RE: What is your Chinese sign

What happened in between Jan. 1941 and Jan. 1952???
Many have listed their sign and attributes, but none have listed which Sign they get along with or ostensibly, belong together with under the Chinese Astrology charts. Curious omission....

RE: ARE ALL LIVES OF EQUAL WORTH OR ARE SOME MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS?

Bravo! Fortissimo! Encore! Glory Halleleuiah! %D

RE: who can tell me what constitutes a hidden agenda???

This particular quotation is what I sense as a deliberate target of some people's "hidden agendas" . It is heard many tomes, it has been said many times by various posters who have come here seemingly with good open attitudes, made a few posts and then made the same statements before they withdrew totally. No wonder there is basically only a very small minority here on these forums; always has been...makes one wonder about "hidden agendas" There is a pattern it does seem. So many that have quit or withdrawn can't be all wrong as had been suggested several months ago. Right.

RE: What sense is more sensual ?

Which one makes more of a lasting impression on us would also be interesting to know;ie. we all know that smells, of all sorts can trigger quite vivid memories all the way back to childhood in an instant...which sense fades within moments and leaves us with no tactile memories at all...so many things activate our memories from "sensual" storage facilities in our brains, yet some are impossible to re-activate...

RE: IS 'HEAVEN' OTHER PEOPLE?

Sounds as if you have read a bit of "The Web Of Life" or "The Hidden Connections" by Fritjof Capra, also author of The Tao Of Physics; the understanstanding of the interconnectiveness of all life; integrating the biological, cognitive, and social dimensions of Life into a science of sustainability...if you haven't, carry on, you may as well...%)

RE: ARE ALL LIVES OF EQUAL WORTH OR ARE SOME MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS?

Very interesting concept and point. I wonder that the values of an artificially constructed value(s) of "equality" to rectify what Nature has not given us, would in fact have any real value.
If this concept of Equality with the understanding of re-defined commercial interests, not withstanding, be spelled out on a form to sign...how many would accept it...
Human nature does not recognize the concept of "Equality" in, of anything; neither does Life/ aka "Mother Nature" etc. Mankind as a whole doesn't take kindly to artificial concepts/ fabricated constructions. Mother Nature abhors anything artificial as much as it does a vacuum. However that may be, Mankind must not only adopt and adapt to Nature but to himself. As that seems to be the key, the questions beg for answers; can we; , in the end is will we...
We must find out ; we must find that road; we seem to have built it before, but it has been left unattended and has been abandoned and lies overgrown somewhere in the bush...
Good post to set the juices flowing...%)

RE: What was the greatest movie ever made?

Ha! Might have know ; Good story; in same vein I would have chosen the Russian version of War And Peace---all 8 1/2 hours! The Hollywood version was just too maudlin, especially with Henry Fonda!

RE: what should be the most important concern for an America president

as an ad says, "try it, y'all like it"! Sicko has its moments! %D

RE: what should be the most important concern for an America president

Lichtenstein isn't the real problem. It's The Duchy of Grand Fenwick that is massing their armed forces for another invasion of the US, this time to be landed by the naval forces of San Marino! Flee for them yar hills!!

RE: What was the greatest movie ever made?

Geesh, not even ONE Mel Brookes film!? Curses! %D

RE: We All Live Under The Same Sky But We Do Not Have The Same Horizon

Well of course not; some of us are vertical and some of us are horizontal and then again a few are perpendicularly skewered. %D

RE: Differences between Christian denominations?

One would like to think so, but there aren't many at all that actually give you the main theological beliefs, let alone the why's and wherefore's or their basis for schisms and certainly very little, if anything on what they do not believe in; some may tell or even try to explain their emphasis on either Book 1 or Book 2, the Old and the New Testaments, but not why only certain verses were used to the exclusion of virtually all others, to break away and found their own "church". The only ones that actually try to explain their reasons for their existence are the Church of England( Anglican) and the Lutheran Church. Scientology is classified as "protestant", and so are the Christian Science people, Unitarians and they do have publications stating/ staking their "territory" out as it were.
It's all interesting, so have patience and good luck! %)

RE: Who would you most lightly leave out of a poll??

Well, as is said, those that keep their mouths shut, gather no feet...%)

RE: We need a matchmaker!

From both observations and even a few personal situations, it is far easier on one's spirit and character to make a fool of one's self in public AFTER one knows that their "special someone" does care for them; the level of joy, that reeling ecstasy of being cared for; of being actually loved by that person knows no bounds to celebrate it. Absolutely nothing will matter if others may think you a fool,(usually it's envy!), you are King and can do no wrong, no matter how silly ..it is positively euphoric...and no drug can ever compete with that!! %D

RE: We need a matchmaker!

One proviso that I think should be made mandatory by majority of members would be that Everyone must have photos that would use this service.

RE: We need a matchmaker!

In general quite a good and reasonable idea. I would imagine that a program could be written for a "matchmaker" with what you have in mind, only having the other 2 names arbitrarily chosen by the program. Responses would be a bit of a hurdle given the parameters you have suggested but finding an actual person and humane/ understanding person may be a daunting task; still a good idea though!
Other sites have long advertised their so called "match-making" abilities by basically comparing positive and negative traits(things not in common at all). Seems that some automated system programs are too impersonal from what I've heard. Best of luck!!

RE: For All Those Rushing to Canada Immigration Tomorrow....

Love your posts on Canada; loved living there but haven't you forgotten the best song of all: I'm A Lumberjack by Monty Python??%D

RE: Do you have a gun in your home

Then again, for the front and rear of your home you could try the Gatling Minigun M134; very versatile. For sniping at those pesky infiltrators of your well manicured minefield, try out the new Remington Model 700 Etron-x. It is classified as an "electronic gun" as it uses an electronic primer ignition; trigger pull simply makes an electronic connection, fires the cartridge using an electronic pulse producing a lightning fast lock time with extreme accuracy, even without a scope. Comes with sound suppressor for when you prefer those quiet moments...(Got one as a Christmas present%)),and for when you simply must go out, wear one of the very nice Swiss made Ring Pistols; 2oz., .22 LR; overall length of only 13/4 inches(4.3 cm)and the barrel is just a mil longer than the .22 LR cartridge. Penetration is only an inch or two, so the firing range would need to be point blank of course. Take no cheap imitations! %D

RE: Do you have a gun in your home

There are many occupations that call for a person to own and "carry" a gun of some sort. There are also many reasons for guns(all types of firearms) to be in a home besides "security reasons". Many collect guns for various reasons: historic reasons, design/ craft mans-ship; it's very oddity as an "item" classified as a gun; business reasons, as in the buying and selling of guns. If a person is "in the gun business" legitemately, it's much better financially than holding any job save for a CEO of a company comparable to Microsoft. Every time I sell an automatic weapon, there is a minimum of a 500% mark-up in price; others range from 300%. For investment purposes, Guns rank just after Art, and Antiques...they only increase in demand and value.

RE: Accept The American Way, Or Face The Consequences!

To paraphrase a letter on a Monty Python skit: "I object to the increasing lavatorial contents of" the postings by those now making continued personal attacks on others... (might have known...)

RE: Accept The American Way, Or Face The Consequences!

Fantastic! Incredible! So true! Who would have thought that there were people like you with your level of acumen left; be careful, you may be in danger of being deported, probably reported to the FBI and Homeland Security as being "anti American"! %D %D
You are so correct to distinguish between most citizens and their so called government. They haven't been the same for a long, long time.
Most Americans, I would like to think do not follow the current regime's philosophy of "We first crush people to the earth, and then claim the right of trampling on them forever because they are prostate." (Lydia Maria Child 1802-1880).
Excellent post, excellent retort. Congratulations!

RE: in what order motivates you the most to check out a profile

I haven't seen any women's photos in the number 5 category...the bare chested/ muscle poses; have I missed some?? %D

RE: Who do you think is the all time greatest guitar player?

I also thought of him and Leona Boyd, and several others , but Classical and Jazz guitarist , obviously aren't into Rock N Roll...which also leaves out several great "Rock-A_billy" players from the 50's and 60's, especially those that were the lead guitarists for the recording sessions at Sun Records. Good music, fantastic players all. %)

RE: What should be proposed to correct the Palestinian situation?

Perhaps as a first step, negate, declare that infamous Balfour Declaration null and void and let the cards fall where they may.
I wonder how many anti-Arab,(anti-Semites, as the Arabs ARE Semites), anti Palestinians would like it if the Balfour Declaration had been about taking a part of or the entire country of where you live as to be a "homeland" for another people, another race totally different from yours, would like it...( The Jews that took possession of Palestine to form Israel aren't even Semites; they only have a religious and political claim to ancient Israel; no blood relation to the original biblical Jews at all.)Let the major power that backs the Zionists make part of their country the new Israel: the US!

RE: Do you want more/any children?

I would have loved to have more; hell, I would still love to...but unfortunately, it does take 2.
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of helping care and nurture my 2 despite some "rough times" I'd do it ten times over. We took turns at working to do this. I look back, I look at them now, and somehow I still feel that something was left undone...I had wanted more both for myself and for them....oh well.

RE: have you ever worn a straw hat in public? (controversial I know!)

And there are parts of the world where little else is worn. I guess that it all depends on where on your body you wear the straw hat and for what purpose, as in just what to conceal or cover-up... when one has to step out from behind the cows...%D

RE: What are your news sources...

All the major news-wire services, BBC World News Sevice, various newspaper and magzine services around the world , all via the internet and some highly specialized news and Intelligence websites of some Defence Agencies while at work. While at home: rumour mill sites of various groups. Some times for up to half a day or night depending what is going on...or not going on. Many contacts also keep me posted on certain topics and their souces. Clipping services are a great source of that as well as for amusement but I get good rates. Rarely anything from TV, no US "News" sources other than the on line Pentagon/ Defense Department bulletins which I've used since the 70's in 2-4 page publications, now all on line, along with still a few old contacts in Wash.DC %)

RE: Funniest most embarrasing thing that happened to you on a date....

Met a lady on a blind date, at expected time, at expected place with expected heavy brown coat; me with expected black coat and beret, said our mutual hellos; went to have dinner at a nice restaurant; we were both comfortable and easy going with each other; great topics over dinner. She travelled a lot and I did also. It wasn't until 2 hours later, coming out of the Chamber Music Recital that a chance remark about her being employed by a newspaper that I had thought she worked for a travel agency. She thought I worked for a Courier Service...seems we each met up with the wrong dates at the right place and time, went off for a lovely evening...We both called our respective correct dates that had returned home, apologized profusely and made a date for all of us to meet a few days later. Had a great time...and a great laugh at the perils of such casual introductions and misleading/ misinterpretations of situations ...all began well and all ended well...%D

RE: Cool....

Trying to work out a comedy routine?? %D
one step at a time; begin with person turning around(hearing the sound of rustling clothes), now try having the person taking a couple of sniffs ...(fill in with type of smell of your choice), continue to develop scenario...(OWW! Someone or something just slapped me!) Hears snickering in the air... %D
