RE: hi

Maybe we should all follow Norman Lowell's vision for our island. LOL

RE: The treachery

To let down is one thing, to betray is another.
You could let down someone on a promise or an expected achievement, but betrayal is another story my good friend. To know exactly what it means, you have to be at the receiving end. You wont need the dictionary to find out what it means.

RE: Sleeping

You're still on a teenager's agenda then !! LOL

RE: Sleeping

Yes you can say so, and it is very good too. Switching off the computer early, and the light and the TV saves me a lot on the electricity bills!

RE: angeles have legs?

Another child asked his mum if candles could be eaten.
His mother replied in shock, that they were definitely not1
So the child asked his mother, why is it that every night I hear dad tell you "blow off the candle, love, let's have sommmmmmmme !!!

I guess angels have candles instead of legs. The hot air keeps them floating.

RE: when traveling which form of transport do you prefer

It depends whether you just want to get there, or enjoying getting there.
If you want to arrive in the shortest time and see nothing, not even if you are going to lose your life or not, The plane is the answer.

If you want to see some scenery, travel relaxed in the assurance that you are not going to miss the next turnoff into the autobahn or the exit to the village, or that you are not going through the nightmare of driving through fog, then it must be the train.

If you want the journey to last forever, and see more scenery, if you don't sleep off, then it is the bus.

But if you want to have complete control of your trip, if you want to see it all, stop as you please, sleep as you please etc, eat where you please, and what you please, it must be by car or camper. Nothing beats these for complete freedom of movement, and for programming the day as you please.

RE: ambitions

Well it is a little late in the hour for us two, WW, to harbour ambitions.
I suppose that we did most of what we had to do by now.

I still harbour one ambition though, whether I'll manage to achieve it or not is very doubtful, but my last wish would be to live the few years I have left as a millionaire.

RE: You do like chocolate ?

These children have all my sympathy, believe me, but I am just not prepared to stop buying my favourite brand of chocolate just because somewhere along the line abusive use is made of childrens' work.
I will not stop drinking my Coca Cola because it is a multi national, and is accused of this and that. There is nothing to replace the unique taste of this drink, as there are only very few brands of chocolate that I truly like.
So what are we expected to do? deprive ourselves of what we enjoy, because of child labour?
If you asked most of us to be signitories to a campaign against child labour, most would sign it, myself the first one to sign, but when things get to a ridiculous level, then I would rather ignore the matter.

RE: Beautifil women

The question was how do men regard beautiful women.
How a beautiful woman is made and how she feels are besides the point.
The question was aimed at the perception men have of beautiful women, what makes a woman look beautiful in the eyes of men.

I could agree with you with what you have said, but none of the things are outwardly visible, and hence points of judgement.

RE: The treachery

No never, but that is because I never trust anyone very much until I will be more than sure that that person deserves my trust.....and to gain that, it is not easy.

RE: Sleeping

When not busy on my computer, reading clients' mails or orders, or preparing quotations for clients who are impatient, and want immediate prices and answers to technical questions, I usually spend some time on the EU forums, joining the discussions and giving my viewpoints.
This usually takes me up to about 1 AM which is pretty late, I would say.
After that I just go to sleep.

Saturday and Sunday, is different. I usually have a girlfriend, the same one for the past 45 days or so, we just bed a little early, to enjoy the evening.

RE: travel /holiday insurance is it a rip off

Some people on this forum seem to think that everything is a rip off....mobile phones, internet connections, now insurance travel!

Well do like me, get a Gold Card, and travel insurance becomes free. It is in my package. Can't advise you better than that!
Oh a Platinum Card is better....if you can afford it!

RE: smoking

Here it does make the difference.
Health service is free, like in the UK. So basically, we taxpayers are paying a lot of money for those idiots who decide to get cancer and then go for the free treatment. After years and exhorbitant sums of money, they die just the same. But for their smoking vices, we in general, would have paid for their wrong doings.
Still the worst wrong doing of theirs is their spreading around of their smoke to non smokers who also get sick because of them.

QED

RE: hi

I'm always happy to answer you Sunshine.

Yes, same here. They can have children outside marriage. They are all considered legitimate children, have the same rights and benefits.

I really don't know who is better off really, those who get married or those who don't.

You're up late today Sunshine. Remember you should be out of the clouds quite early tomorrow morning, according to our local weather forecast. We did not see you today in Malta, all day long! Hope to see you tomorrow!

RE: do women

Unless they invest in expensive robots.
besides answering the door at night, these would come in handy for all those hmmmm things you mention Smoky, and they don't tire so easily, unless they are battery operated!

So the answer to the question is YES until the robot replaces the man to do things better than the man.

RE: Beautifil women

For a grammatically correct interpretation of the words, consult the dictionary, but most men refer to a woman as beautiful, hence to beautiful women, as those who are proportionate, appealing, beautiful face and skin, tall and with features as would appeal to them like long shapely legs etc.
Obviously a man might call a woman beautiful, because he likes what he sees in her. If he likes slim figures, long yellow hair and blue eyes, then he would say that that woman is very beautiful. For another man who likes brunettes, maybe with shorter . but more rounded figures and dark eyes, the first woman might not look beautiful.
But to be beautiful, independent of the judging person, I think that a woman must be balanced, nothing in disproportion, not even the good things.

RE: hi

no Sunshine,

The Maltese are completely unaffected by all this. This in fact makes it easier to cover their mistakes.
Some are not bothering to marry at all. A great number of youngsters are just living together without marrying..no marriage, no divorce. Even that is another solution we have found here!
There are no restrictions about living together here, so although the older generation looks at all this as disruption of the family life, the newer generation see it as the way forward.

The only problems arise when one of the married partners wants to sue the other for money or inheritance or for the common property.

RE: holidays

Sorry WW, but travelling with children is not my cup of soup.

I don't know how people manage to take children for long holidays, because the headache of travelling and arriving on time by myself is already enough. Just imagine doing it with half a dozen youngsters running around me.

RE: Express yourself

I think the question was how do you express by gestures and deeds and put into words.
So really there are three questions there.
How do you express in gestures?
by deeds?
How do you put in words?

Three seperate answers.

Writing an e-mail cannot be a gesture, or a deed or words, unless you consider the "written word" words.

Maybe the question was more aimed at integrating body language with actions and words. Only the author can correct me if I am wrong

RE: WHAT MAN WANTS

That has always amazed me too Marti, and I am talking from a man's point of view.

To be honest I think it is a man's reaction to the woman's attitude.

If the women continued to kindle the fire, I believe the men would continue to show the same affection.

Men always hope to find a better companion, but sometimes discover that the new woman is no better than the previous one.....no offence to anyone please..!! It just starts better, but it levels out every time.

RE: hi

Hi Sunshine,
Do you really want to know how the Maltese get over the problem of having no divorce?

The Maltese have found a unique way of putting up with this problem. They remain married, but take on a lover or two sometimes. The ex partner, with whom they are still legally living together, but obviously sleeping in seperate rooms, knows about everything. In the eyes of the people, they are still husband and wife, but in reality they are strangers. This saves on expensive settlements and the tearing away of children from the parents. everything takes place as if nothing was happening.
It may interest you to know that in Malta we have the highest percentage of such couples in the world, I am told, correct me if I am wrong, any body from Malta please! They are called " poggiuti"
Which means living together but not married to each other but to someone else.

There are the seperations as Marti said, but few compared to the other category. In this way the Maltese have found the way how to control the church, which always tried to dominate them in everything they did. And in a way succeeded.

RE: the european union

Everything has pros and cons.
Whatever you said might be true, but belonging to a union where you are no longer living isolated in any one country, means a lot more to me than anything else.
We all hear about the thousands of unemployed, but we don't realise that it is not just in Europe that we see this trend. It is everywhere, everywhere where machines are replacing human beings. I have no comment to make on that. But it is impossible to deny the benefits that the EU has brought about for its citizens. Just think of the better air quality, the better quality of drinking water and the better control on all foodstuffs.
I am no expert on anything EU but I feel that difference even in a little country as far out as Malta, in the middle of nowhere.

RE: are mobile phones a rip off

See Jan, it is worth shopping around!!

RE: The kiss

Come on UK! It takes two to tango, and two to do the kissing. Unless you're kissing the mirror!

RE: The kiss

There are a lot of types of kisses.
There is the soft gentle kiss on the cheek.
But I am sure that is not the kiss that would interest a lot of people.
Then there is a kiss on the ears, together with some breath blown in for some good effect. That too is not very significant at an early stage
Then there is the kiss on the lips. That is the first significant comunication. You could check for bad breath, the kind of chewing gum that the person has in the mouth, or the favourite toothpaste employed.....
The most significant kiss is called the French kiss, although it has nothing French about it. Those who know what it is need no explanation.
When it is given as a first or second kiss, it does mean a lot.
It is an invitation for acceptance to move on with other things.
If in doubt, ask the French about it. They made it their own without any consent from anybody else! Like the French Revolution. It could revolutionise your life, so be a little wary. Don't let your tongue get bitten off.

RE: Difference

Very well said Killingtime.
I think you are gradually taking over from me as the philosopher on the site.
We have one common thing to be proud of: we both write in English...correct English.

RE: the european union

Excuse me, but what a narrow vision you have of the European Union.
What about the free movement of all EU citizens to any country they choose to go....and work?
What about the absence of passports and such beurocracy at the borders of the various countries? Is that just economic.....to save on passport paper maybe??

RE: WHAT MAN WANTS

I would also add that men who are faithful to their women, also expect the same fidelity thay give, and so don't have to worry what their woman is doing while they are busy at work, or concentrating on some other personal problem. this is a "must add" to the list.
