid back of the War Debt ... and then some.

RE: Would the World be more peaceful without as much of the USA throughout it?

So far we have a bunch of Americans talking about the sacrifices they have made for others?

Step back a minute - what about the millions of people who have died in all of the conflicts overtly and covertly created by the US Government since WW2 ?

What about the actuality that even WW2 could never have been commenced had it not been fro covert funding by US Industrialist such as Ford, Sloane, Bush and many more.

You've all fallen in love with a sanitised and Hollywood glorified notion that you're always the goodies?

Go back and read President Eissenhowers 'farewell Address' to the nation at the end of his presidency.

He very clearly warned against allowing the Industrial Military Complex getting out of control.

He also warned against the dangers of becoming embroiled in the affairs of other nations 'even if invited'.

One cannot be at all surprised that successive US Governments have failed to listen to Russia and China over the last 20 years when they did not even listen to one of their own who spoke so clearly on 20 Jan 1961

As we peer into society's future, we – you and I, and our government – must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry he said... yet Charlotte Iserbyt Thompson saw need to write "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America" to warn you all of what was happening 20 years ago ... y'all didn't pay heed.

You're complaining that globally 'nobody loves you much anymore' but your Govt is causing that by bullying, murdering, destroying countries, appointing proxies like Osama Bin Laden, puppets such as Saddam Hussein and then betraying them?

Let's talk about Libya ... the most advanced north african nation bombed to bits because Clinton hated Gadaffi ...

Out of control fellas, and you're gonna need all the guns you can get before it turns inwards on you all .

RE: What age range are you more attracted to?

There's a " formula " that comes up from time to time 'Half the age of the older partner plus 7'

You're 58 so ...

(58 / 2) +7 = 36 lower age

102 = upper age limit ( 102 / 2) + 7 = 58

RE: What age range are you more attracted to?

I see (from your new headline pic) that the steroid treatment appears to have worked!

RE: What age range are you more attracted to?

The age (number) is not so much of an issue as the respective maturity level of partners (IMO) and their willingness to create, and 'live the relationship'

My brother in law and sister in law have a 23 years age difference (he's the older of the two) they met and dated when she was 20, had a longish engagement during which they lived together and have been married now for 37 years.

That's certainly stronger, longer and more durable than seem to be the norm nowadays where, it sometimes seems' people are just 'looking for a relationship' as 'relationship were a 'thing' ie an item that could be acquired.

In actuality a 'relationship' is a dynamic living creation between two people who have strong positive feelings toward one another and a decent level of self esteem that enables them to know the other is sincere and so to experience the mutuality.

Without a decent level of self esteem in each there's only ever going to be difficulties

He has low self esteem she tries to build him up and he can't accept her sincerity ( and vice versa )

She has low self esteem and he grows tired of (either) feeling that he's not taken seriously when he offers her a sincere compliment, or he grows tired of her negativity ... let's face it squarely, people with low esteem do tend to be negative, pessimist, destructive thinkers ... y'know how they tend to suck the life out of you even when they have the fake happy jolly face on, they're always needling someone, trying to suck them into their dramas and so on and then they wonder why they're so lonely ...

(and again, vice-versa on the genders)

A 'Disney' section - essentially all those people with thin skins who are offended by people like you and I could be kept in little compound where they can drivel platitudes at one another and play with dribble soaked teddybears!
