RE: are mobile phones a rip off

Sorry, but can't see the problem.

Comunicating costs money, no doubt, but that is a comodity and not a need.
If your internet is costing you too much, change the service provider.
If you mobile phone is costing you too much, change the service provider.
With mobile phones, I have gone to a system without any contract. I buy the card, and when I use it, I buy the next card. Usage is free of charge.

I would suggest ADSL for internet, with unlimited hours 24x7 on line for a very good price, better than any dialup connections.

RE: APRIL1ST

You won Euro 10,000, but thinking it was an April fool joke, you never went for it! Go for it WW, before it goes back to the tiller for a second draw.

RE: Before and after you fall in love...

Then you'd better be clearer in your words, Yami! you never as much as hinted you were addressing women.

I know a rich ice cream loving woman. I could send her your invitation. She is just under 25 stone! British measure no KGs here.

RE: smoking

Jan, the difference between smoking and all the other things you mentioned is that you can do very little about them, short of starting a world awareness campaign.
With smoking you can. all it takes is for you to decide to stop.
So please not another justifier that because there are more evil things, smoking becomes a good thing. It is what my father did.....and he died of cancer!!

RE: smoking

I believe that there are many reasons why people get sick and die, but saying that cigarette smoking is one of many causes of death, does not make much sense. If people are dying from chimey smoke, from car emissions, from contaninated food, from genetically modified nutrition, it is no justification why people should continue to smoke.
But then smokers always defend themselves by saying this!

We seem to be losing reason if we had to reason like that.
If we cannot avoid being caught in traffic jams where car fumes are poisoning us, or factory chimneys are filling our lungs with smoke, we surely can avoid killing ourselves by voluntarily ignoring advice, and continuing to smoke. It is a proven fact that cigarette smoke kills. But for those of us who want to play Russian roulette, I guess it is up to them to believe the truth or their own lies that smoking does not effect them!

As for myself, I am an ex smoker who has kicked off the habit many many years ago, and who has never regretted it. I did not do it for myself either. I did it for my four year old son (at that time). I could not bear to see him breathing my Gitanes cigarette smoke!

RE: Famous (or otherwise) last words...

Very clever Marti.
I would say exactly the same words.
But if anybody heeded us, they would'nt be our last words then! LOL

RE: weddings

read MARRIED not MATTED

RE: weddings

You just reminded me of the rising cost of something else WW funerals!
Only that time, I won't be around to pay for that.
that is the big bonus with the latter.

I guess you could always persuade your daughter to get mattied on some remote island, where such events are rarities, and the local population would actually contribute to the wedding by offering their horses, mules, ploughs, carts etc to make a kind of celebration like some village feast celebrating an abundant harvest.

RE: pocket money

Pocket money....What a headache!
If it was just how much pocket money children need to cope with their little expenses, it would not be such a big problem. It is easy for a parent to calculate a child's needs, and even to teach the child to take proper care of money, and save some for a special need.
I remember, I used to buy my weekly 45rpm record, from my pocket money, sometimes having to skip lunch to do it.

The problem is when the children's friends have too much of it. My sons had serious problems when they used to see some of their school mates buying sweets with bank notes that would have added to a few weeks of their own ample pocket money put together. One even developed a temporary inferiority complex, thinking that if his friends were so rich, we were close to being beggars!

It was only when he grew much older that he realised that he had all he ever wanted, and that these others were just bluffing their way through, to make their school friends feel miserable and deprived creatures. This was all coming from these children's families. At that age children rely on the better judgement of their parents.

So when is enough good enough? When the children feel that they are not made to deprive themselves of things that all of their friends are affording to buy.

RE: The Happiness I Feel at Your Achievements

The poem, as I see it does not only apply to a man woman relationship, but it is addressed to everyone. Anybody who wants to share the writer's experiences is welcome.

Hey Sunshine, for the happy positive person that you always say you are, you are being a little too severe with yourself!
Keep smilimg. If we had no sunshine on this forum, we would all have an eclipse of the sun.

RE: dreammm

I can't imagine how we deserve better than we dream. Already dreaming is setting for us a high target for our future achievements. How can we deserve more than we dream? If we think we deserve to have it, we dream about having it.

RE: just a question on neighbours do u get on

There is a saying in Maltese which translated roughly reads
"fight with everyone, if you care to do so, but not with your neighbours"

Yes sometimes neighbours get over friendly, and become a nuisance, but is difficult to determine which to choose to be a little closer, and which to keep at an arm's length.

RE: Why only older men???

What a lot of cobwebs you have up in your mind.
we are lucky that there are only a few people like you on the site with such retrograde ideas.
As for me, I am very proud that i was brought up with the English, and write and speak the language fluently. With my English, I could go anywhere, what about with native languages, like my own? Maltese? a language for only 365,000 people? Where do you think I can go with that?
As EU citizens we should put away these over pariotic and outdated stances about nationalism and national identities. The world is our contry today.....for those who want it......some just don't. So they can remain stuck in their little corner of the world to have a peep outside at the progress of the rest of the world.

RE: Why only older men???

No Shimmy,
I don't agree with you or Mette.
The reason why I don't have a photo is that i have not been able to download one from my camera. I don't want to hide my face, and most of us don't want to do this either.
I think that the profile like a picture tells the story that the writer wants to give.
It is the writer's contribution to the forums that give the correct impression of a person. Independent of what the profile says, the person contributing in a forum is expressing his/her most sincere thoughts and viewpoints.
a careful study of those replies can even reveal if he/she is the person claimed to be on the profile. Of course it does not tell the age of the person or indeed if they are single or not. But it shows a lot about their consistency, whether they contradict what they write before, or when they narrate something about themselves.

RE: Why only older men???

Well said Sunshine!

I did'nt imagine you had all that energy! Congratulations!

RE: I'm Purity!

Hi Purity,

Welcome.

You have a very beautiful name but.....
Guess how many jokes have been said about your name!

RE: just a question on neighbours do u get on

If the neighbour is a gorgeous female, then I would have to make it a point of taking out her garbage bags, parking her car, checking her swimming pool, and testing the deckchair, lest in case she falls off it as she sunbathes.

If it is some grumply old man, with a great big hat covering his face, I would definitely stay away. Unless he is some kind of collector, who has the same hobby as I do, or anything of special interest to me.

RE: Why do English children learn French?

The original question of why do English children learn French is totally different to the second one one "or German for that matter?"

Throughout history, the English and the French were never on very good terms.
Although things changed drastically in recent years, probably because of the European Union, very few French people ever bothered to talk in anything but their native language, and so with the English, only that English is talked in so many countries.
So the only way English children would have a chance comunicating with the French was by studying French.

German, or any other language for that matter was a matter of choice. Whatever turned you on sort of.

RE: Why only older men???

Dear Shimmy,

I did not say that you marry for status or maturity. I said that with older men you get all that as a bonus to all the other things.
When I was much younger, I thought that one could jusy about marry anyone for love.
Then I learnt that not only does age make a difference, a small diierence, I would say, but upbringing, background, education were very important, luckily, I was married to someone of my own type and social standing, and never regretted it.

You might say, but what has all this to do with older men? I should not be saying this, but I have learnt that nothing lasts forever, nor do marriages. So don't try to see where you would be with someone who is fifty years now, in twenty years time.
In ten years time, you might be with a 25 year old. We always change for the better don't we?
Marriage is not a matter of how much stamina your man has to last on the dance floor. this is probably why so many marriages are failing today. they are all built on the wrong criteria.

Anyway, whoever is outside your desired age bracket, just don't write back to. Again the sixty year old spinsters of today, were those who had too high expectations, and the only way they satisfied themselves was to run around until Mr Right came along. Alas, that Mr Right never came along.

I wish you again good luck in your search.

RE: pic u up

Send me an e-mail Sunshine.
I'll try to do the rest. No promises though. But it is worth a try.

RE: "Are my posts to cheeky"

This is a free site. Contribute to it in any way you like.

When you overdo things the site moderators will knock you out. So until they do, you'll know that what you write is still acceptable, no matter what about! LOL

RE: likes and dislikes

I think WW that as you rightly say, our dislikes stem from our values, what we have been taught as right or wrong, good or bad, beautiful or ugly.

We like most of the food we ate at home, adding something of our own. We treat our women the way we saw our father treat our mother and vice versa.
We live in a lavish or conservative way, according to what we have experienced ourselves previously.

So for those who, like you say, have been taught to hate greed and theft, these would be the things that those people would hate.

I have been brought up to love food, and to eat to my heart's content, to love honesty, hard work, and to treat a woman like a queen. All things I have done.

I developed for myself in my earlier days, a desire to "run around" with as many girls as I could. But that was no family inheritance. Also my love for engineering and fast cars was never part of my inheritance, but I just love everything I am today.

RE: chaires and beds

If a chair is comfortable enough that you can actually do without a bed and make love on it with your partner sitting on you, face to face, without feeling any of her weight on you, but all of her presence, then the chair is priceless.

As for beds, I have a bad back so the orthopaedic mattress is the most important thing to look for here, but the bed has to be big and wide, should it be needed for some full figure girlfriends!!!

RE: single exchange of homes

Cheap flights to Europe??? you could say that again!! WW
On a normal air fare of Euro 220, we pay local taxes of Euro 125.
This is what we pay in Malta.

Perhaps if we get enough publicity on our plight, the local politicians would care to do something about it, so that we too could enjoy cheap holidays to Europe too. And believe me we all do !1

RE: Supersticion

For me Green is a bad luck colour, so I never buy anything green for myself, and would feel very uncomfortable going out with anybody like a girlfriend, if she came dressed in green.

Friday the 13th is another no, no, so I would never take a decision on that date.
However in extreme fear, I once had to board a plane on Friday the 13th, and we landed safely, as you can see, I am still here and writing on this forum.

I was told about the broken mirrors bad luck, but don't believe in that one

There is another popular one doing the rounds in Malta, and it is opening an umbrella in the house. That should result in a plane crashing on your house. Spell lasts 50 years. So it can happen 50 years later. Won't be around by then, or probably would have changed residence.

Got any more anyone?

RE: what is the coldest part in woman body and why?

Is this meant to be an opinionated question, or a factual one?

RE: best place to meet someone new

Yes the swimming pool is a great place. You don't even have to use your imagination for what they look like.....you're almost seeing all of them .......in their tiny bikinis. Great WW.

RE: house selfbuild

There are two issues here: if you have the time/knowledge to do it, and how it would effect your image.
If one buys a Mercedes as an ego booster, just imagine what living in such conditions like a container would do to one's image.
People would keep asking you why you bothered to garage your car in such a contraption so far away from home. But where exactly do you live, they would ask? ...thinking that this was where your car lay, not where you actually lived.
Great for avoiding taxes though. Every time the tax man found you, you would move your container to the next county!!

RE: i'm new here

Hi girls, welcome to the forum.

Continue to keep us good company.

By the way, my name is Anton, and I hail from Malta.

RE: the kitchen

Right you are Highfidelity, but some people just like their meat raw1

That's very bad for the back, especially when they put it on the kitchen table.

I prefer a wood burning stove for pizzas, a micro wave for my busy days and a good freezer full of Yami Yami things.
